44 - Marginalia

Dear Reader,

My name is Odd-kun and I'm almost X years old.

It's nice to meet you!

I guess this is is a journal. Or you can call it diary if you want. But I don't like diary because diaries are kind of icky and I get too em-ba-ress-ed to write 'Dear Diary' in the beginning. So I pretend there is someone reading my journal, and I call them Reader.

I live in a bii-iiiig house with all my friends and Sister Lumo. The house has a name and the name is called Parallax Manor. It is a big house with a lot of rooms. I have never counted all of them but I'm sure there is a hundred.

My friends, there is Alex and there is Valerie and also Sunny and Moeka and we are all very good friends and we have fun all the time.

Just the five of us.

Alex is my best friend and he is funny and we joke around lots. He has a video game console in his room so I like to play games with him in there.

He also likes to read books which is good because Sister Lumo has a library in the house with lots of books. They are old ones and a lot of them don't have pictures so it's hard to read for me so I don't really read them.

Valerie is a bit stinky but she is really nice. She knows how to draw good and I like to watch her draw a lot.

Sunny is a funny boy who is happy all the time.

And Moeka is the oldest of us kids so she is kind of like an older sister but not like ree-eeal kind of older sister, like Sister Lumo is, if that makes sense.

Sister Lumo takes care of all of us and she is like our protector and tomorrow is her birthday.

Alex and Valerie and Sunny and Moeka and I spent today making decorations and making a cake and making her a present.

The cake looks really yummy and we had a lot of fun baking it. I ate a lot of frosting and it was funny when Moeka put some on my face and we all laughed a lot.

We also picked some bue-teh-full flowers from the plant room where the plants grow and we made a boo-kay for her party tomorrow.

We are not allowed to leave the outside of the Manor because Sister Lumo says it is dane-jer-uss and there are scary things outside that want to hurt us.

Like the scary man who comes to our window sometimes. We don't know who he is but we don't let him in but he talks to us from the window and he says that he will show us the truth of this world but he's scary so we don't let him in.

The scary man can't come in to the Manor so we play by ourselves and try not to look at him.

After we made the cake then we put it in the re-friger-a-ter so it is ready for tomorrow.

But it is strange because we don't know where Sister Lumo is. We have not seen her for a very long time and I hope she is okay. I hope she can come to her surprise birthday party tomorrow. I think it will be a lot of fun.

It is late now and I'm writing in my diary I mean journal but I am looking forward to tomorrow and I will go to sleep early and I hope Sister Lumo will be there tomorrow because it will be a lot of fun.

Dear Reader,

My name is Odd-kun and I'm turning X years old this year!

It's really nice to meet you!

This is not really a letter but I am starting a journal and I think it's lame and dumb to start it with 'Dear Diary' because only girls do that and Valerie will make fun of me and laugh. So I will call you Reader instead and I will pretend you are an imagine-ary person who reads my writing.

Oh yeah, Valerie is my friend. I live in this big house with all my friends and also with Sister Lumo.

My friends are Valerie and Sunny and Moeka and … yeah that's it.

Just the four of us.

Sister Lumo protects us from the scary things that live outside the house and want to hurt us.

But it is strange because I haven't seen Sister Lumo for a very long time. I don't remember when we saw her the last time. I hope she is okay because tomorrow is her birthday and we spent all day today baking a cake and decorating the party room. ("… Odd-kun"?) There are so many rooms in the Manor and the party room is one of them. For her present we made a mina-ture doll of Sister Lumo. It looks really good and pretty and I hope she likes it.

Everyday me and Valerie and Sunny and Moeka have a lot of fun. Moeka is the oldest of us so she is like our big sister ("… Odd-kun, can you hear me?") but not really a big big sister like Sister Lumo is if you know what I mean.

("… Or maybe, I should ask, can you read this? Ooh. I got my own newline this time. … Heh. Carriage return. Line feed. … No dialogue tags, though.")

Sometimes there is a scary man who comes to the window he is outside the Manor and nobody knows who he is or what he wants but he's scary looking so we just ignore him and play by ourselves.

Anyway it's really late now so I will see you tomorrow Reader and it will be a very fun day at Sister Lumo's birthday. I hope she can be there. We all miss her a lot.
