My name is Ryouma Kirishima, a high school student with no dreams or clear prospects for the future. I was a normal, unremarkable boy... or so I always thought. But overnight, my life changed completely.
In just a few days, so many things had happened. I found myself in another world without understanding how or why. I had been targeted by an evil organization, for an item whose value I had no idea about. I had been saved by my best friend, who turned out to be a vigilante fighting in the shadows. Then I discovered that I was not just an ordinary human, which deeply troubled me. As unpredictable events unfolded, I learned more about this other world and ended up joining the Legacy guild.
Officially, I work as a strategist at Legacy Tech. My family was delighted to learn that I had found a position in such a prestigious company. Of course, I never revealed to them what I actually do... no point worrying them for nothing.
When I think about it, everything happened so quickly. Every sensation was new. It was the first time I was so scared, the first time I felt so angry, the first time I was so shocked, the first time I fell in love and the first time I took someone's life. All these “first times” were a precious experience that shaped the “me” I am today.
After the Battle of Avalon, which ended years of conflict, life gradually returned to normal... if that's what you could call normal anymore.
Sometimes I wonder. If all this had never happened, I'd probably be sitting in a college classroom right now. But fate had decided otherwise.
"Hey, Ryo! We're here!"
"We've been waiting for you, Kirishima!"
Joy and Sia waved at me, surrounded by several companions.
With Avalon's defeat, the assault teams were reassigned. Joy had chosen to join the exploration team to accompany me on my travels. Kate, on the other hand, had taken a different path. She was now training to be a nurse, helping the sick and injured. She still remained a member of the guild.
The guild had set itself a clear goal: to prevent the end of the world. When would that happen? Tomorrow, in a thousand years, or maybe never? No one knew. And deep down, everyone hoped that day would never come.
Perhaps this would not happen in my lifetime. Perhaps my generation would not be the one to face this ultimate danger.
I probably won't be the hero who saves the world. But I wanted to contribute, do my bit, and leave a legacy for future generations. One day, perhaps, my child or one of my descendants would become this famous hero... I would still have to decide to do things seriously with Sia.
But everything in its time.
For now, I had to stay focused. This was my first exploration expedition with the whole team, and I was looking forward to meeting everyone. I even spent the night thinking of a thousand ways to make a good impression… to finally abandon all these failed plans and tell myself that the best thing would still be to go for it.
My heart was pounding. I was so excited to explore this world. At first, the unknown frightened me. Just imagining setting foot in that hell again made me tremble. But thanks to Sia, who taught me to see the wonders and beauty of this world despite its darkness, I had redefined my choices.
Before, I didn't have a dream. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. But today, if someone asked me what I hoped to become, my answer would be simple.
I want to be an adventurer.
Now I wanted to go on an adventure, discover unexplored places, face dangers and the unexpected. My enthusiasm was too great to be held back by fear. And above all, I was no longer alone. With Joy, Sia and the other team members by my side, I knew I could overcome any challenges.
Eldrath was a fantastic world, full of mysteries and dangers, where every day brought a new adventure, a new and even more incredible discovery.
And one thing was certain. This world had not finished surprising me.
