Chapter 32:
I Found my Pathetic Self Transported to Another World after Having my First Love Confession Rejected. Will I be Able to Find the Life I Want to Have here??
“I don’t know… It just doesn’t feel right…”, said Violet.
She shot three fire bolts into the air and then inspected her new staff, a slim metallic one with a silvery halfmoon at the top, who had a tuby placed inside. The Gem glowed faintly.
“Looks fine to me…”, said Caleb sitting a bit to the side and watch the firebolts burst into smaller flames and raining down harmlessly.
“It’s kinda weak, isn’t it?”, commented Cera, while stirring in a pot.
“Yeah… that’s how it feels…”, said Violet.
“I would prefer it that way!”, interjected Caleb.
“Maybe I just have to get used to it better… But hey, Alex! Look! Doesn’t it kinda reminds you of an axe? When I swing it like this?”, said Violet and swung the new staff like a axe.
Alex looked up and watched her imitate his movements. He was surprised at how well she did it.
“Yeah, you’re right…”, he said and had an idea.
“Well enough with my training, let’s get to yours… let’s try going into the berserker state without my help.”
Alex stood up.
“Okay, but I doubt it will work.”, he said
“What did you do the last time?”, asked Violet.
“Hm… nothing special really… I just… when I saw the guy I just got this unbearable urge to punch his head in. I just bottled it up the whole time and then released it all at once when the Duel started and let it take over… kinda…”
“Urge to punch someone… you say…”
They both looked at each other and then slowly turned towards Caleb.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Come here for a minute Caleb.”, said Violet.
Caleb reluctantly got up and stood himself in front of Alex.
“Is it there?”, asked Violet.
“Yeah… but way, way smaller…”, answered Alex after concentrating on Caleb.
“Really…”
“Why do you sound so disappointed… And why do have the urge to punch me in the first place, Alex?”, protested Caleb heavily.
“I… don’t know…”, lied Alex.
“Okay try to concentrate on him and just try to do it… even if just a little bit… I want to check something.”, suggested Violet.
Alex concentrated on the faint urge to punch Caleb and the reason why. He knew it, but he would not say it, since it was embarrassing for him. Unlike with Eduard, where he had real reasons to hate his guts, with Caleb it was just a little bit of plain old jealousy. Alex always hated that part about himself, but now he could maybe use it. Give the hated feeling a purpose. Alex concentrated on the jealousy inside of him. He looked at Caleb and then Violet before closing his eyes and letting the feeling wash over him. It grew and grew. Alex breathed deep, felt his muscles tense up and the familiar feeling of the rage.
“I don’t like how this looks…”, said Caleb.
Alex felt the magical energy entering his body. It felt like his skin and bones got harder and heavier. He sensed Violet touching him.
“Huh… I knew it… Don’t stop! Go on, let’s see how much you can do on your own.”, commented Violet.
Alex let the sensation wash over him. He opened his eyes and looked straight into Violet’s green malachites staring at him. The feeling of rage was completely swept away and every other bad feeling faded.
“Huh… How much weaker do you feel it was than during the duel?”, asked Violet curiously.
“Hmm… I would say maybe fifty times weaker… maybe even less… It’s hard to tell.”, answered Alex after thinking a bit.
“Interesting… Describe what you felt.”
“Ehm… Uhm…”
Violet saw Alex getting flustered and struggling with the answer.
“What did your body feel like?”, she changed the question a bit.
“Like getting harder… and heavier. My body felt tougher in a way.
“That checks… yeah.”
“What do you mean?”
“You my friend seem to have the ability to absorb earth element energy and enter the Berserker state through that.”
“And all that because you have an urge to punch me?... I don’t know how to feel about that…”, interjected Caleb.
“Well, you can continue to not know while we eat… Dinner is ready! I put a little spice in it today, but don’t don’t worry… it’s not hot or anything.”, said Cera after tasting the contents of her pot.
They all grabbed their bowls, portioned up the stew, and then sat around the campfire eating it.
“Want to continue training with these, while we eat?”
“Woah, Alex! Watch out, don’t spill it!”, exclaimed Cera surprised of Alex’s sudden jerk.
Alex had heard the voice of Violet very close to him, or rather directly in his head, which had made him jump up a little. He luckily managed not to spill any of the food. Alex looked over the campfire to Violet sitting directly across from him, giggling quietly and holding her bracelet up. It glowed barely noticeably.
“Sorry, I didn’t want to startle you.”, he heard Violet’s voice again.
I… I just didn’t expect it… but okay… how do you want to train?, he thought.
“Well, how about we just talk, while we eat?”
Okay… what do you want to talk about?
“I don’t know… just some small talk…”
Nice weather we had today, huh?
“Not that small...Tomorrow we will reach the Stahal Mountains and the Kingdom beneath… you exited?”
Yeah! Very!
“Why do you like dwarven culture so much?”
Because they’re cool.
“Stop giggling all to yourself, all of a sudden… that’s creepy… especially from a fire throwing witch…”, said Caleb sitting next to Violet.
She looked at him and did her best evil laugh. Caleb just continued to eat while looking confused, and a bit scared.
That was a very good evil witch laugh!
“Oh, thank you! I practiced very well… It’s a requirement for every woman who wants to learn magic.”
And what is the requirement for men?
“Growing a long a white beard.”
But Yaeon does not have a beard…
“That was a joke, doofus.”
Ah.
“Hm… I wonder if we get any new Information about those bracelets and how to get them off…”
Yeah, would be kind of a waste if we had traveled all the way it was all for nothing…
“Well luckily, something already happened that made the trip more than worth it…”
What do you mean?
“What you did…”
Oh…
“You awakening the Ability to enter Berserker state without my help will surely come in handy sometimes, so it was more than worth it!”
Ah… yes… of course… that… yeah, I bet it will!
“Don’t you like my cooking, Alex? Or why are you making such a disappointment face?”, asked Cera.
“No, no… It’s delicious! The spice is very good!”, said Alex quickly.
“What? Did you expect something different?”
No…
“You know what I’m curious about?”
What?
“How did the Crown Prince know about the duel? It’s all a bit strange, that he just was at the right time at the right place…”
Yeah… he was your type, right?
“What? Oh... ah, yeah sure…”
And he was smiling at you the whole time…
“Was he? Huh… I guess he did… Are you getting jealous?”
What? No!
“Aha… Well, a prince is now a bit out of the league for me… Don’t you remember? I’m not Violet von Tuerkis anymore… The nobility life is behind me. I’m just Violet now… Now, the most I get will be probably just some dude…”
Ah… Do you… regret that decision?
“Not one bit! I feel so free now… Like this thing that was always looming over me is gone now… Thanks to you! I will never forget that, Alex. I mean it truly when I say, thank you… even if I don’t use my mouth right now…”
I… well… I’m happy I could help…
“Hm… we probably will find some Berserker within the Dwarven Kingdom… maybe we could ask them for some help with your training.”
Great Idea!
“But you managing to do it on your own now, is truly astonishing… you doing it with the spell was already a first for a human… But I’m not surprised, that you managed to do it with the earth element… I always thought that it would be the most fitting for you.”
Why? Because I’m dirty and easy to step on?
“No… Because you are loyal, always there and so full of potential. Like the Earth you give support to others, without asking anything in return and if handled correctly you can produce wonderful things. If you look in the right places you even find the most beautiful sights and treasures. And… I bet you would love it the right people step on you… don’t even try and deny it! Remember… I saw a few things of your past…”
“Oi, Alex, are you okay? You’re completely red! Was it that spicy for you? I only used two chillis, I swear!”, said Cera looking at the beet red Alex.
