Chapter 26:
Manifest Merge: Fused With A Goddess
Vault hastily tried to get the campfire ready to begin working on Harmony’s equipment. Felicia switched out with Eunice and stopped Vault from igniting the flames. She had an interesting idea she wanted to share with him.
“The dark armor you got from fighting those ghost monsters. Isn't there fire coming out of it? Can you use that for crafting?”
Vault gave her a dumbfounded look. “I… don't… know…”
He said each word very carefully while trying to process the idea. It had never occurred to him to even make an attempt. He opened up his inventory and equipped the Burning Haunted Knight Armor. He placed the crafting materials on the ground in front of himself.
He put his hand on top of them as they all laid in a pile. Blue flames erupted out of his hand, and created waves of fire that filled part of the room. A strong gust of hot wind came from them and blew Harmony's hair back.
She put up her arm to brace herself for the intense heat, and the strong winds. She turned over to her animal companions and saw the bat struggling to not get blown away. The wolf's fur was also flowing in the breeze from the energy.
She turned back to Vault and saw him in deep concentration molding the equipment to take shape. “I'm not going to fail this time. I'll make sure to get it right. You've been more than patient for long enough. I can't keep screwing this up.”
The bright light at the source of flames looked almost like a star in the darkness. She felt his determination and gave him a cocky smile. “You got this dude. We've gotten a lot stronger and got more used to our skills. You got that cool looking armor, and now it’s my turn.”
He let out a light chuckle before continuing to work. The waves of fire began to shrink and condense into a much smaller flame. It would occasionally leak out here and there almost like splashes of water. It left behind little black burn spots.
Vault’s companions made no attempts to get any closer to him out of fear of breaking his concentration, but they were also worried about being burned by the flames. Harmony wondered how he could stand working so closely to something so dangerous.
Was he not bothered by it? Had he just gotten used to it over time? Or was he just enduring for her sake. She wasn't sure what the real answer was. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to withstand working in such a delicate yet dangerous state, so consistently.
After what felt like an eternity, the flames died out and he turned back to her. “Harmony, sorry to keep you waiting.”
He marched up to her and held up his hands. The equipment came out of his inventory and materialized on top of his palms. She stared down at it in awe as smoke radiated from the materials. She gave him a speechless expression.
“Is this really for me? This is what you made?”
She could see the hesitation on his face, almost as if he was feeling guilty. “Do you not like it?”
She shook her head. “You said I surprise you all the time, don't forget you’re full of surprises too.”
She placed her hands over the attire and a flash of light engulfed her. Her rags had now been replaced with Vault’s new creation. She had armor on each of her limbs. It almost seemed like she was wearing a second pair of metal shorts over the armor.
Her attire appeared a lot like a school uniform, but also had a bit of a fantasy like style to it. It looked like a red uniform similar to that of what she used to wear in the real world. Other than the armor on her limbs, she also had breastplate armor around her chest.
She held up the two chakrams made out of deer antlers. The stats on the armor made her a little bit more durable and stronger. I was still of low-level quality due to his crafting skill, but she could still feel a lot more of a difference compared to the first time he gave her armor.
This time he had incorporated the armor pieces from the defeated Burning Haunted knight as part of the armor to wear on her body. She looked down at the attire and did a little twirl as she smiled. “Well Eunice? What do you think of the new threads?”
Eunice chimed in her head. <I believe it should be sufficient…It is about time Vault actually took the time to make our equipment.>
Harmony frowned. “Eunice we talked about this.”
Eunice let out a sigh in her head before switching out with Felicia. She approached Vault sheepishly and cleared her throat before speaking. “You have my thanks. Your creations…Will be very helpful.”
Vault chuckled softly and smiled at her. “Guess you do know how to be nice.”
She gave him an irritated look before flicking his forehead. “Ow!”
Felicia switched out with Eunice. Vault flicked her forehead just after they switched. “Ow! That wasn't me, it was Eunice.”
She grabbed a pebble from the floor and pointed her fist at Vault. “Extract!”
The stone launched out of her hand and smacked him in the forehead. He reeled back his head from the hit and touched his forehead. “I didn't know you could do that!”
She gave him a smug look. “Just thought of it now. Guess I got a new trick to show the golems.”
He slammed his hand on the ground and grabbed several rocks. He crushed them in his fist and they became engulfed in a blue flame. She got on guard and he opened his hand. He had created a spike ball made out of rock shards.
He tossed it up and down. “Your idea of using the flames from this suit, makes it possible to use my crafting abilities more freely.”
He caught the spike ball and pointed it at her. “Want to give those new weapons a try?”
She nodded and got her weapons ready. He threw the spike ball at her and she responded by using her weapons to slash it into pieces. Pebbles shot past her and she looked down at her weapons with a proud smile.
“Awesome!”
