Chapter 15:
Swim!
Look at him talking like he knows more than a teacher. Yeah, right, he is so full of himself and annoying.
Words from the past were going through Finn's head as he was watching the fight in front of him.
This isn't the time to back down...
The boy was trying to get ahold of himself.
Okay, let's do this.
While the remaining five thieves were focused on fighting Camellia, Tyson, the crew, and Miss Cherry, Finn and Marina stayed unnoticed. He used that to sneak up on the thieves.
Finn moved carefully. When he and Marina came closer but still remained at a safe distance, they stopped walking.
Finn opened his sack that was tied around his waist with one hand and raised in the air the other with a ring on.
Pink topaz glowed brightly. Everyone on the deck, including the thieves, noticed the light, but it was too late; just as they turned, Finn had already taken more than half of their gemstones. Now each of them was left with only three.
"Oh no, I was nervous and failed." Finn was slightly panicking.
"But you did it." Marina tried to cheer him up.
"Yeah, but not all of them. And now look at their scary angry faces. They are coming." Finn was a bit scared, but he tried to cover it.
"You brat!" One of the thieves yelled.
"Finn, go back inside this instant!" His mother said with a serious yet worried expression on her face.
"No, Mom, I came here to help." Finn tried to remain calm.
The thieves combined their powers and pushed hard against Miss Cherry and her crew. Tyson and Camellia barely dodged the attack.
"Mom!" Finn yelled.
Next, the thieves created a barrier and trapped them all inside of it except for Finn and Marina, who were outside of their range.
"Damn it, I can't break this thing with my fire." Tyson commented while sounding irritated.
"Me neither." Camellia added.
"They must have combined fairy magic with fragmenian." Miss Cherry said.
"But we beat all the fairy thieves. How can they help them?" Camellia was confused.
"I don't know, but most likely one of them is still there hiding."
"You think the thief used an invisibility spell?" Camellia asked.
"Perhaps," Miss Cherry replied.
"But if that's true, then Finn and Marina are in big trouble. We have to get out of here right now." Camellia was worried.
"Boys, use all your strength if you have to; we must break this barrier." Miss Cherry said to her crew.
"Yes, boss!" They all started attacking the barrier. Unfortunately, no matter how hard they tried, the barrier remained undamaged.
"I maybe have an idea." Tyson wanted to help.
"I'm listening." Miss Cherry looked at him.
"What if we combine our abilities too?" Fiery Boy suggested.
While they were figuring out their escape plan, Finn was fighting the thieves. He created a small barrier and shaped it into a box. Then the boy put the gemstones that he previously took from the thieves inside the box and tossed it in the passageway.
Alright, now I know that one of the remaining gems that they still have is for force. Luckily, Mom and the others are all okay.
Finn was thinking in his head.
"How did he do that?"
"I don't know."
The thieves were commenting among themselves on what Finn did.
"We can think about it later. Let's finish this now and run." One of them said to the others.
"Yeah," they agreed.
Before they could even attack, Finn created a barrier around him and Marina.
"Phh, you think you're smart. A kid like you can't fight and defend at the same time. You'll run out of energy pretty soon." The thief was laughing at the boy.
"Besides, how strong can the barrier of some high schooler really be?" He continued to mock the boy. Other thieves laughed as well.
The one in the middle attacked Finn with force. However, to his surprise, their barrier still remained.
"Stubborn kid, huh?" He said.
"Ahh okay, I guess we'll have to get serious, boys. You see the kid wants to play a hero; let's give him what he wants." He said to his group. They all attacked at the same time, combining force with strength and speed.
There was a big explosion of the energy.
"Ooof, did we go overboard?" The thief laughed.
Once the dust had cleared out, they could still see Finn and Marina standing with the barrier around them.
"What?!" All five of them were shocked.
"You are right, I can't attack and defend at the same time." Finn removed the barrier.
"But my PE teacher said I was really fast." The boy smirked.
He attacked them with quick force.
They didn't take a lot of damage but were still hit by the attack.
"That was so fast!" They commented out loud.
"Okay, I see what's happening. The kid wants to repeat his homework. Guess what, brat, this isn't your classroom, and I think it's time I teach you what real life looks like." The thief said to the boy.
"Oh no, this is exactly what I was worried about." Miss Cherry commented while looking at the fight from the inside of the barrier.
"We have to hurry up."
"I'm trying the best I can." Tyson replied.
"Don't worry, Miss Cherry, Finn is strong." Camellia tried to comfort her.
"I know that... But that's exactly why I'm worried." Miss Cherry replied.
"Take that!" All five of them attacked at the same time again.
Finn created a shield to block the attack.
"Phh, defense again. That way you won't beat us, kid."
"Ahhh, let's just go; I'm getting tired. We got what we wanted, and it's not like anyone can stop us from leaving."
One thief said to the other.
"True, but I feel kind of lame to not be able to beat a single kid. You know, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth."
"I know, but you know what's worse than that feeling? Prison."
"True." Let's go.
They agreed.
"Wait, you're just going to leave your friends behind?" Finn asked them.
"Ha ha, friends? In what world do you live in, Kidtopia?" Thieves were mocking Finn.
"They're not my friends, just colleagues on the same job. They won't take it personally." He was still laughing.
"You call stealing a job?" Finn said with a serious expression on his face.
"That's it, I'm not leaving until I beat this kid!" The thief was now angry.
Okay, this time I have to succeed.
Finn thought before using his ring again.
He managed to avoid the thief's attack and take the remaining three gems that he had.
"Aghh, what?!" The thief was irritated.
"He has some kind of magnet for gems!"
One of them said out loud.
"Ugh, I don't care; just give me your gemstones!" He yelled.
"Alright, but be careful." They warned him.
"Phhh, it doesn't matter because I'll destroy that brat!" The thief spoke with annoyance in his voice.
"And you there, fairy brat, get out this instant and help me!" He raised his voice again.
Suddenly a boy with wings appeared out of nowhere.
"That's right, stop hiding and help me fight like a real man." He said to the obviously frightened fairy boy.
"But you wanted me to use my invisibility spell and to help you from the distance." He was afraid.
"Just do it or say goodbye to your family!"
"Oookay." The fairy boy was still shaking.
The thief moved fast and kept on attacking Finn in anger without stopping.
The boy would defend himself every time, but it was quite obvious that something was holding him back. Finn was lost in his thoughts.
Why am I still holding back? This is serious, and yet I'm just standing here.
Finn was feeling anxious.
The boy was nervous and lost in his thoughts.
In the middle of the fight, a flashback played in his head.
