Chapter 15:
The Last Hope of Fallen Kingdom ( Volume 1)
The child looked up, startled at first, but then sneered. "Because it's entertainment. Look how weak it is-it can't even fight back. Isn't that funny?" He lifted his foot again, preparing to stomp.
Ark caught the boy's wrist before he could move further. "That's not funny. That's cruelty."
The rabbit scrambled into Ark's arms, trembling, its tiny heart pounding against his chesty.Ark whispered comforting words while softly patting its fur. The boy looked at him and said, “So what? It's just a rabbit. Weak things are always stepped on. That's how the world works.”
Ark froze at those words. Weak things are always stepped on... His mind replayed the Supreme God's vision-the beast humans in chains, slaughtered because they were weaker, because no one stood for them.
The other children, sensing Ark's presence was too strong, began to scatter, leaving the boy saying under his breath. Ark didn't chase them. Instead, he crouched, letting the rabbit rest on the ground, watching it hop unsteadily toward the bushes.
He sat there silently for a moment, his hand pressed against the earth. "This... is nature," Ark whispered. "The strong prey on the weak. It's true. But if we accept that without question, then the weak will never stop suffering. Beast humans... animals... even children like this rabbit. Always victims.”
His eyes narrowed, determination slowly burning behind them. "No. I won't allow that. If nature says the weak must suffer, then I'll go against nature. If gods say it's impossible, I'll prove them wrong. I'll protect the weak. Human or beast human-it doesn't matter. I'll create a world where no one cries because of their birth."
Ark stood up, dusting himself off. His heart was beating faster, but not in fear. This time, it was resolved. For the first time since the vision, he felt clarity.
He looked toward the hill where Delta's house was hidden and smiled faintly. "Delta... I'll show you. The world doesn't have to stay this way. I'll change it. That's my decision."
With that, Ark walked forward, each step heavy with determination yet light with purpose.
Ark's footsteps pounded against the forest path, heart racing not from exhaustion but from conviction. His mind blazed with a single thought-I can't do this alone. If I want to save beast humans, I need allies. I need... a beginning.
He finally reached Delta's oak house. Without knocking, he pushed open the wooden door.
Inside, Delta lay on the floor lazily, a half-eaten basket of fruit beside her. She was nibbling on a bright red apple, her black wolf ears twitching slightly with each crunch. When she saw Ark burst in, panting, sweat dripping down his forehead, her golden eyes widened.
"Ark?" she said, sitting up quickly, her tail flicking with unease. "What happened? Did something go wrong in the village? You're breathing like you just happened big.”
Ark braced himself against the doorframe, catching his breath. His chest rose and fell rapidly, but his eyes were clear, burning with determination. "Delta... I've decided something important."
Delta's expression grew serious. She put down the apple, her ears perked high, ready for whatever he was about to say.
"I've seen enough," Ark continued, clenching his fist tightly. "Beast humans are hunted, hated, treated as if their lives are worthless. The gods may say it's fate, humans may call it justice, but I refuse to accept it. That future I saw the suffering, the chains-it won't happen. Not if I stand against it.”
Delta tilted her head, her tail slowing its swish. "So what will you do?”
Ark stepped forward, eyes locked on hers.
"We'll create an association. A group with one goal-to protect beast humans. To give them a place to belong. To fight back against cruelty. Not just hiding in the shadows, but standing tall."
For a moment, Delta simply blinked at him, shocked by the weight of his words. Then, slowly, her lips curved into a smile. But something warmer, deeper-filled with pride.
"You mean... you want me to stand with you in this?" she asked softly.
Ark nodded firmly. "Yes. I can't do this without you. You've suffered more than I can imagine. You know the pain, the fear, the loneliness. Together, we'll change it.”
Delta's eyes shining with hope, her claws curling slightly as if grasping invisible strength. Then she stood, her ears sharp and proud, and extended her hand toward him.
"Then from today," she declared, her voice ringing with conviction, "I am co-leader of this association. Together, we'll plant the seed of revolution. One day, that seed will grow into a tree so strong no one can tear it down."
Ark smiled, his chest swelling with relief and excitement. He took her hand, gripping it tightly. "Then it begins here. Just you and me-for now. But someday, the whole world will know.”
In that tiny oak house, with fruit baskets scattered on the floor and sunlight spilling through the cracks, two young souls made a promise.
The Association of Beast Human Salvation was born.
And with it, the first spark of revolution ignited.
