Chapter 42:
Final Login: I Transmigrated to Save the Girl I Met in a Game
I launched an Ether Sword strike fused with Glitcher straight at GOD 404. He did not budge.
“My attack did nothing?”
I checked my active buffs and titles. Even the extra title [Gamers], which should let me stand against nightmare-level foes, was active but useless.
GOD 404 closed his hand around my blade. I felt my power being drained away, slow and cold.
“ARRRGGHHH!!!”
“Attacking me was foolish. I control this world. You are nothing. Even the strength you stole can be pulled back. [LEVEL RESET TO 1]”
He stabbed me in the chest with his hand, creating a large hole in my chest. I coughed up blood, and my HP started to drain.
But he let me live, he still wanted to do something. He formed a skill with his hand and clamped it to my head. My level plummeted all the way down to zero.
All the power I had amassed vanished in an instant.
“No… I… I must defeat you…”
“You are pathetic, Yoka. Even given a second chance you fail.” He looked at me with contempt.
“What do you mean? I do not understand.”
“So you still do not remember. Consider this a small gift from me. Remember who you are, who I am, and how this world runs.” GOD 404 poured a halo of darkness into my mind. My skull throbbed as if it would split.
Fragments of memory began to cross my thoughts.
“What… what are these memories?”
A vision surfaced: a bored young man with dark blue hair playing with a game he made. He was Yoka, the God of Games. He created realities where fantasy worlds sprang to life and living beings were born from code.
I watched him build a prototype game, his joy bright and childlike. Then the scene darkened. An unknown god invaded Yoka’s realm and challenged him. Yoka fought desperately to protect his created worlds, but in his focus he was defeated.
I realized that the invading god was GOD 404. He declared Yoka weakened, not the god he once was.
“You cheat,” Yoka cried. “You took power that is not yours.”
“Power is mine now,” GOD 404 said. “You were too busy playing. Now die.” He eradicated Yoka and seized control of the worlds Yoka had crafted.
GOD 404 then took Yoka’s prototype game, Abyss Code Online, and set the wheels of cosmic ruin in motion.
My memory continued into Yoka’s last conscious thought after his annihilation. He could not accept defeat. He hated losing.
In desperation he reincarnated himself randomly. By chance his soul was reborn as me, Mikazuki Kyouya, on Earth.
…
“You want to destroy the universe?!” I spat at GOD 404.
“That is correct. I have erased hundreds of universes. I have corrupted Yoka’s creations and folded their servants into Abyss Code Online. I control them all. I am invincible in this cosmos.”
“But… you… you are Yoka’s reincarnation. You are an anomaly that wrecks my plan. Now I will kill you and crush everything you love.”
Hearing that I thought of Ayane and of my comrades still fighting on Floor 10.
I cannot lose here. I must win. Yoka, if you remain inside me, please give me your strength.
A blue notification pulsed in front of me.
[GOD YOKA HEARS YOUR PRAYER!]
[THE POWER OF HOPE ACTIVATED!]
[THE HOPES OF EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD WILL GRANT YOU UNBEATABLE MIGHT!]
Screens appeared in the black chamber showing the battlefield on Floor 10 and scenes across Earth. People had not given up. Their eyes still held embers of will.
Ayane shouted my name at the top of her lungs, “DO NOT GIVE UP, KYOUYA!!!!!”
Players and NPCs across Abyss Code Online joined in. Voices from Earth rose too.
Their hope streamed into me like clustered orbs of data. Power flooded my body until I reached an astonishing new height.
[HOPE POWER MAXED!]
[YOUR LEVEL SURGES BEYOND LIMITS!]
[ULTRA LIMIT BREAKER ACTIVE! YOUR LEVEL INCREASES!]
[LEVEL 10…20…30…40…50…60…70…80…90…]
[LEVEL 101!!!]
“This is impossible!!!” GOD 404 panicked.
“Even Yoka never reached this level. How can a human become this strong?” he cried.
“Hope. That is what Yoka lacked when he fell. He had no one’s hope to draw on. But I'm different, I have it now!”
Light poured from me. My hair turned white and lengthened. A cyber halo formed above my head and a blue mantle emblazoned with Yoka’s sigil cloaked my shoulders.
I wrested control of the chamber’s data and reclaimed the space from GOD 404. Darkness bleached into white.
I drew my sword: GAMER'S SWORD.
I steadied myself, prepared to strike down GOD 404
He fought me with the full force of his despair, forging a blade of pure darkness, his aura turning the entire space pitch black.
Without another word, we clashed..blow for blow, strike for strike.
“This is the end… [GOD OF GAMES SKILL: SHUTDOWN SLASH]!”
My blade cut through, striking true.
BAM!!!
A massive explosion tore through the void, GOD 404’s body unraveling into fragments of corrupted data.
I had won.
“Haha… I’ve lost… enjoy your victory, human. But your joy will not last forever…”
With that cryptic warning, his form disintegrated entirely. I didn’t understand his last words, but one truth was clear..this battle was ours.
The darkness swallowing Earth dissolved into nothingness.
I willed myself back to Floor 10, where Ayane and my comrades awaited. My divine form would not last long, but for now, I had the power to do anything.
The ruby floor shimmered beneath my feet, the air still heavy with the echoes of war.
I could feel it, this divine form of mine was unraveling, a fleeting miracle. But for now… for this moment… I could do anything.
The instant I arrived, Ayane broke into a run, her voice trembling as she called my name. She crashed into my arms with a force that nearly shattered me, as if trying to anchor me to this world. Zack, Mikan, and the surviving raiders followed, their faces streaked with blood and tears, yet lit with relief.
They had done it. They had survived.
They had defeated E.N.D.
I pulled Ayane close, tighter than ever before, as if by sheer will I could stop the inevitable. At last, I spoke the words that had burned in my chest through every battle, every loss, every breath.
“Ayane… I love you.”
Her eyes glimmered like shattered stars, her lips trembling as she whispered back, “I love you too, Kyouya.”
Our lips met, brief, desperate, yet eternal. All around us, the surviving players cheered. Their cries of triumph echoed through the endless void, the sound of a world clawing its way back to life.
But our victory… was already slipping away.
I felt it. My fingers, my arms, my entire body began to dissolve into fragments of light, data scattering like dying fireflies.
“No… why is this happening?!” Ayane’s voice broke as she clutched at me, her hands passing through my fading form. “Kyouya! Stay with me!”
I could barely raise my hand to her cheek, brushing away her tears with the last of my strength. My smile trembled through the haze.
“Forgive me…”
Once again, I was leaving her behind.
A cold notification appeared before us all:
[CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE CLEARED ABYSS CODE ONLINE!]
[7,432 PLAYERS REMAIN. THEY WILL NOW BE RETURNED TO EARTH.]
Light swallowed the survivors as they were carried home. NPCs blinked out of existence, Lorelei, Zack, and Izanami Ayaka returning to the rebuilt city of Netherbyte.
Another notification appeared before only me:
[YOU HAVE REACHED THE TRUE ENDING]
[WHAT IS YOUR DESIRE?]
My wish came without hesitation.
Let Earth return to normal. Let every victim of Abyss Code Online live again.
[REQUEST GRANTED. MIRACLE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED.]
Visions erupted before my eyes...Lena, Richard, Mia, and countless others opening their eyes once more, alive, whole, embracing the families they had lost.
And then… I saw Ayane. She woke in her room, trembling, tears spilling down her cheeks as she called my name, searching desperately for me. She realized. I was gone.
A single, final request burned on my lips.
Erase me from their memories. Erase Mikazuki Kyouya from existence.
[GOD YOKA ACCEPTS YOUR REQUEST. ARE YOU CERTAIN?]
I pressed Yes.
And so I vanished, not just from Earth, but from every thought, every heart, every memory.
Even Ayane forgot me.
She opened her eyes in silence, confusion clouding her gaze. The boy she had once loved, the boy who had fought for her, was gone from her mind.
I lingered for a heartbeat longer, watching her. She deserved a life free of chains, free of pain, free of me.
I would always love her.
But fate had chosen otherwise.
Loving her from the void, watching her grow, watching her smile, would be enough.
I love you, Ayane.
…
..
When my senses returned, I was standing in a vast, endless white room.
A young man with dark blue hair sat slouched on a couch, furiously mashing the buttons of a game controller. Across his sweater, four letters glowed faintly: Y.O.K.A.
“Tch… Damn trash game..But I have to admit, this is the best ending.” he muttered, throwing the controller aside. Then he turned to me with a crooked smile. “Well, well, Kyouya. You finally made it.”
“So you’re Yoka, huh?” I said, my voice flat. “Even though you're the God of Games, but you lost the game. Pathetic..”
“Hahaha, you’re not wrong.” He leaned back, eyes gleaming. “But I’ve found a new game. Want to try it? This time it’s co-op. We’ll have fun together!!”
He held up the case: a strange, shimmering cartridge, its title unreadable but burning with power, an endless multiverse battle royale unlike anything I had ever seen.
I chuckled. “Alright… I’ll take your offer.”
“I knew you would,” Yoka grinned.
“That’s right…” I tightened my grip.
“This is my Final Login!”
