Chapter 14 – Shadows in the City

Returning to the commoner city at night, Kairo found it crawling with thieves and weak monsters. Mira clung to his side, while Haru tried to stay close but panicked at every shadow.

A group of petty thieves tried to mug them. Kairo fought, absorbing their energy, while Mira hurled small spells and Haru threw rocks.

Kairo grinned through blood and sweat. “N***as thought I was weak? Watch me grow.”

The night reminded him: every human, every monster could be a tool—or a threat.
