I couldn’t stay inside the house while the war was going on. I stood by my entrance making sure nothing came close despite wanting to see what was going on. I made sure the girls were all inside.
But after hearing that Milta has been killed, I just couldn’t stay any longer.
What awaited in at the scene was a red toasted human. She looked like someone who was deep fried in oil.
There were other allies surrounding her. They sent her magic continuously trying to heal her but to no avail. It had no effect.
“Milta!” I rushed over to where she laid helpless.
She was as red as blood. Her hair was completely burnt and had turned bald. She couldn’t even open her eyes. Both her armor and clothes were burnt.
I held the back of her head raising her from the ground.
“I’m sorry…………..” was what immediately followed from her.
She explained to me all that had happened so far……..
After returning from the front lines a while back, she was anything but alive. What I healed was only a fragment of her. My energy made her body to function again and she became like a zombie. Only a minute part of her remained in that body. She had no idea of what was happening to her until minutes ago when she experienced the same pain she did before. A part of her consciousness returned when she was burnt again.
I didn’t know what to say hearing all that. Milta apologized to me over and over again before she finally took her last breathe as if she was only waiting to tell me all that.
Was what I did to her wrong? Feeding her my energy and making her come back to this world when she doesn’t want to? I couldn’t say if it was wrong or not.
It saddened me a lot to see her go like that. She didn’t deserve to die a miserable death like that. I didn’t know when I picked up my sword and joined the fight. I have to avenge her.
The battle was nowhere near the climax. Almost no damage whatsoever had been done to the demon lord at the time. He released a group of black demons to fight off the heroes and other warriors while he enjoyed the view from above.
The black demons are merciless. A single attack from them was enough to destroy a warrior. The heroes had to let the demon lord at large to focus on them.
I joined the fierce battle aiming directly at the demon lord. He was fast. A lot faster than me in all aspects. He remained calm with his arms together evading all my attacks. He went as far to ignore me like I wasn’t anything special.
For over ten minutes, he only dodged my attacks without returning a single blow.
The fight continued for a lot longer. As if we were playing tag, he kept on evading me. The warriors below all harbor great animosity towards me. It took no time at for them to declare me on the demon lord's side. I was called an accomplice because both the demon lord and the demons refused to attack me. I became desperate to clear my name.
We were in that situation when something unexpected happened. Meila came to get me back. The demon used that chance to take her up in the sky with him. A dark fog appeared from him and Meila disappeared at the climax of the battle.
I lost all my senses seeing that. I attacked him full power with my sword. An extreme amount of dark fog emerged blinding everything in sight. The demon lord was gone after that.
The next thing I knew, I was on a huge platform with magic circles drawn all over. It was like that underground cave. I knew instantly that they were going to teleport me to some place they’ve prepared for demons.
Countless mages in their capes surrounded me with their hands pointed at me. They chanted non stop. I wasn’t able to move my body.
This time around, they got me for good. I become weak when I release that much fog and now they are using it to their advantage.
Palmeerea opened up a purple curtain in the air. She was nowhere near the fight but now has come to save me.
For the first time in my life, I saw her standing running towards me. She fell not a second later and continued to try.
All the people surrounding me disappeared into thin air when she appeared. They moved back very faraway and continued chanting.
“Stay back!!” she fell countless number of times. Her skin was bruised all over. It was not used to that kind of treatment.
I yelled at her telling her to stop. Something told me that was what the mages wanted. They were going to teleport both me and her at the same time.
“Damn it!” if only I could move.
I couldn’t stand the sight of Palmeerea falling down after every few steps. She was like a baby learning how to walk. Her legs weren’t strong enough.
She showed extreme determination on her face. She was prepared to do anything to get me out of that circle.
A strong thick purple fog followed her as she came closer to me.
The enemies stood faraway waiting for her to do just that.
At her current rate, it would take over thirty minutes for her to walk 100 meters where I was kneeling. Despite wanting her to go back, I just couldn’t stand seeing her like that.
I shouted “Fly!!” before she finally remembered she could fly.
Hearing that, she allowed her body to leave the ground floating towards me. Her injuries began to heal before she arrived to me.
The magic circle surrounding me glowed stronger when she entered it.
Oh no! I told her to come but now what!?
Before she landed in front of me, she glanced at the chains all over my body {Look what they’ve done to you~! I’ll kill them all!}
“No…… please, don’t do that.”
{But…..}
“It’s okay. I’m used to this by now. Let’s leave this place before the circle starts working.”
She nodded at my suggestion then shattered the chains from my body when she knelt next to me. From afar, it would look as though we were on a picnic. Her expression changed when she tried breaking the circle {Huh? Huh? The destination has already been set!? what do we do!? it cant be stopped!!”
BAD-UMP!!
Huh? What does that mean?
{The destination!! it! It!} she panicked for the first time ever.
“Palmeerea. Calm down. What’s wrong?”
The magic circle around me was specially made to entrap demon lords. It took several years to perfect. The whole point of it is to send the demon lord to a location not of this world. There, he will be imprisoned for eternity. Palmeerea is able to break the circle altogether. However, that would bring forth an entirely different result. I would disappear without a trace.
Thinking about it like that, she burst into tears. Her fog grew stronger the more angry she got. It covered the whole circle. No one can see us anymore. It would continue to spread if nothing was done. It would spread far and wide until everyone in the capital dies.
“Palmeerea, try to contain your fog. I don’t want you to kill thousands because of me. I want you to live normally…………….” I began to cry myself talking in a farewell tone.
Sobbing repeatedly she explained the reason she was crying {That’s……….. That’s not it!………… there is a way to prevent the worst from happening but…………. I’ll have to send you somewhere faraway and I cant do that!!}
The already started teleport cannot be stopped. However, Palmeerea can change the destination to a known destination in this world.
If that’s the case then “Do it.” being in this world is a billion times better than being sent to somewhere unknown. As long as I’m still in this world. We can meet again. A lot faster than you may think. Now that I’m able to fly, I can travel from the ends of the world faster than anyone else.
Do it Palmeerea. Do it for us. You have to do it despite how much it may hurt.
Hesitated isn’t the right word. Rather, she refused to do it until the time was almost up. The thought of me leaving her shook her greatly. It was despairing for her. She remained silent overflowing with tears holding my hands. The only reason she did it was because it was inevitable.
“You have to promise me one thing. Wait here for me. In your state, you’ll leave a wake behind everywhere you go. It’s too dangerous for you to come after me. Countless people will die. I want you to go back home in your barrier and wait for me. And promise me that you wont kill anyone. Be patient until I return.”
Because of all the fog, I couldn’t see how she changed the teleport. One thing I felt was the change in the barrier. It became hotter and glowed stronger than it had before. I knew instantly that she was overwriting the programmed barrier.
“HY~~A~~A~~!!” she yelled in tears when it was time.
I held her head with both my arms crying as well.
“This is goodbye for now.”
Before the teleport started, I pushed my head to her and kissed her with all my might and feelings attached. It was the first time I poured my whole life into a kiss.
What’s this!? what I felt from that kiss was not just pleasure. It was energy. An enormous amount of energy was coming into me from her mouth. It was so strong I felt like I could fight a demon lord again.
“U~~N~~~~NN~~N~~~~!!!!” I moaned from the burst of energy.
The warm feeling of her lips slowly left my lips. It was the signal that the teleportation had already started.
“Thank you. Palmeerea.”
What I didn't know at the time was that I had sucked away Fifty percent of Palmeerea's magic.
