Chapter 23: To the End

The Valued one took a deep breath in, the simple movement of his hand was enough for Alice to flinch. Multiple lasers of light slammed into him as Arthur transformed, his face filled with anger. His first punch connected, unfortunately, it was in the palm of the Valued one's hand. He remained unscathed from all the lasers that hit him. Alice threw her hand up and called upon the star. He threw Arthur away as she too rushed in, her blade slammed into the Valued one's body, but it was like hitting a steel wall with a stick. All he did was exude his power, but it carried with it enough force that it pushed Alice back to where Cleo was, " I can stack the buff to 50 for two people, but after that, I'm done." Cleo explained as she held her staff out in front of her. She applied buffs to both Alice and Arthur, they both went at it. Alice wielded both her starblade and normal, allowing her to pull off two ruptures at the same time, two times the ineffectiveness. Arthur was faster than her by a little bit, spears of light materialize high in the sky as Arthur contests the Valued One on the ground. The Valued one was able to keep up with Arthur's attacks while dodging the spears from above, Selias' arrows, and Alice's attacks. But he also seemed to be hitting harder against Arthur, his attacks were more defined as opposed to just dodging and pushing like he did with Alice. The Valued one slammed his fist into Alice's blade, throwing her back, allowing for a series of punches to break Arthur's stance before his transformed state was also broken when the Valued one hit him hard in the gut, knocking him down.

Behind her, she could feel Lucy's magic, but it was Selia. She shot her swarm arrow at the Valued one, as he was swatting them away, she managed to pierce his left inner forearm while it was mid swing (for him, with would be his right) with a chain arrow, and thanks to Lucy's magic, the chains were able to hold. He tried pulling his arm away, but the chains held. “How odd, I can feel the power of Morningstar, yet you are not him.” He said, looking from the chain to Selia. His voice was surprisingly normal. But there was no time to dwell on that. Alice threw her hand upward again, and this time she reached out. She needed more power. More stars. The sky illuminated as six stars descended around Alice before landing in her palm, the sheer weight of this many forced her to use her free hand to hold her other arm up, the ground beneath her breaking. Cracks burst from the hand holding the stars. She clutched her hand and dropped it, aiming it at the Valued one.

" Star blessed: Second form, Starburst!" Alice yelled as she opened her hand and released the power of four stars, which was too much for her current state. The trajectory was off, it was too high, but it blew off the arm that was being chained. The burst travelled far, blowing off the entire top half of a mountain sitting far away. Using the remaining stars, Alice would use them to form a stronger starblade. Despite the pain in her arm, she pushed. Alice had one final trick, allocate 100 skill points into strength and speed. 200 skill points, finally being put to use. She swung at the Valued one, her attacks were much faster than before, but it was still not enough. Her starblade was leaving small scratches, she needed more. But this was all she had. The Valued one seemed to have had enough, striking her hand, he shattered her arm, breaking her grip on her sword as she dropped it. He went to grab it, but this worked in her favour. She raised her starblade to end the fight and-

The blade pierced her heart, blood dripping from her mouth when the blade was pulled. The starblade, which was still held high, disappeared first before she fell on her back. Her back was cold and wet, the world around her began to quiet, and her sight would start to fail her shortly after. Then, she would fail herself, too.
