Chapter 32:

Chapter 32: The God of Death

Blood Ties

It was strange. Iskatl slept for so long, having many dreams... or visions?

Velika was within the realm of the dead, sitting on her master's lap. Valerica's skin was sunken and taut against her bones. By all means she was a walking corpse. Eyes of crimson, with pale white hair. In some strange sense one could assume they were related due to the similarities. Velika smiled as she kicked her feet back and forth. Whenever they conversed, this was typically how; with Velika sitting on the Goddesses lap, like a puppy loving on it's owner after they had returned from a long day at work.

"Master? Are you proud of me? I've brought about so much death, and destruction all for you. And just for you, I'm about to massacre all of humanity. Are you happy with my work?"

"Of course, my sweet, sweet Velika..."

Her hand would stroke the dragon's hair as she smiled. This was not a good thing. Valerica's actions here were little more than proof of ownership; she didn't actually care for me.

I write this story. All of it is according to my plans, my thoughts, and my desires. Everything that's happened to this day is just all part of a side character's story within my book.

"I love you... Master."

I spoke softly, as the woman before me found a blade embedded within her neck. That sickeningly sweet smile was the last thing she saw, as her body twitched, and groaned.

"Foolish lizard... What do you think will happen here?.. I am Death. Death cannot hold me."

"No, that's true Valerica. But I can. Darkness can hold you. Your power? It belongs to me now."

Valerica felt herself melt away as I stole everything that she was, is, and will be. I became Death, and Death became part of me. As if on cue, the police were here. Well, the Justice Goddess Vanery.

"Larkan Velika, Grave Dragon. For your crimes of deic--"

Before she could finish, she too died before me. It was so silly that she expected to do something to me, after I had just stolen from Valerica.

As Valerica died, I felt it within my soul - the balance of life faded before being reinforced stronger than ever.

No more would she abuse me, and manipulate the fates of others by hand. No more would she demand death en masse. This was the true end of the war. Though, I had appearances to keep up. Don't you too, Yuichiro? Come. We'll have our final battle, and afterward the war will end. I promise.
