Chapter 7:

A Fierce Battle of Reverends

Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 4th Novel

Natsuki lit up in all blue mana, Yahiko in red mana, Agatha in completely black mana, Akari in all white, Kento in half gold and half white, Sayo in dark green, Kouki in orange, and Yasuhiro in light green.

Akuma stood there like his normal self, but pulled out a sword encased in what looked like plastic, but it shined like a rainbow. Small spirits surrounded his body.

Isara’s fairies activated her spirit form immediately, sensing the danger that stood before them.

The witches sat in the back the entire time, not even engaging in conversation with any of them. They took hold of the weapons they had, which were strange. All of them were the same. In all of their hands, a hammer and a chalice-like cup sat in their palms. Nobody questioned it, but they took a serious stance, especially Asuka Pennin who was trembling at the presence in front of them.

Kento immediately targeted Nightmare with his sword. Welpen stepped in front in a flash and deflected it, while Kento’s other swords targeted him endlessly, but Welpen snapped them all in half in less than 3 seconds.

Kento laughed, but still dashed at Nightmare who had not moved. When Welpen went to step in front again, Kento screamed out, “Endless Pit!” creating a hole even in the darkness of the Dark Mold. He swung his sword at Nightmare, slicing his torso several times before Welpen flew back up and kicked at Kento’s ribcage.

However, this did nothing. Kento stood his ground like nothing happened, then threw down a handful of Knack Chaplets that flew at Welpen once again. Nobody else in the army moved at the moment, at least the higher ups, but the soldiers at the bottom were battling the rest of the group.

Natsuki: “Cupid’s Winding Arrow!”

Yahiko: Haunting Mind!”

Isara: “Light of Rasten!”

Sayo: “Dragon’s Hell!”

The witches in the back in sync smacked the chalices with their hammers at once, creating a lingering effect that bypassed the swordsmen and targeted one of the soldiers. A silhouette of red mana sent out in waves, entering the monster’s body, tearing it to pieces. However, this was only one soldier, while the rest approached at a rapid speed.

Isara: Guardian Spirit: Level 10! Benzo’s Sacrifice!”

The figure from when she first fought with Reiken appeared in front of her, overwhelming with mana. It ran as fast it could directly at the soldiers approaching and exploded on its own, killing another 4 of them.

Even with all of their help, they couldn’t defeat all the lower ones. They quickly got to where they were, and clashed swords with all of them. Kouki and Yasuhiro had dashed off, purposely going after the higher ups who sat in the back.

Even in Isara’s spirit form and newly fixed sword, one of the monster's swords crushed her to the ground. She couldn’t even defeat one of these things, even with the training that she had been doing. Her fairies quickly pulled her away, and made her break the Moon Chaplet.

The entire place shook.

Kouki, Yasuhiro, and Kento focused on what they were fighting, but the rest questioned what was happening. The rumbling of the ground wouldn’t stop, and mana from the sky rained down on Isara in all different forms. Multiple colors resembling the swordsmen’s mana poured into her.

‘This feels–’ she couldn’t even finish her thought as her body was calm and powerful. She couldn’t even hear her fairies, let alone anyone. Her mind was empty and her body felt light.

She looked at everyone around her, but it felt like everyone was fighting in slow motion. She walked over to Kento and Nightmare who were now clashing swords, but so slow that she could easily remove the blades from the area. She gave it a try and did so. Then, the next second, time resumed like normal and the blades swung past each other.

Both of them looked confused, but swung again at each other while Yasuhiro and Kouki fought Welpen. The slow motion effect took place again randomly, and she walked over to Welpen, pushing him over onto the ground.

When her ability went away again, Welpen was confused about what had happened. Kouki and Yasuhiro took advantage of whatever this was.

Kouki: “Moonglade Evergreens!”

Yasuhiro: “Devil’s Vines!”

Kouki’s ability created a barrage of Earth Chaplets, encasing the enemy constantly, digging Welpen further and further into the ground as grassy barriers surrounded him. Even though the barriers were weak, hundreds of them continued to surround Welpen. Devil’s Vines pierced them on purpose, heading right towards Welpen in an attempt to pierce him.

Welpen: “Imagination Level 1: Silence.”

The effects cancelled out instantly as Welpen grabbed Yasuhiro’s neck in less time than they could blink and slammed him into the ground.

He just laughed at this and whispered, “Limitless Creation Activate.”

Thousands of flowers bloomed around them in a barrier, while Kouki used a Wight Chaplet, entering through as a ghost and disabling it to swing at Welpen’s neck.

Yasuhiro: “Raiden!”

Lightning strikes rained down from the top of the barrier, while Welpen blocked Kouki’s sword. The lightning did nothing just as they thought, but Kouki dropped to the ground without his sword as Yasuhiro activated Marigold’s Coffin.

The two disappeared within the barrier.

Welpen looked around for them in the field of flowers.

Welpen: “Useless. You both are useless. Imagination Level 2: Opponent Censor.”
He reached down in the ground and pulled Kouki out of the ground by his hair, but he activated another Wight Chaplet on purpose as Yasuhiro yelled out, “Cyclone Barrage!”

Kouki: “Cyclone Barrage!”

A combo of the two swept Welpen off the ground for a second before he said, “Imagination Level 3: Gravity Weight.”

They were back at square one.

Kouki: “Brother. His powers…They make no sense. Everything he has done has countered every move that we have done.”

Yasuhiro: “HAHA! Slimy bastard. He’s adapting his abilities to ours. Keep pushing it, brother! I’d like to see if I can beat him before we use that! Roots of Decay!”

Kouki: “Nature’s Tenor!”

Instead of chanting something this time, Welpen dashed around at an insane speed and ended up behind Kouki. He snapped his fingers, slicing Kouki up in multiple pieces, but Kouki healed right away.

Kouki: “Ah, ah, ah. Blood Chaplets do come in handy!”

He swung his sword at him again, but he stopped it with his hand without blood spilling. Black dots suddenly appeared on Welpen’s skin and shot out of his body like sharp edges of a sword, piercing Kouki over and over while his body healed at every shot, but he couldn’t do anything. Tree roots came underneath the ground and bolted Welpen into the air.

His body turning midair, and blew the tree trunks to pieces.

Kouki: “Hahahahaha! Oh man. You are strong. Brother, let’s go all out. If we can’t win, then we’ll use that.”

Kouki threw a Connector Chaplet down to connect to Welpen, but as he tried to control his mind he heard him say, “Imagination Level 4: Mind Breaker,” which cancelled out the effect.

Yasuhiro threw a Gravy Chaplet at Welpen’s body, but the antimatter did nothing. His black spots on his body still remained. He learned that he wasn’t using mana, but something else. With their moons still activated, they pushed all the mana outwards of their body that covered Welpen completely.

He tried to break out, but struggled. It was the first attack that somewhat was working against him.

Yasuhiro: “Smile Chaplet! Rose Chaplet! Earth Chaplet.”

Kouki: Luck Chaplet! Smile Chaplet! Wasteland Chaplet Condensed!”

Yasuhiro: Brother, now!”

Both: Sunflowers Gated Cage! Titan’s Grove! Mother Nature’s Bounty!”

The influx of barriers surrounded Welpen before he could do anything. 2 completely full mana moons wrapped around him combined with multiple chaplets, and their abilities targeted underneath from the ground to not pierce the layers, but destroy him from underneath without letting him escape.

Yasuhiro: “Visionspree.”

Kouki: “What’s the deal?”

Yasuhiro: “Damn bastard. We barely scratched him.”

The barriers depleted right as he said this and Welpen emerged from the layers of attacks with only a scratch of blood on his right cheek.

Welpen: “Pitiful. You’re ruining my moment! It’s about time I flipped the script! Imagination Level 5: Cancel.”

They stood there ready to evade what was going to happen, but nothing appeared. Finally, Welpen dashed at Yasuhiro and punched him across the face quicker than he could see. He broke his jaw as he flew across the ground. He went to use a Recovery Chaplet, but it didn’t work. ‘Huh?’ he thought.

Kouki kept him busy, but Yasuhiro still didn’t know what was going on. He tried a Healing Chaplet, but that didn’t work either. He couldn’t activate his abilities without being able to talk. He charged in quickly to help Kouki with the strength of his sword, but even with the two of them combined, they couldn’t even scratch his hard skin.

Kouki: “Mother Nature’s Protection! Go brother! You’re fine now.”

He looked at his jaw, which was completely healed now. It wasn’t because of Kouki, but because of the barriers that Ren put on them that was assisting in healing. Kouki had just activated a barrier in front of them now that all of their barriers had been destroyed already by this man.

Kouki: “What the hell are you?”

Welpen: “That is not for you to know. Come on. I’m waiting for a fight.”

Kouki: “Brother, what are your thoughts? I have yet to go all out, but I don’t think it would matter. He’s too quick. I don’t want to waste my mana from my moon.”

Yasuhiro: “Yeah, let’s do it. He’s toying with us and I hate that…Hey! You stupid tree! You listening?! Do it! If this doesn’t work, then we’re forcing you to connect to Beyblue! You understand me?!”

Kouki: “You big piece of crap! Activate already, you stupid tree!”

A massive amount of light appeared below their feet, breaking Yasuhiro’s barrier without hesitation. The light was so large that it blinded Kento and his fight with Black Diamond, who was also fighting with 3 of the 5 leaders and holding his ground, still laughing at the enjoyment that he was having. Kento looked more like a monster than anyone else, but everyone was bleeding, including him.

Kouki and Yasuhiro stood still, taking their swords, and putting them into the ground right in front of them. Tree chunks emerged from the light, surrounding their bodies and extending all over the Dark Mold until a gigantic tree formed right in front of everyone. Kouki and Yasuhiro sat inside, harnessing its powers, which were supposed to be stronger than their moon state.

Since the moon state could not even touch Welpen, they knew they were in trouble. Harnessing the power of the Sacred Tree was one of the last things they could do.

They chanted out together, “By the roots, I rise, the earth is my guide. From the oceans to the sky, Nature’s will is night. Stone and leaf, fire and breeze, I call upon the Primal seas. With the strength of a thousand storms, I command the world to take its form!”

Their swords rattled hard, but then became laced in a coating of green and brown mana that extended far beyond the tips of their blades. Their bodies didn’t come out of the sacred tree though, but the swords lifted from the ground and multiplied in the air.

Welpen: Imagination Level 6: Clearance.”

When he chanted this, he went to target the tree and slice it with his hands, but it didn’t even crack. ‘Huh?’ he thought, but then screamed at Nightmare saying, “Hey! This vessel is useless! He’s not strong enough to do anything!”

Nightmare: “Yes master! I apologize!”

Kento: “Where do you think you’re looking?!”

He cut off Nightmare’s right leg without a second thought before 3 of the deities punched Kento so hard that his moon state dispersed from him.

Kento: “HAHAHAH! MORE! MORE!”

He darted at them and dropped a Trigot Chaplet on the floor, causing reality to glitch. It looked as if everyone disappeared and Kento multiplied his body to have 300 of himself fighting them.

Nightmare: “Who do you think you are, boy?”

Nightmare slashed all the illusions immediately and stabbed the last one in the chest, then cut off his head. He believed it was the true Kento by the way he bled, but Kento deactivated the chaplet to show Nightmare that he just killed one of his own men that he considered a deity.

Kento threw a Beast Chaplet, not on himself, but on one of the other deities, causing them to transform. It made it easier to pierce them if their armor was not on. He targeted the deity, but Nightmare stepped in front, grabbed his sword and snapped it in half.

Kento: “HAHAHA! Like I give a crap! I already made a covenant with it…Reform!”

The sword healed like nothing happened and was thrusted through Nightmare’s body. His wounds healed too quickly though as he punched Kento across the floor. “Pointless,” he said.

Kento: “I’m having fun! Sphere Chaplet!”

He turned into the very sword that he had, but much like Kouki and Yasuhiro’s ability, he was able to fully control where he went just like he was in a human body. Nightmare figured this out quickly that his body was still technically attached to the sword. He grabbed it midair, snapped it in half, forcing Kento’s body to come back and then he pierced his heart.

Nightmare: “Your world will not exist for much longer. If you are the peak of its strength, then we will surely conquer without hesitation. You are nothing.”

Kento reached his hand out, coughing up blood, but all he could do as he was dying was smile and laugh before he passed out.

The three deities walked back to their spots, allowing Nightmare to finish off everyone else with the help of Welpen. Iki’s father had still sat back, not doing anything. They all awaited this pitiful fighting to be over.

Nightmare: “Okay, Lord Welpen is fine over there. I guess I’ll take out the others. This shouldn’t be too diff–”

Nightmare’s head was completely cut off before he could say another word. Out of nowhere, Kento appeared, not dead at all, and completely fine.

Kento: “Oh ho ho! I have wanted to use that chaplet for so long! Even Michiaki Sen does not know it exists. The Infinite Paradox Chaplet. I sacrificed an eyeball for this, so you better respect it, Nightmare. Get up. I know you’re not dead. I can see the many hearts you have inside your body. I just chose to keep fighting. Be grateful and grow your head back before I kill you in this instant!”

Nightmare slowly grew his head back on his neck, confused at what had happened.

Nightmare: That’s quite an ability you have. If you had used that against Lord Welpen, then he would’ve adjusted very quickly. If that is your trump card, then you don’t stand a chance.”

Kento: “My trump card?! Ha! This is just a chaplet, silly! Although, now I know the weakness of everyone in this room and the history of all of you. Reality bends for me with this chaplet. You won’t be able to kill me. As of this moment, I know everything about all of you. I am invincible! KIll me again! Let’s see what happens, shall we?!”

Nightmare: “How pitiful.”

Kento: “Oh? I guess that means I should go after Welpen then. You’ll fight harder if I kill your leader right?”

Kento sprinted at Kento, reactivating his moon state, which was on par with Kouki and Yasuhiro’s ability right now combined. He cut up Welpen’s body without him being able to counter, but he whispered this chant.

Welpen: “Imagination Level 7: Heal.”

Even with the constant barrage of attacks, Welpen was healed, however, small bits he realized were not healing. Nightmare ran to attack, but was cut up by blades as well. Kento was slicing in so many directions that nobody could enter without being sliced.

Kouki and Yasuhiro’s sword dashed around the attacks by centimeters, entering the playing field of Kento and Welpen, targeting Welpen’s heart.

Welpen: “Imagination Level 8: Stop!”

Every ability halted for a moment, and Kento felt himself freeze similar to the effects of the Time Chaplet. ‘What a cheap ability,’ he thought, but he enjoyed the fight regardless of what they used. Adapting to it was too fun for him. He bit down on a Wight Chaplet as Welpen threw a punch at him, which phased right through his body.

Kento: “Fools Gold!”

He shattered out of the frozen state he was in and sliced his blade right down the middle of Welpen with an insane amount of mana built up in his sword. Kouki and Yasuhiro did not stop either, and switched this time, targeting Nightmare with their swords in an endless barrage. Nightmare broke through the swords, but vines whipped out from the blades, entangling him with mana filled shields individually encasing every part of his skin. He couldn’t move for the time being, but Welpen’s body regenerated right in front of Kento.

Kento: “Ha! Why don’t you look right here then?!”

Kento revealed his glass eye that was the red glowing chaplet, creating the same entranced state for Welpen that he did for Nightmare earlier, killing one of the deities, however this time it was different.

The Dark Mold dispersed in this illusion, revealing the Lands of Toff for Welpen. It’s like the entire Dark Mold did not exist and the sun shone down over his face. He was irritated at its heat. He walked forward with one step, breaking the chaplet’s effect to Kento’s surprise.

Kento: “Guess I should have saved that Imagination Chaplet for you. Nightmare was not much of a challenge. Let me fight you now.”

Welpen: “Yet you didn’t defeat him. You’re weak. Those tiny orbs are pointless. I’m finally warmed up. The synchronization is at 100%. Although this vessel is not the best, it will work.”

Welpen stepped forward again with his left foot this time and sent Kento flying back, also completely tearing apart the Sacred tree’s powers. Kouki and Yasuhiro were exposed, but mana still shrouded around them intensely, protecting them from the shock of Welpen, however, blood ran down both of their noses.

‘We got hit?’ they both questioned in their minds.

Nightmare appeared in between both of them, grabbing their heads, slamming them into the ground, and throwing them across the Dark Mold where Kento was.

Blood ran down all of their faces. Their bodies were bruised and some type of poison was spreading. “Fools Gold,” Kento called out, healing himself, but not caring for the other two. Ren’s powers took effect and he healed them.

Ren: “Hurry up you idiots! I’m running out of mana and these fools over here aren’t doing good!”

Natsuki: “Kento! You are the strongest, right?! Kill those bastards! We’re fine over here! I’m controlling the two shards enough! Even with my teammates down, these meatheads won’t beat me down! I love my friends too much to fall short! Go!”

Kento: “Hehehe. I don’t need your motivational pep talk, Natsuki. I’m gonna beat the crap out of these guys.”

Ryoko suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He ran up to hug Welpen, knowing that he was still in there. He cried, but couldn’t say a word.

Nightmare: “Ah! Splendid! The other vessel has finally arrived! Now, the true prophecy will be fulfilled. Come, my child.”

Nightmare tried to do the same thing to Ryoko that he did to Welpen. Isara and Sayo wouldn’t allow this.

Sayo: “Dragon’s Inferior Journey!”

Light blue and orange dragons made of mana attacked at a lightning speed towards Nightmare, trying to get the boy out of his grasp. Nightmare put up his hand, creating a large red cube that sucked in the dragon's power.

But…

The dragon’s power was not sucked in, but cracked the cube instead. Welpen laughed knowing that she was truly worthy of becoming his wife.

Isara activated her slow motion state again, which nobody knew about still. She walked up to Ryoko, grabbed his arm, and started to pull him away. She noticed something though. When she walked to Welpen, she saw out of the corner of her eye, but tried to ignore it, scared of if it was true.

Welpen’s eyes followed her towards Ryoko. He grabbed her arm instead.

Welpen: “Well, what do we have here? What a fine power you have. I couldn’t even sense it until my synchronization. I will take you as well as my adopted child.”

He threw her over to the deities who grabbed her arms and legs, ensuring that she couldn’t move. Everyone wondered how she got there all of a sudden. “Isara!” Ine, Sarz, and Liz screamed out, but were too exhausted to do anything. Within all the chaos, they only killed 2 of the guards that approached them before they ran out of mana. Everyone here had the strength of a Great Swordsman.

Isara was lucky to have killed 2 of them while Natsuki, Yahiko, and Sayo along with the witches killed a handful as well. About half the army was down, but Yahiko could no longer fight, and the witches were beginning to drain their Cryen. Natsuki was solely fighting all of them along with Sayo, but the two of them struggled even with the two shards on Natsuki’s swords.

Ren was starting to drain his mana, having to protect everyone here. He was completely regenerating people’s mana to fight again, but the toll was taking a heavy hit on him.

Nightmare activated a power that was similar to what he did for Welpen. Ryoko emerged from a massive light like a brand new person. His hime hairstyle remained the same with his orange eyes and brown cape, but he was the same height as Welpen now, like he was an adult.

He wore similar black gloves to Welpen, and necklaces that matched. They were almost the same person in a sense, overwhelming with strength.

Nightmare: “Yes! Yes! Let us add to that strength!”

Nightmare pulled 3 of the remaining deities' souls into Ryoko’s body, empowering him with even greater power. He only left Iki’s father that remained in the back, still not doing a thing, but watching.

Kento smiled, but Yasuhiro and Kouki looked over at him to see that his body was shaking even in the slightest. The three of them couldn’t take down Nightmare or Welpen and now they just added someone new to their crew. A boy, now grown into a man with a bow and arrow on his back as his weapon.

Kento wanted to make an example of Black Diamond earlier because he pissed him off, so he used his chaplet, however he needed it in this moment against these entities.

He reached in his pocket, but didn’t have many chaplets left. His swords only contained what he had from before, which wouldn’t do much besides for the Acinium Chaplets. He figured he would have one more shot.

He stood up and walked with his head down towards the three of them. They held their hands out together, creating 3 large red cubes around Kento. He broke three Acinium Chaplets, cancelling out the effects for good and bolted specifically at Nightmare. Ryoko fired an arrow at him that spilled out colors all over, not with mana, but with a Dark Mold substance. Welpen went to punch him yet again, but he threw down 2 more Acinium Chaplets, negating their attacks and with all the strength he had left, he sliced up Nightmare into a billion pieces to the point where he couldn’t regenerate.

Kento: “Serves you right, idiot bastard…”

Ryoko and Welpen fired the same attacks at Kento, which hit this time. He didn’t have a Healing or Recovery Chaplet, and Ren was out of mana. A giant hole pierced the side of his torso as he coughed up blood.

Welpen: “You certainly took a while to take down. These…Chaplets. I don’t like them. It is cheating to heal yourself like that.”

Ryoko fired another arrow towards Kouki and Yasuhiro, blasting hundreds of small holes into their bodies. The Sacred Tree wrapped them up from underneath the ground and took them someplace else.

Welpen: “Now, who has them? Ah, I see. That man over there.”

He pointed at Natsuki who had almost killed the entire army on his own at this point. He approached him at a fast pace, reaching his hand out.

Sayo: “Killing Dragon!”

Small dragons appeared right in front of Welpen’s face out of thin air and exploded, but when the smoke cleared, he was completely fine.

Welpen: “Yes! I must take you to be my bride!”

Ryoko fired an arrow at her leg, piercing her, and didn’t let her regenerate. He took her over to where Isara was, now being held by Iki’s father.

Akuma Kashi, Agatha Rekka, and Akari Rekka were the only ones that hadn’t engaged this entire time.

Natsuki: “Agatha! Now!”

Akuma came out of nowhere with the 2 shards that the Dark Mold had stolen from them. Natsuki threw his 2 shards to Agatha as well. She held all 4 and ran as fast as possible with Akari outside of the Dark Mold’s boundary.

Welpen: “NO! Ryoko!”

Ryoko fired an arrow that grew in size rapidly as it approached them, but they were too quick, and Ryoko was not fully synchronized yet with his body. The arrows did not reach them and they darted outside.

Welpen: “Well, no need to bother with that. I must marry this beautiful woman over here. Come, Ryoko.”

He looked over at Iki’s father, whose name had yet to be revealed, and to all of the people here, it did not matter, but if Iki had heard this, then he would’ve questioned everything.

Welpen: “Let’s go everyone. These soldiers are weak. Ryoko, you can consume the rest of them. Kalbokulus, take those two girls into the hut. Once I am married, then you can use the girl to regain your height and strength. Oh, and Nightmare. Get up already you fool.”

Nightmare’s body glued back together on its own like nothing had happened. “Yes, master,” he said and winked at Kento. Kento laughed, eager to fight him again, but he tried to move and couldn’t. He needed to find a Healing Chaplet quickly.

With everyone already battered to the ground, Welpen said, “Imagination Level 8: Fold In.”

The Dark Mold began to collapse on itself. Arata Sanji, who had been hiding as well as a backup, swept in and gathered everyone. He didn’t have time to bring his real body here, but he was slowly working on it with the distance that he had to travel. His clone was not strong enough to defeat anyone with greater strength than Black Diamond and even then he would struggle, so he let everyone else fight, waiting to see if something bad were to happen, completely masking his presence from even Welpen.

He grabbed everyone and he ran outside before the Dark Mold collapsed, as the injuries added up and success was also somewhat a defeat.
