Chapter 21:

The Hero Elf village

Rebirth of Science: Empire of Hope

Forest interior. The camera descends from above, peeking through dense leaves, the buzzing of insects audible. Suddenly, the ground shakes between the thick tree trunks, birds scatter in fright. A bison monster truck leaps out from the forest. The camera rises from the ground up, showing the massive wheels crushing stones and scattering forest soil.

The motor sound of the vehicle, speeding like a missile through the stones, breaks the forest’s silence. Moris is at the wheel, calm as usual. The camera zooms in on his face: eyes on the road, movements confident. Beside him, Lucas clings to his seat, face pale. The camera focuses on his eyes, showing his dizziness and pale lips. Lucas (trembling, anxious voice): – Master… can’t we go slower? Moris (calmly, his voice drowned by the engine roar): – We don’t have time. Endure it. You’ll get used to this. The camera pulls back above the vehicle. From above: the truck bouncing over stones through the forest, birds fleeing in panic. Lucas (holding his head, eyes watery): – At least… are we almost there? Moris (half-smiling): – A little further. Hang on. You’re a warrior. The camera shows the dark cave from the forest distance. The monster truck slows, wheels screeching on rocks as it stops. Moris (getting out, looking back): – We’re here. Come on, Lucas. The camera focuses on Lucas’s face. He wobbles, barely standing, ears ringing, eyes still spinning. Moris (warm smile, firm voice): – That’s it… you’ll get used to it.

Don’t be afraid. Lucas (weakly, still trembling): – Master… can we walk back… Moris (sighing): – We’ll see. Right now, the cave awaits. Moris takes a small vial from his bag and hands it to Lucas. The camera zooms in on the vial – inside, a bluish, shimmering liquid. Moris: – Drink this. Your dizziness will go away. Lucas takes the vial, hesitates briefly, then swallows it without the cap. The camera shows his swallow in slow motion. Moments later, blood flows to his face, eyes clearing. Lucas (slightly relieved, taking a deep breath): – Thank you, Master… Moris pulls a long sniper rifle from his bag, placing it in Lucas’s hands. The camera shows the weight of the weapon, Lucas struggling with the metal. Moris (firmly): – You stay here. When his attention shifts… you hit exactly from his eyes. Don’t worry. You can do this. This isn’t your first time holding a weapon. Lucas (wide-eyed, trembling hands): – M… me? Moris (confidently): – Yes, you. Good luck. The camera shifts to Moris. He disappears into the shadows, entering the cave. The camera follows from behind: stone walls, dripping water from the ceiling, two pitch-black yellow eyes flashing in the darkness fill the screen.

Moris (stern but calm voice): – My friend… forgive me. But this cave is necessary for us. Don’t be upset. A large mithril-scaled lizard hisses, emerging. The camera shows its scales, shimmering like mithril, steam rising from its mouth. It lunges at Moris like a stone. In a flash, Moris swings his hand. A large metal shield appears from his bag, hovering in the air via technomagic, landing right in front of him. The lizard crashes into the shield. The ground shakes, stones scatter. The camera shows the lizard’s stunned face. Seizing the moment, Moris pulls heavy iron chains from his bag. The camera shows the metal clanging, sparks flying as the chains hit the stones. The chains wrap around the lizard, banging against walls. But the lizard’s mithril skin begins absorbing the magic from the chains. Moris (roaring, shouting): – Lucas! Now! His eyes! The camera shifts to Lucas’s face. He watches from a distance, hands trembling, sweat on his forehead, breathing rapid. Lucas (inner monologue, camera close on his iris): – Come on, Lucas… why are you panicking? The fate of the entire village is in your hands… For freedom, for your people! He closes his eyes. The camera shows his breath, trembling hands. Then he opens his eyes, aiming clearly.

The target – the lizard’s glowing eye. The trigger is pulled. The camera slows the shot. The bullet hits the lizard’s eye dead-on, blood and fire erupt. The lizard collapses with a deafening roar. The camera returns to Moris. He exhales deeply, releasing the chains. Sitting on the ground, he smiles briefly. Moris (tired but relieved voice): – Perfect. The mine is ours. Lucas runs up. The camera shows his excitement. Lucas (voice trembling, but happy): – Master! I did it! Moris (smiling, pats his shoulder): – I told you, you could do it. I always speak thoughtfully. Lucas (half-joking, half-proud): – But… you said, “I’ll distract him.” And you tied him up. Moris (narrowing eyes): – Right. His attention was diverted. Not to me – to the chains. And the chains… I controlled them. Lucas (shaking his head, laughing): – Ah, Master… impossible to argue with you. But… how did you control the chains? Moris (calmly): – I can control metals. That’s my magic. Remember, in the forest… Lucas (astonished): – I didn’t notice then… You’re not just knowledgeable, you’re skilled in magic too… Moris (shaking head): – No. Magic alone isn’t enough… you need science. For my magnetic magic, I need to know the laws of magnetism. Lucas (curious): – What’s a magnet?.. Moris (sighs, standing): – Later. I’m tired. For now… let’s inspect the mine’s iron stock. The camera shifts to the pitch-black cave. New secrets hinted, the final shot shows the extinguishing glow of the lizard’s eye. The camera rises. Moris and Lucas exit the forest, leaving the monster truck behind, walking into the cave. Inside – pitch dark. Silence except for stones crunching underfoot.

Lucas (opening his palm, releasing magic fire): – Ignite! The camera shows the small flame close-up from his palm. The light gradually illuminates the cave walls. As the light spreads – broken rails, splintered planks, old rusted carts appear. Moris (scanning the area with his eyes): – This mine was previously used. The camera shows glowing metal shards on the walls in the light. Moris touches them with his palm. Moris: – Yes… metals other than iron are here. Steel… bronze… The camera focuses on a single glowing, unusual metal. Moris approaches, pulling it to his hand with technomagic. Moris (lifting, feeling its weight): – This weight… this strength… This is truly osmium! Treasure! Tell that! The camera shifts to Lucas, staring at his master thoughtfully. Lucas (inner monologue): – Why is he so happy over one metal?.. Lucas (aloud): – What’s this? Moris (holding the metal, smiling): – This is osmium. I’ll explain later. For now, let’s collect the metals. Lucas: – Where do we store them? Moris (confidently): – Don’t worry. My storage magic still has room. Lucas (curious): – How much can your storage magic hold? Moris (honest voice): – I don’t know… haven’t checked. Let’s see now. The camera zooms in on Moris. He places each metal into his storage one by one. In the dark cave, the metals disappear into the storage through magical light effects. After some time, Moris stops, feeling the wall.

Moris (eyes confident): – That’s enough. We need to dig up the remaining metals. Because… I sense three meters away, there’s more iron. Lucas (astonished): – How did you know? Moris (short smile): – I didn’t. I sensed it. Lucas (curious): – How?.. Moris (simply): – I can sense metals. That’s it. Let’s go back. The camera shows the two exiting the cave. The hand lamp goes out, darkness returns. Moris: – Let’s deliver this good news to the Queen. Lucas (smiling): – But… we won’t go back with that big cart, right? Moris (calmly): – I won’t walk. I used too much magic. So we’ll return with that cart. Lucas (nervously): – Again?.. I’m tired… Moris (half-smiling): – Not over rough stones this time. Don’t worry. Let’s go. The camera shows the monster truck entering the village from above. Elves astonished. The vehicle stops at the village palace. Moris and Lucas dismount, entering the hall where Queen Mia sits. In the hall – elders gathered aside from the Queen.

The camera pans from bottom to top, showing Moris and Lucas kneeling. Queen (calm voice): – Yes, report the situation. Moris (confident but simple voice): – You may rejoice. The lizard has been destroyed. The camera shows the elders’ faces. They exchange glances, nodding in joy. A murmur of happiness spreads through the hall. Moris (sighing): – I did nothing. I only diverted attention. All bravery came from Lucas. He killed the lizard. The camera shifts to Lucas. He looks shy but inwardly happy. Queen approaches Lucas. Queen (warm smile): – You defended your people. You are now a pride of this land. Elders praise him, calling him an elf hero. Lucas lowers his head, shyly smiling. The camera shifts to Moris. He stands behind, inwardly proud of his pupil. Moris (stern but warm voice): – The news isn’t over yet. Let’s go to the Workshop. Scene – Workshop The camera enters a workshop with a large door. Inside, old tools, an empty hearth. Moris opens his storage. Metals spill out one by one. The camera shows the mountain of metals from above. Elves are amazed.

Elders’ eyes fill with tears, exchanging glances, rejoicing. Elder (joyful): – Now we can arm ourselves! The youth cheer, hugging and celebrating. Queen (louder voice): – Let’s celebrate this achievement. Today is a feast for us! The camera shows the hall from above. Elves joyful, children laughing. Moris stands aside, smiling at his pupil. Lucas feels both pride and happiness. Scene – Elf village, evening. Villagers light a bonfire in the square, prepare a large festive feast. The sky full of stars. Music plays, children run around. Moris and Lucas sit by the fire, their clothes worn from the journey, but their faces relieved.

Lucas (looking at the fire): — Master… honestly, today still feels like a dream. I can’t believe I killed the lizard, I… today I became a hero. Moris (calm): — Because you’re not just a warrior, you fight for your people. And your people accepted you. The camera pulls back, showing the trees. A hooded mysterious woman watches, astonished: who is this man? He defeated the mithril lizard and is helping the elves… is this truly good or a hidden scheme? The crow flock begins to caw and fly in all directions.
