Chapter 34:

The Twilight Feast

The Demon Lord Shouldn’t Be At This Much Of A Disadvantage!!: What do you mean the descendants of the Heroes are overpowered due to nepotism?

“Whoa! At our stats!” Laimessa said, feeling a rush of power flow through her just before Geist left.

“That’s got to be cheating!”

Looking at her own stats, Lilith was equally dumbfounded.

“Empower, Quicken, Reinforce, Acuity, Enlighten, as well as several other Legendary-ranked spells, all at once? I would have struggled to cast so many with my Divine Artifacts.”

While they were distracted by the buffs they received, neither noticed that they had been surrounded by dozens of knights and holy warriors until they each were struck from behind. These blows brought their attention back to the banquet hall, at the conscious guests were trying to escape, pounding their fists on an invisible force that kept them from leaving. Even the hole in the wall Iskacles had been sent flying through was blocked, preventing the royal family, along with a couple of knights carrying Laimion and his youngest older sister, from getting away to safety.

Laimessa [Advanced] | Race: Monster | Sub Race: Vampire | Level: 10
Hit Points: 202/202 | Mana: 44/44 | Stamina: 30/30

Lilith [Advanced] | Race: Greater Demon | Sub Race: Succubus | Level: 10
Hit Points: 100/100 | Mana: 162/162 | Stamina: 49/49

Neither took any damage from the unexpected attacks.

“Geisty’s handiwork, too?” Liamessa asked, pointing to the nobles panicking and pleading to be let out.

“A helping hand. How considerate of him.” Lilith mused, slipping through the encirclement of assailants and flying over to the king and queen. “And where are you off to, Your Majesties and Highnesses?” She asked, as Laimessa caught up to her, knocking the knights escorting the royal family away with ease.

“St-Stay away from us, you Corrupted traitors!” Kathritrina demanded, pulling her other children behind her, glaring at the vampire in particular as she caught Liamion and the unconscious princess, setting them down gently. “Stay away from my fam–!?” She was cut off as a clawed, lavender hand closed around her throat.

“Unhand her this instant!” The king demanded, drawing his blade to strike at the succubus, only to be easily restrained from behind by Laimessa, who licked her lips.

“You know, I’m not much for meals that use extravagant ingredients… but I think I’ll make an exception this time,” Laimessa said as she sank her teeth into the king's neck and activated the new, unique ability she got from becoming a monster.

“F-Father!” The prince and princesses cried out, but were too afraid to attempt to rescue him.

“Wh-What do you think you are doing?! Even if only verbal, your superior entered into an agreement with the king!” A voice criticized then from behind, though Laimessa was too busy to acknowledge it. Lilith turned to see Oscar Sr. standing with unsteady legs but an infuriated expression, pointing accusingly at them. “Have the Corrupted no honor or dignity? We handed over the Divine Artifacts–”

“And Geist honored his side of the agreement, did he not, Minister?” Lilith asked with a disappointed sigh, ignoring the woman clawing at her arm. “He left and didn’t raise a hand against any of you, yes?”

“Then what are you both doing?” The lifetime merchant-minded, plump man asked.

“We are our own Corrupted, Minister Oscar Sr.,” She said, with a predatory, delighted smile on her face. “And the Council betrayed us first, did you not? Our revenge has nothing to do with our… Lord? King? Leader?” She tested the words, but none felt entirely right to describe who Geist had become to them. “Master?” That one, however, was a smooth as silk. “Yes, our Master did not order us to do anything to any of you.” She continued, pulling the queen’s face close and licking her cheek before playfully sealing the woman’s mouth with her own, activating her unique skill to drain her maximum Mana capacity and convert it into Experience. “We do this of our our free will. And besides. This is a banquet, is it not?” She snickered sadistically as she resumed dining on Kathritrina’s Mana.

“Mmm~! His Kingliness’ Hit Points were pretty good, but I want someone with more flavor next.” Laimessa said, her skill unable to drain any more from the older, muscular man, and let him collapse to the floor. Licking the blood from her lips, she finally registered Oscar Sr.’s presence. “Fatty foods always did taste the best, even though they’re bad for you.” She said, approaching her next meal.

“I swear, you are such a glutton, Essa.” Lilith teased, giving Kathritina a moment to catch her breath, though whether having her Mana drained was euphoric or traumatic, she had ceased resisting.

Grabbing the older, plumper man before he could run, the hungry vampire just smirked back, motioning to the rest of the room. “Then it’s a good thing there’s plenty for me to eat.”

Draining the rest of Kathritrina’s Mana, Lilith licked her lips and agreed, tossing the barely conscious woman to her children, disregarding their concerned cries. “Well, when the spread is this delicious, I suppose it would be alright to indulge… Just a bit.” With a wink, she left the prince and princesses, for now, in search of a more tantalizing meal. “Now, who will I find first. Her Holiness, or that aggravatingly handsome Court Magician.”

Thanks to the spells Geist cast before leaving, nobody trapped in the banquet hall could resist as the two vengeful, Corrupted women enjoyed their feast of Hit Points and Mana. Partway through, when they both set eyes on a magic swordsman, they squabbled over who would get her, only for them to realize they could share. While warriors might have less Mana and spellcasters less Hit Points, it was better than nothing. Though they only targeted Council members, and those who could, or did, influence the Council to work against them in the past, like Princess Cynthia. She was one of the few they preyed on simultaneously, as both punishment and reward for being the cause of their circumstances.

“Man, what a meal,” Laimessa said as they finished feeding on the last of the targets of their revenge, two-thirds of the nearly two hundred present. “I even Leveled Up! Twice, almost.”

Laimessa [Superior] | Race: Monster | Sub Race: Vampire | Level: 11
Hit Points: 237/237 | Mana: 50/50 | Stamina: 34/34
Strength: 27| Durability: 25
Deterity: 45| Evasion: 7
Endurance: 18| Barrier: 21
Vitality: 16| Force: 60
Intelligence: 13| Precision: 85
Wisdom: 25| Arcane: 25
Charisma: 12| Faith: 37

Over the course of their feast, they had sorted the attendees on either side of the banquet. Servants, a few knights, and mostly nobles too young to be deeply involved with politics like Liamion and the youngest princess to the right, and the metaphorically shrivelled up leftovers of their binge eating, left with only 1 Hit Point and 1 Mana, permanently.

Even if their minds and strength recovered, they would never regain what the two had drained from them.

Wiping her lips with her thumb, Inessa giggled. “Me too. Though my stats don’t look as impressive without the boosts from Geist.”

Lilith [Superior] | Race: Greater Demon | Sub Race: Succubus | Level: 11
Hit Points: 132/132 | Mana: 195/195 | Stamina: 23/23
Strength: 13| Durability: 21
Deterity: 14| Evasion: 16
Endurance: 19| Barrier: 46
Vitality: 12| Force: 25
Intelligence: 39| Precision: 26
Wisdom: 42| Arcane: 88
Charisma: 49| Faith: 91

By the time the Demon Monarch’s magic wore off, something both women realized needed to happen, as they were also trapped in the banquet hall with the others, there was nobody left who could resist them. But now that they had finally passed Level 10, they stood in a league above everyone else in the world, excluding Geist.

“No use leaving our leftovers around. Let’s make sure to clean up, okay?” Lilith said, smirking as she got ready to cast her first Superior-rank spell. “The mighty fall and the meek be no longer weak. Mini (Superior).” Able to affect all of their victims in a single casting, she, like she had done so often to Geist, shrank them all smaller than her thumb and unhesitatingly raised one of her bare feet, ready to crush them under her soles.

“Wait, Lia,” Laimessa said quickly, bending down to pick one of them up. “How close are you to leveling up?”

Looking at the Experience value her display showed, the lavender-skinned demon raised an eyebrow. “5576 out of 11000.”

“Right? Well, I’m at 8986. I know you like stomping people under your pretty toes, but we shouldn’t waste Experience.” She insisted, licking her lips.

Rolling her eyes, Lilith knew exactly what Laimessa was implying. While the oddly worded traits they gained were called different things, they still functioned the same.

Hungry - Demons get strong by eatin' people, right? Well, they do now ya twit! (Gain bonus Experience equal to 1/100th of the total Experience of a non-Corrupted you consume.)

For the average Pure, that would be about 150 Experience per person, and they had well over a hundred just sitting there.

“Essa, I know you’ll eat just about anything, but isn’t that a bit…” Somehow, for her, eating their victims crossed a line that draining, shrinking, and crushing them didn’t.

Scanning the miniaturized crowd, the gluttonous vampire smirked devilishly as she plucked out three specific individuals. “Come on. Just until you level up? I’ll even let you have the queen, Cynthia, and your old boss~” She said, dangling the three women in front of the succubus.

Looking at them, each in a fugue state from being doubly drained, the sadistic in Lilith considered it. She wasn’t going to convince her friend not to, so they were going to become someone’s Experience regardless. “I want the cute ones too.”
