From here and forever

It was a rainy day, like if I was projecting my mind into the sky, I was looking at the path that we leave behind with sadness, I was resting my arms in the carriage while the rain hit me in the face.

“We better close the carpet, Elizabeth…”

“Huh…”

I turned around and saw Beatrice, she was looking worried, about me I had to assume, I nodded and she closed the carpet while she went to poke her face out to the driver’s seat.

“Are you ok, Alexander?”

“These two are doing good, as long as they don’t show any weakness, I am good too, although my ass is getting a bit itchy from the rain, is not a strong one but definitely a long one, maybe my armor will fill out as a barrel, what do you think, Beatrice?”

Beatrice already left Alexander talking alone and he only sighed as we looked forward. I could keep my eyes looking in the same direction, looking at the empty space while drawing with my fingers my name and the one of my lover.

“You were doing fine a week ago, what happened, Liz?”

Beatrice went with me and hugged me while I played with my fingers.

“I’m thinking about Ryuzaki… how is he going to be able to travel all the way back without any equipment or carriage, how is he… if he even…. If he even decides to come back…”

“He will be back, Elizabeth”

The voice of Alexander could be heard across the carriage as we spoke, he entered his hand into the carriage’s carpet and made a thumbs up.

“Didn’t Ryuzaki say that? We will be back, besides that man is strong, perhaps even tougher than the golem we defeated, we will be good wherever the decision is made!”

“Heh… you are… right…”

I smiled and looked down but my eyes couldn’t lie, Beatrice stopped hugging me and sighed as he lie down on the other side of the carriage.

“Listen, Liz, you two know Ryuzaki better than me, but even I know you are not worried about her safety, you know he will survive wherever the cost, but what worries you, is that she changes his mind, but Alexander already told you, do you think, Ryuzaki is the type of man who takes back his word?”

That made me snap a bit, I looked at Beatrice and looked down again.

“One never understands a person at a hundred percent… Ryuzaki is not a person that says something and never does it… but… sometimes feelings are stronger than… I don’t even know…”

I started crying again

“I just miss him so much… I want him to hug me, I want him to kiss me, I want him by my side…”

I started hugging myself as I sobbed, Beatrice got up and she went and hugged me again, petting my head.

“There, there…”

I couldn’t say a word since I was crying, I felt so vulnerable and so weak at the moment.

“Ryuzaki…” —said Beatrice looking at the path behind.

Once I calm down I clean my tears and lie down in the carriage seat.

“We are almost there, it’s been a month since we left the last obelisk, in a few hours, we return home”

The rain didn’t go off, it was still going, we put our coats on, while we went to the guild, Alexander went to put her horses to rest and safe from the rain. When we got to the guild, the attendant saw us, I wasn’t in the mood to talk so Beatrice did me the favor.

“Oh, welcome back!”

“Have you seen, Akari?”

“Akari? Why do you need them?”

“We came to deliver the mission”

“Uhm… did Ryuzaki not tell you anything?”

“Ryuzaki?” —I turn around and look at the attendant.

“Yeah, he already delivered the mission”

“Is he in town?!”

“I don’t know, miss… you are too close…”

I left the guild running while Beatrice told me to wait, but I couldn’t wait and I knew exactly where Ryuzaki could be.

I ran thought a lot of distance, I could see the steam from my mouth go behind me so quickly and my hood going out as the rain drenched my hair and face, I just couldn’t wait, running through all town until the commercial district, I stopped in the middle, seeing the bank where we sat down before, I kept going until I reach the end of the commercial district.

Then I saw my parent's house. It's been a while since I saw my parents and I felt a bit guilty for wanting to watch my loved one before them, but I knew they were still there.

I went and opened the door panting and letting smoke out of my mouth.

“Elizabeth?!”

“Liz?!”

My dad and mom were drinking tea but there were no signs of Ryuzaki, I felt so bad, I couldn’t even spoke for how afraid I was, maybe Ryuzaki deliver the mission before he went, maybe he had something planned and left, I couldn’t blame him, I would never dare to, but…

“It’s raining a lot, father, I think it is already fixed, we shouldn’t have any more leaks…”

I heard the voice and my eyes started to shed tears, when I turned around, I saw Ryuzaki, he got his hair and beard cut and I just held him by his cheeks and kissed him, he went completely red in seconds.

“Oh my…”

“Don’t make me look at that, please…”

I stopped kissing him and looked him in the eyes.

“I miss you so much…”

“Me too… Liz…”

I hug him and I saw Alexander and Beatrice coming closer in the rain and saw Ryuzaki.

“Ryuzaki…”

“I knew you will be back soon, Ryuzaki”

Ryuzaki smiled and took my hand.

“I’m back, guys”

“Welcome back, partner”

“Welcome back, Ryuzaki”

I look at him and lean on her chest, hugging him.

“Welcome back, dear…”

“I’m home, my love…”
