Chapter 27:

The Trap Springs ( 2 )

The Emotionless

Once the trial day concluded and everyone left the courthouse, that single journalist who had been present there began doing his job.

He published on his newspaper's front page with the headline: "ROYAL PALACE CONTINUES THE CORRUPTION STRIKE!"

Then underneath he wrote:

"Yet another corruption case from the most majestic city of the kingdom, another entity accused of fraud worth over 300 million!!! YES! YES! You read that right: this time we're talking about more than 300 million DRAVS! Day after day, the royal palace and its entities are robbing us, they're sucking our blood, and we innocent citizens still have high hopes for them, but when will this regime of oppression end?"

The article continued, telling the general's name and about his life.

In the royal kingdom, it wasn't a shocking case, since corruption within had been discussed for a long time and people talked about it a lot, but without achieving any real success.

The people, even though they knew General Wilhelm well and understood his character, didn't limit themselves from spreading gossip.

Some said: "Nowadays everyone is corrupt, no one is safe anymore."

Others: "In all of this, we have to be trampled on even though we're in the royal kingdom, full of nobles and immense wealth, yet we still have this corruption and it's unacceptable."

So many began voicing their opinions without investigating anything. Only a small part of the people supported the general, since they knew him personally and understood what he was like by nature.

The news slowly began spreading to almost all parts, eventually reaching Rania.

"Hey, did you guys also hear that General Wilhelm has been accused of fraud worth over 300 million DRAVS?" asked Duraan.

"Yes, it's spontaneous news and also a bit bizarre," said Hukuro, somewhat confused.

"It's obvious, that person already seemed suspicious to me from before, ever since he said that Hiroshi died suddenly."

"Rania, we can't do anything against the authority, even if we wanted to do something. And besides, don't you see that the general allowed you to stay here and even assigned you a teacher who can help you with your ability?" said Hukuro, trying to calm her down.

"It's not like I asked him for it."

The news managed to reach very interesting people.

The door opened and a man entered holding some papers in his hands.

The atmosphere was gloomy, mysterious, almost imposing. The man walked along the corridor and then opened another door.

In front of him was a throne, and on the throne sat a person.

"Your Majesty, here is the newspaper you requested. It was published by a small printing house titled 'Your Little Man'."

The person called Majesty began reading it and then said: "Good, I see that Wilhelm is trapped in big trouble," smiling.

But his servant noticed something.

"Your Majesty, this all seems fake to me, like a staged scene. We don't know anything about this Alistair Vassair, other than that he's a businessman who manages many hotels in Zyndra. Even this seems constructed, since we haven't been able to see these hotels of his in Zyndra, except for one tavern managed by an old lizardman."

The majesty was impressed by his servant's observation.

"Hmm, I don't know anything about this Vassair, but I know very well that Wilhelm doesn't have enough brains to do all this. He has never even killed a fly without the royal palace's permission, and you think he would make some plan? So let's wait a bit and see what happens. Even if we assume he has something in mind, do you think he can do anything against us?"

The servant smiled and said: "Obviously not, my majesty, but what about the day of his execution?"

"Let me see this case first, then we'll kill him. Maybe he'll be executed by the royal palace itself because of this case. So whatever happens, for us it's win-win."

"Very well, my majesty."
