Chapter 33:
Anomaly; Enemy of the Gods
The king, who was smashed against the wall, slowly stood up and removed his cape. His body was hurting slightly. To his surprise, Tiberius possessed a power unlike anything he had previously described. This enraged him even more, prompting him to do something he had not done in years: fight.
He used air magic to close the gap between himself and the intruders and punched Yareth, propelling him forward a few steps.
Tiberius, still confused by the vision, was kicked in the face and collapsed on the ground.
“How dare you question me?” He asked, putting his foot on Tiberius’s stomach.
Yareth stood up immediately after being hit and clenched his muscles. Using his magic, he created a metal spear and hurled it at Tharos.
He caught it before the spear hit him, but because Yareth used his 'Strength' ability, the king was pushed back a few steps.
"My son is attempting to kill me." Tharos said disappointedly, “How could you fall for their tricks?”
“Shut it,” said Yareth, rushing at him and swinging his fist. King blocked it and threw a kick at him. Yareth dodged and attacked back.
They kept hitting each other, blocking or dodging attacks, and attempting to overpower each other. While Tharos clearly had the upper hand, Yareth refused to give up and gave his all.
Seeing that he can’t win like this, Yareth began to use magic. He jumped a bit away and attacked his father with fire attacks. The king would use air magic to extinguish them, slowly walking toward him.
Suddenly, something hit King’s leg and he fell over on his back. Tiberius kicked his leg, causing him to fall.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Yareth grew another spear in his hand and jumped into the air toward the king, attempting to pierce him with it.
King immediately touched the ground. The part under Tiberiu’s leg became a hole and he fell into it, only having his head outside. Then the king used air magic to push himself further without standing up and got away a bit.
Yareth’s attack did not work and he had to throw the spear at the king aimlessly, which did not work at all. He held Tiberius and pulled him. “Mind helping me here?” Yareth spoke, breathing heavily.
Getting out of the pit, Tiberius jumped toward the king. King smiled, seeing that Tiberius was attacking him aimlessly like an amateur. But suddenly, time slowed down. Tiberius' speed remained constant, while everything else slowed. He used gravity to propel himself over the king. Then he clenched his muscles, covered his entire arm in mana, and used his ability 'Strength.' He punched the king on the back, causing him to fly to the opposite side of the room. Time immediately resumed its normal flow.
King stood up again, patting the dust from his clothes. "You lied to me about not having any powers. You did indeed have a secret.
“I didn't lie; you did,” Tiberius replied.
“It does not matter. After I am done with you, I wonder if you will be able to speak, let alone lie to me again.”
Saying that, the king rushed toward Tiberius, again by using air magic. Yareth acted quickly and blocked his way, lifting his foot to kick his head. The king blocked, but he had to step away. He wanted to throw Yareth away by holding his leg, but magma began to drip from his foot, not allowing the king to grab it.
Their back-and-forth encounters continued. Yareth and Tiberius would take turns and attack the king once from different directions, then step back to find another opening. And King would block nearly all the attacks, except for some of Tiberius’s ones, since he would use ‘Time’ magic.
This continued for a few more minutes and began to tire both Yareth and Tiberius. King was also sweating, but his experience had taught him how to control his mana and energy, so he appeared to be in a better position.
At one point, Yareth couldn't attack and stood back for a couple of seconds. King immediately used this chance, activating ‘Leader’s aura’ and causing Yareth to fall on the ground. With a fast move, he closed the distance and kicked the prince on his head, leaving him nearly unconscious. His ears began to ring and his breathing was out of control. He had lost the fight because he was unable to continue.
Tiberius saw this and tried to act quickly to put an end to it. He never hit the king too hard because he didn't want to kill him, just get answers. Seeing Yareth on the ground, he attacked the king with his ability out of anger.
But the king was aware of this. He was experienced enough to know that fists or magic are at their weakest when you are filled with emotions. So with a swift move, he blocked Tiberius’s attack and punched him on his heart after covering his fist with metal.
Tiberius flew away, crashing into a wall. He did not lose his consciousness but was not in any shape to fight anymore. The king had won the battle.
While the king was slowly walking toward Tiberius, the door slightly opened and a man showed himself. Charles was trying to enter the room.
“Charles! Where have you been all this—”
Charles suddenly collapsed, revealing the other side of his body. The king couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Charles' one arm ripped off and his leg broken. There were also a few injuries on his body, including a hole in his right side near his kidney.
“Who did this?” The king asked in anger.
The door suddenly opened fully, revealing the man behind the death of Charles.
“So this is the throne room?” Rael said, stepping inside, looking around.
The king attacked the man in front of him from a distance with fireballs. However, attacks appeared to be ineffective because Rael was unaffected by anything thrown at him.
The king then used Earth magic to pull a part from the ground and attempt to smash Rael with it. Rael, unlike before, blocked it, causing the large stone to break.
Only now did Rael notice Tiberius lying on the ground, spitting blood. He did not appear dead or unconscious, but he was injured enough to be unable to fight.
He immediately closed the gap with the king. Before Tharos could react, he grabbed his throat and lifted him.
"Has he answered your questions?" Rael asked Tiberius.
“No,” Tiberius answered, breathing heavily.
“Why and how did you bring him here?” Asked Rael, slowly squeezing his throat.
King tried not to make eye contact. He struggled but did not appear to obey anyone.
“I asked you a question!” Rael raised his voice.
The words "I don't know" left the king's mouth. He could hardly breathe, let alone speak. Rael, on the other hand, would squeeze his throat every time he resisted.
“What do you mean you don't know?”
"I just don't. You don't think a king will do dark magic by himself, right? He smirked.
“Who did it then?” Rael shook the king a bit.
“A group I made using the best mages in the country.”
“Where are they?”
“In a trash bag. Tiberius seemed to be an unsuccessful experiment, and since they could not find another solution, I beheaded them all.”
“How am I going to go back then?” Tiberius stood up.
“That is not my problem,” King replied.
“Then we have no use for you,” Rael said, squeezing King’s throat even harder.
“Stop it!” Tiberius demanded. “You said you won’t kill anyone.”
Rael let out a loud sigh, “Alright.” He dropped the king on the ground. Then turned toward Tiberius, “But only I made a deal with you.”
Suddenly, a few arrows with high speed went through the window and stabbed the king on his chest, leaving from the other side.
The king looked at his chest and then smirked, “At least I was not killed by my own blood.” He collapsed and died at that exact moment.
