Chapter 25:

Chapter 25 — Auroral Energy

Isekai Abyss: Life in Another World Is As Bad As My Previous World

Yasu stands under the familiar old tree, the sounds of the forest creating a soothing symphony around him. He's making final preparations to cross the wall when he sees something familiar approach.
A bird, with iridescent feathers in a breathtaking array of green, blue, and purple, descends gracefully from the sky. Its delicate plumage shimmers in the sunlight, creating mesmerizing patterns as the bird alights gently onto Yasu's shoulder.
Yasu lifts his hand, offering the bird a small bunch of freshly picked berries.
"Still you?" he murmurs, offering a handful of berries from his pocket. The bird tilts its head—just like it used to when watching Yasu train beneath this very tree years ago.
"You always did have impeccable timing, my friend."
The bird chirps happily, its delicate beak gently picking at the berries. Yasu rubs his finger along the back of the bird's head, a familiar gesture as old as their bond.
"I'm heading beyond the wall," he shares quietly. "Are you coming?"
The bird's gaze meets Yasu's steadily, as if weighing its answer. After a moment, it gives a soft chirrup, a sound filled with acceptance.
A small huff of laughter escapes Yasu, the bird's response as clear as any words.
"I should've known. Can't get rid of you that easily, can I?" he responds, his hand still gently stroking the bird's feathers. "Guess you're coming along then."
Yasu pauses, his hand instinctively reaching up to stroke the bird’s iridescent feathers as he scans the towering wall stretching endlessly before him. His brow furrows slightly.
"Hm," he murmurs, tilting his head. "No gate? No door?" He studies the seamless structure, its surface unbroken by any visible entrance.
The bird on his shoulder shifts restlessly, as if sensing Yasu's confusion, before letting out a soft chirp that sounds almost... amused.
While running a hand along the rough surface of the wall, Yasu blurts out, "How does one even get through this thing..."
He scratched his hair, "So I guess we just walk through?" He asks aloud half-jokingly.
Yasu's eyes widen in shock as the bird launches into the air, its iridescent wings spreading like a vivid flash of color before disappearing straight through the wall.
Caught off guard, Yasu stumbles and lands on his behind, the impact momentarily jarring him out of his disbelief. As he sits there, staring at the unbroken wall, a mixture of awe and wonder floods his features.
"Well that... that certainly wasn't expected," he mutters.
"But if you can do it..." his mind spinning with possibilities. Maybe, just maybe, if a simple bird could pass through...
Rising to his feet, Yasu takes a deep breath, his heart quickening with anticipation. "Here goes..." he murmurs, stepping forward.
As Yasu gazes at the wall, his eyes narrowing in concentration, he notices something strange: the wall isn't just solid stone and mortar, but bound in auroral energy. The very fabric of reality itself is imbued with it.
As the realization sinks in, the energy within the wall begins to pulse, synchronizing with some unspoken rhythm.
"What the..." Yasu begins, his words cut off abruptly as the wall suddenly absorbs him, swallowing him whole.
