The Weight of Weakness

That night, Mira and Haru confronted him.

“You can’t keep doing this,” Mira said. “You act like pain makes you untouchable, but it’s tearing you apart.”

Ash laughed without humor. “Tearing me apart? That’s the point.”

Haru’s voice cracked. “We followed you because we thought you were strong. But strength isn’t just killing. It’s protecting!”

Ash turned away. His scars burned. His blood screamed for more.

“You two don’t get it. You’re better off without me. I’m just the monster they say I am.”

Silence fell. For the first time, Ash walked away from them. Alone.
