Chapter 1:
The Hundred Fate Sash
My parents, they often said there was a tale long in the making and even longer in the ending of it.
A tale that only would be told in parts and in parts that were easily digestible for someone,at my tender ages I understood that,of course.
Now,I am an adult and wish to know more of this epic tale that I have been craving to know more of.
Perhaps even write a book or blog entry on it at my journalism job.
I ponder hardly on this.
It was the last thing I asked them before they passed.
Side by side.Moments after the other.
Almost supernatural it appeared.
Now,I stare at there photographs,my eyes never leaving theirs.
The playful side eye my father aims at my mother who feigns to perfection that she abhors the sight.I was told by my associates that such a photo was distasteful but it was them as they truly were.
Natural,happy,in love.
I have not known that feeling but seen it in passing, mostly secondhand watching them and I never knew anything less than joy such things were not only in fairy tales or old stories.
I step from there photo and look out over a starless, dark like obsidian sky and soon catch a sight of a tall, lean figure.
He nears in moments, climbing with grace the many stairs up here and has a almost regal bearing wearing a swordsman cloth,"Goryeo period?"and has his shoulder swathed with a sash of 100 colors that he tosses at me.
A smile such as he is rare to come by and it leaves me dumb,I take a moment to view this tattered, multi colored sash finding it more than a little strange.
When I look up again the swordsman is near to my face and I see his eyes, intense and playful locked onto mine and he laughs heartily into my face.
''Just as deep as your mother but playful as your father.Tell them when they wake that the debt is paid, throw this on the coffin."
He turns away hard and fast, walking in time with the vicious streaks of lightening striking fast and near like he is dancing with it somehow.
"How do you know my parents,How do you even know me?!?"I yell out over the lightening striking louder and nearer,he turns back and a strike illuminates his form brilliantly."Ah little Koo So-A,I have known you since your birth and near death. That is also why you find me so familiar."
He waves away then and becomes a shadow in the deep darkness,he is no longer in sight just that fast even with the furious lightening following the stairway down.
My eyes view this tattered thing and before my journalistic side kicks in i see it.
All of it.
One after another.
The story of how I,Koo So-A was saved.
