Chapter 36:

A campsite.

The wrong way to use magic in another world.

After Astra was attacked from behind, I tried to do something. But my dagger was no longer usable, and Alejandro no longer had his sword.

I had no choice.
I used fire strengthening magic on my legs and kicked that creature with the intention of displacing it, but it didn't move at all.
I was still the same weak human, unable to defeat most creatures in this world.

I at least managed to confirm one thing though: its skin had a soft exterior.
But if we carelessly pierced through its body, we were probably going to find more acid inside.

Faylinn: Leo, step away!

Faylinn came running, jumped high into the air, and fired several small fireballs downward into the creature's mouth.
The creature resembling a worm started shaking for a while until it fell.
Once the dark fog was gone, we confirmed it was a plant. Same for the things grabbing Astra's legs.

Both Astra and Faylinn had received acid burns.

Leonel: Girls, I think I know what's happening here. The bald bastard knows that you two are dangerous, and since he doesn't need to use his fire spell on you, he is just trying to kill you using the nara. If he wasted his fire spell just to kill you, then he would have to wait even more time before using it on us.

Astra: I see. So he is just a coward.

Faylinn: He is a weakling after all.

Leonel: Do not underestimate him. He still has a revolver, and who knows what other things he might have.

Alejandro: Guys! Look up!

On the other side of town, up in the air, we could see a large flying nara, and hanging from its legs, the bald bastard... He was using the flying nara for transportation purposes.

Leonel: Son of a b...

While we were staring at the flying bastard, three large flying nara that resembled butterflies came from the east and attacked Astra and Faylinn by releasing some kind of powder over them.

Faylinn quickly launched some fireballs to shoot down the three flying nara above them, and she succeeded. But, there was a problem...

As soon as flames covered her hand when creating a fireball, the powder that had fallen over her body started shining in a purple color and became liquid.

Faylinn: Ehhh, what is this thing!? It's not poison; what is it!?

The purple liquid was some kind of acid. Of course.
It started burning Faylinn's skin even further, while Astra started casting her regeneration spell on her.
Luckily for us, the powder that had fallen over Astra's body did not come in contact with fire and did not become this purple poison that was affecting Faylinn.

Leonel: Xio, please use your breeze spell to get rid of this weird powder on Astra's body.

Xiomara: That should be easy.

Xio slowly blew away all the powder until it was no longer a problem.

Leonel: The bald bastard flew away. We have no chance of catching up with him. Now we will have to wait for him.

Gabriela: What are we going to do now?

Leonel: We will go back to our original plan.

Xiomara: What's the plan?

Leonel: I'll explain once we get to the right place. Astra, you keep healing Faylinn while we move. Everyone else, help me push this empty wagon. We need it a bit further away from the gate.

With everyone's help, we pushed a single empty wagon to a distance of 50 meters away from the eastern gate.

Leonel: Ok everyone, this is our campsite now. And it's also going to be our battlefield. It's time to open our backpacks.

Alejandro: What do you mean?

Faylinn: Yeah! What are you talking about? Why do we even need the wagon?

Leonel: Listen, we will be waiting for him here. The town is his territory. We don't know how many blue crystals he is hiding there. If we fight inside the town, we will fall victim to more surprise attacks.

Astra: I see. So, by slightly changing locations, we are eliminating the surprise element.

Leonel: Exactly!

Faylinn: But why do we need the wagon? Somebody explain it to me!

Leonel: The wagon is going to be a campsite until the bald bastard returns, but it's also going to play an important role in our battle plan.

Faylinn: You are not going to throw a wagon at him, are you?

Leonel: No. In fact, I won't be using the wagon. Alejandro will be the one using it.

Alejandro: Eh?

Leonel: Don't worry, Alejandro. Your job will be quite easy. You won't even have to move.

I then proceeded to explain everything: how we were going to fight, where everyone was supposed to be standing, which items we were going to use and how we were going to use them.
There was one huge unknown variable, though: the nara.
We didn't know how many he was going to summon against us, or what kind of nara they were going to be.
The only thing we knew for sure was that he was definitely going to be summoning more of them.
Which means that Faylinn and Astra were going to be busy dealing with them.
The problem with having the dragongirls deal with the nara was that we, the weak humans, had to handle the bald bastard.
There was no room for mistakes.
If there was even a single mistake...
One of us was going to lose his soul.
I just wished with all my heart that Faylinn and Astra were going to be in perfect shape before the final battle.
If they were not in full health, then our chances of success would be greatly reduced.
