Chapter 41:
Echoes Beneath Forgotten Stars Volume 2
Noirelle stood in a palace corridor on Akarihoshi, sensually sensing Akihiko’s energy. Her royal posture and calm exterior concealed a hidden longing—but the moment she sensed his heart restless, something fluttered within her that she hadn’t expected. This was not restlessness because of her.
Her eyes focused on Akihiko, watching every movement, every subtle change in his breathing and aura. Something shook her—the feeling that his heart was elsewhere, that someone else occupied the space meant solely for her. Of course. Aiko had regained her power, and it had slightly revived Akihiko’s heart… he hadn’t completely forgotten her.
Noirelle (softly, to herself): “I must not lose him.”
Her energy tensed slightly, darker tones forming around her. For a moment, it seemed as though Akihiko could feel her gaze, yet he remained calm, though a silent unrest stirred within him that she could not overlook.
Noirelle: “He is not… with me. His heart is still connected to her. His loyalty, his feelings… are not mine.”
A mixture of determination and longing awoke within her. She knew that merely observing him would not suffice—she would have to act if she wanted to win his heart. Noirelle gazed across the hall of Akarihoshi, her eyes shining with resolve. A subtle shift in the air began to take place—a faint, yet constant pressure of her energy, like an invisible current searching for weaknesses around her.
Noirelle’s inner monologue: “If I want to capture Akihiko’s attention and control, I must start with everyone who represents his strength and support. The men here will have to follow me. Only then can I ensure the world bends as I desire.”
Her aura spread, subtle, almost imperceptible, yet strong enough for the men in the room to feel a slight confusion and inner unrest. Her energy was manipulative, yet alluring—simply impossible for anyone to remain entirely resistant.
Every man in Akarihoshi, especially Akihiko, felt a subtle longing, a bewilderment—without being able to name it precisely. Noirelle, smiling, almost coldly, observed their reactions:
Noirelle (softly, almost whispering): “All of you will follow me… even the prince, whom I desire so deeply, will be no exception.”
Her determination was clear—her army would take shape, and Akihiko would become the center of her power. She focused on Akihiko; his presence was like a magnet for her energy. His heart was restless, yet there was no longer room for doubt or resistance—her power was overwhelming, subtle yet unstoppable.
Akihiko tried to remain calm, but he felt her energy subtly wrapping around him, forcing him to stop. His will, otherwise as solid as metal, slowly softened under her sovereignty.
Akihiko’s inner monologue: “What… what is this? Why can’t I think clearly? This energy… it is… unstoppable.”
Noirelle spoke gently, yet decisively:
“Akihiko… listen to me. Everything I desire will be yours. Follow me.”
At her words, Akihiko felt like a heavily anchored ship steered by the currents of a powerful sea—he could not resist, nor did he want to. His gaze remained, yet under her influence, his will was surrendered to her.
Her plans were unfolding: the prince, strong and independent, now submitted to Noirelle. Her aura surrounded the room and affected all the men present, but Akihiko remained her primary target—the heart she would have only for herself.
Noirelle sat on the elevated throne in the royal hall of Auralis, Akihiko standing before her, completely under her influence. Her aura enveloped the room; all the men subconsciously felt her power, yet now he was her main focus.
Noirelle (calmly, yet decisively):
“Akihiko… my will is your will. Now that you are here with me, everything you do will be in accordance with me.”
Akihiko struggled to retain his thoughts, yet every act of resistance felt like an effort he could not manage. His heart beat faster, but not of his own volition—of hers.
Noirelle: “That is why I have been considering… marriage. You and I. Forever. There is no other way. No one will be able to turn you away from me.”
As she spoke, her influence intensified—every glance, every heartbeat of Akihiko was now directed solely at her. Her strategy was clear: to officially bind the prince to herself, creating a current around him that he would have to follow, gradually realizing her vision of an army under her control, with him at its center.
Noirelle’s inner monologue: “With this, my influence will be complete. His love, longing, and loyalty… all will be mine.”
Naoru and Mika walked through the palace gardens. Naoru appeared slightly distant, his usual sparkling laughter less lively, gestures less relaxed. Mika looked at him, tilting her head slightly, concerned.
Mika (softly, with slight worry):
“Naoru… are you okay? You seem… different.”
Naoru smiled, yet the smile did not reach his eyes, and he quickly changed the subject to mask his inner change:
“Yes, yes, everything’s fine… just a little tired, nothing special.”
Mika nodded, but the feeling that something was off lingered. She did not know that the source of this change was Noirelle’s power, subtly guiding Naoru to submit to her influence.
Mika quietly walked through the palace hallways, hearing conversation coming from the royal hall. She listened.
Queen (with a worried voice):
“We cannot marry him off so quickly, King. This is not the time… it is not the right moment for such a decision.”
King (unusually resolute, almost harshly):
“No, the decision is made. There is no room for doubt. Akihiko will follow his duty.”
Mika felt unease; the warmth and wisdom she usually sensed in his voice were gone. Something was… wrong.
As she stepped back to remain unnoticed, she continued down the castle corridors. Through open doors, she noticed that other men, usually reliable, also behaved somewhat detached, as if a foreign influence guided their thoughts and decisions.
Mika froze for a moment, worried.
“What is happening? What is this energy spreading through the palace?” she thought.
Every new room, every new step brought more unusual changes—men who were always trustworthy now obediently followed something unnatural. Only now did Mika begin to sense that someone—or something—had taken control of their decisions.
The name she had recently heard flashed in her mind: Noirelle. She sensed that all these changes were coming from her.
Mika quietly moved through the halls, her heart racing as she thought of how to warn the queen without being detected—especially by Noirelle. She turned a corner, hiding behind a pillar so that no one would see her movements.
In her mind, she recalled all the unusual behavior of the men—the king, the prince, the guards… all seemed under some kind of hypnosis.
Quietly but determined, Mika approached the queen’s private chamber. When the queen wasn’t paying direct attention, Mika spoke:
“Your Majesty, something is wrong. Something powerful is influencing all the men in the palace. Even though I don’t know everything, we must act before it’s too late.”
The queen looked at her, surprised, but she also sensed the seriousness in Mika’s words.
Queen: “Tell me everything you know, Mika. We cannot ignore this. And… even the king is behaving differently now. He is no longer the same as I knew him.”
Mika began describing the changes she had noticed and her suspicions about Noirelle’s influence. Her concern was genuine—she felt that the future of the palace and everyone around it was at risk if they did not act.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Aiko secretly took the boy home, because he had nowhere to sleep. That evening, in her room, she pondered how she could reach Akarihoshi. The boy was silent, but his gaze unsettled her… he reminded her so much of Akihiko.
Finally, she asked: “What’s your name? Where do you come from?”
The boy replied:
“I would gladly tell you, but I cannot. I can only guide you… just believe in yourself. You are stronger than you realize.”
Aiko, still confused, thought: “How can I get to Akarihoshi? What should I do?”
Then she remembered the special bond between her and Akihiko, a connection that even the universe could not sever. Yet she still could not reach him—Akihiko was under Noirelle’s influence.
She decided to try through Mika, her best friend. When she connected with Mika’s mind, she succeeded in reaching her.
Aiko: “Mika… I need to get to Akarihoshi, but I don’t know how.”
Mika suddenly remembered everything—everything about Aiko, all their adventures on Akarihoshi, past dangers… and thought in disbelief: “How could I have forgotten all of this?”
Mika’s inner monologue: “Of course, all of this is Noirelle’s doing. Somehow I have to reach Aiko, but I’ll need someone by my side. Together, we can overcome what Noirelle plans… and free those who are under her control.”
