Chapter 36:
The Last Hope of Fallen Kingdom ( Volume 1)
The Valkart family’s screams echoed through the burning mansion like the last cries of a dying beast. The nobles who once laughed and danced had fled in chaos, their masks abandoned on the marble floors now stained with blood. The beast human girls showed no hesitation. For years they had endured humiliation, beatings, and chains, but tonight, the chains were broken. Tonight, the predators were free.
Sam Valkart, the proud head of the house, lay beaten on the floor. His noble clothes were torn, his face swollen, nose bleeding profusely. He coughed, reaching out with trembling hands.
“W-wait… I am a lord… I can give you wealth… women… land—”
His words were cut short as claws tore across his chest. Blood sprayed across the floor as the beast girls struck again and again, their anger unleashed.
Lisa Valkart screamed as two beast girls grabbed her arms and struck her face until she collapsed. She tried to speak, her words drowned in sobs, but their fury silenced her.
Leon Valkart, the once-arrogant young master, crawled backward across the broken floor tiles, his mask long fallen. Tears mixed with blood as he begged, his voice cracking.
“Please! Please don’t kill me! I didn’t do anything! Father made me do it! Mother—mother told me to!”
The girls’ eyes burned with hatred. Their claws rose.
But then a shadow entered the hall.
Ark walked slowly, carrying a pouch in one hand, his black coat fluttering with every step. His mask gleamed, hiding his expression. He had just returned from the vault, where he stripped the Valkart family of their treasure. The vault was empty now—gold, silver, jewels, and enchanted artifacts all stored away in Ark’s possession. Wealth enough to rebuild lives, to start new kingdoms.
He stopped in the hallway, watching the scene before him. Sam Valkart twitched on the ground, Lisa sobbed in a pool of her own blood, Leon clutched his broken ribs, crawling helplessly.
The beast girls turned as Ark entered. For a moment, they hesitated.
Ark’s voice was calm, steady. “Continue. They deserve nothing less.”
With one last scream, Sam was finished—his throat torn open, blood soaking the marble. Lisa’s cries ended as claws pierced her chest. The heads of the Valkart family toppled onto the ground, their lives extinguished.
Only Leon remained, shaking like a child. He stared at Ark with wide, desperate eyes.
“P-please! Don’t kill me! I swear, I’ll disappear! I’ll never come back here again!”
Ark knelt slightly, his mask inches from Leon’s bloodied face. Then, with slow hands, he removed the mask.
Leon’s eyes widened in shock. His voice cracked.
“Y-you… it’s you! No… this can’t—”
Ark’s gaze was cold, his words sharp as blades. “Go. Run for your life.”
Leon blinked, stunned. His heart pounded with relief and confusion. He staggered to his feet, clutching his side, and stumbled toward the exit. He didn’t look back.
The night air hit his face as he burst out of the burning mansion. Flames rose high into the sky, turning the estate into a vision of hell. His home, his pride, everything—consumed.
Leon clenched his fists as he ran, his mind filled with hatred.
“Beast humans… Ark… you filthy bastard,” he spat through gritted teeth. “I’ll take my revenge. I’ll torture you until you beg for death. I swear it on my life!”
He vanished into the forest, the fire behind him lighting his path.
Back inside, Ark turned to the rabbit-eared girl standing near the doorway. She looked at him nervously, her hands still trembling from the battle.
“Come here,” Ark said, his tone softer now.
She approached, bowing her head. “Y-yes…?”
Ark handed her a longbow taken from the vault. Its silver frame glowed faintly, runes etched along its curve.
“Take this. Aim at the sky.”
She blinked, confused, but obeyed. Ark placed a hand gently on her shoulder. His mana flowed into her, igniting her veins with warmth. Her body shivered as a surge of power filled her—magic she had never been able to use before.
Her eyes widened. “I… I can feel it…!”
“Good,” Ark said. He guided her hand as she drew the bowstring. A glowing arrow of pure mana formed, shimmering with deadly precision.
Leon was far, deep into the forest. But Ark’s magic connected the girl’s arrow with his location.
“Now,” Ark whispered.
The girl released. The arrow shot into the sky like a streak of light, then curved as if guided by fate itself.
Far in the forest, Leon stopped, panting heavily. For a moment, he thought he had escaped. But then, a sharp whistle split the air. His eyes widened, his scream caught in his throat.
The arrow pierced his chest, the force lifting him off the ground before pinning him against a tree. Blood spilled from his mouth as his life faded into silence.
His revenge ended before it began.
Back in the hall, the rabbit girl stared at her hands in disbelief. “I… I did it…”
Ark nodded. “You’re capable of using magic now. Remember that.”
Tears filled her eyes, not of sorrow, but of joy.
Ark stood again, pulling his mask back onto his face. “Go,” he said to the beast girls. “Head to the forest behind the mansion. I’ll join you soon.”
They nodded, though some hesitated. But his voice carried weight that left no room for doubt. One by one, they fled through the broken windows, vanishing into the trees.
Ark turned and walked calmly through the mansion’s grand entrance. Outside, dozens of workers, chefs, and butlers had gathered. They stared at him in terror, their faces pale.
Whispers spread quickly.
“It’s him… the masked killer…”
“He slaughtered the Valkarts…”
“We’re going to die…”
They trembled, waiting for death. But Ark only reached into his coat and pulled out several pouches. He tossed them onto the ground, the heavy clink of coins echoing.
The workers blinked, confused, as they picked them up.
Each pouch was filled with twenty gold coins. Enough to erase debts, feed families, buy freedom.
Ark’s voice was calm but firm. “The Valkarts are gone. You are free. Take this, and live your lives however you choose.”
For a long moment, no one spoke. Then, slowly, relief spread. A woman sobbed, clutching the pouch to her chest. A man laughed, tears streaming down his face.
“We’re… we’re saved…”
“Our children won’t starve…”
“Thank you… thank you!”
Ark gave a final glance, then stepped into the air. His body rose silently, vanishing into the night sky.
The workers watched in awe. The figure who brought both death and salvation disappeared like a phantom, leaving behind gold and freedom.
Meanwhile, the twelve beast human girls ran through the forest. Their hearts pounded—not from fear of pursuit, but from the shock of freedom. Yet still, they couldn’t shake a nervous feeling.
A rustling in the bushes made them freeze. Claws extended, ears perked, tails bristled.
From the shadows stepped a woman in dark clothing, her silver hair glinting under the moonlight.
Delta.
She smirked. “Finally, I found you, ladies.”
The beast girls stiffened, unsure whether she was friend or foe.
“Who… who are you?” one asked cautiously.
Before Delta could answer, a shadow landed beside her. Ark descended gracefully, his coat fluttering as he touched the ground.
“Delta,” he said, his voice low but carrying relief.
Delta’s lips curved into a rare smile. “Finally, Ark. It’s been three weeks. Do you know how much I missed you?”
Ark lowered his mask slightly, his eyes softening. “I missed you too, Delta. But first—take them to shelter. Make sure they’re safe.”
Delta nodded, her expression sharp again. “Understood, leader. Girls, follow me.”
Though confused, the beast humans obeyed. Something in Ark’s voice, something in Delta’s presence, told them they could trust. They followed Delta deeper into the forest, their chains gone, their futures uncertain—but free.
Ark remained behind for a moment. He rose into the sky, his eyes fixed on the burning mansion below. The flames devoured everything, reducing the Valkart legacy to ashes.
Three weeks of planning, of infiltration, of patience—now complete.
Ark whispered to himself, his voice carrying into the night.
“It’s finally over.”
