Chapter 3:

Introductions part 2

Starlight: The Song of Home

Now done with the two people training in the training area, Athan directed Mina over to the side of the room with the books, and in particular over to the old woman and the young boy.

“Alright, now allow me to introduce you to our oldest and youngest members, Old Lady Sofos, and little Panos. Old Sofos, Panos, allow me to introduce to you the one that Uraina brought to us to allow us to save our kingdom, Mina.” Athan said.

Looking them over, Mina couldn’t help but like their outfits. The elderly woman, Old Lady Sofos had short hair that was a blue so pale it looked like silver, and her outfit was entirely difrent shades of purple. A full bright purple shirt, wide baggy purple pants that could be mistaken for a dress from the right angle, and a long dark purple cape that piled on the floor while she was sitting.

Meanwhile the young boy Panos had bright blond bushy hair, and he had a purple cape that looked about the length of his torso. For pants he wore some nice blue shorts, and for a shirt he actually had a translucent bright purple full sleve shirt over an opaque darker purple t-shirt.

“Oh wow, I didn’t expect our savior to be a kid. You look the same age as Nik.” The young kid, Panos, said. “Hey, does everyone from your world have weird brown skin? or do you have it because your special?”

“Um…” Mina awkwardly started, no idea what to say to that, so thankfully Old Lady Sofos spoke up before she had to say anything.

“Now now, calm down Panos. Don’t be rude.” She said, putting a hand on the boy’s shoulder. “You don’t know if her skin is something she’s comfortable talking about. It’s better not to ask questions like that when you first meet someone, at least not till you’re more familiar with them.”

“Oh, sorry Miss Sofos.” Panos said, and the old lady shot him a raised eyebrow.

“I’m not the one you need to apologize to.” Sofos told him.

“Oh, yeah, uh, sorry Mina.” Panos said to her.

“It’s uh, it’s fine.” Mina said. “It’s not that big of a deal anyways. My whole family has brown skin actually.”

“Wow, so your whole family is special.” Panos said, sounding amazed, and Mina had no idea how to respond to that. Sofos on the other just chuckled.

“I would not be surprised if that were true Panos. Now Mina, if you have any questions about anything, you come to me. I used to be a teacher back in the day, and I’ve learned quite a bit over the years, so I should be able to answer any confusion you may have.” Sofos said.

“Ok Miss Sofos.” Mina said, and the old lady chuckled.

“Please, don’t bother with the ‘Miss’ thing, just call me Old Lady Sofos, everyone does.” She said. “Now, you and Athan go finish your little tour, I’ll be here when you need me.”

“Alright, we’ll see you again later Old Lady Sofos.” Athan said. “Now, come Mina, we’ve still got a few more people to talk to.”

Athan then lead Mina over to the teenager who was cleaning up the med bay area, letting Mina get a better look at her. In many ways, Iro reminded Mina of her sister Danis. They both wore their hair in a pony tail, though Iro’s was blue and curly while Danis’ was black and straight. They both were visibly very fit, having basically identical figures with annoyingly bigger breasts than other girls their age. They even both carried themselves with the same relaxed cheerful attitude. Naturally, where they differed most was in outfit. Iro was wearing for the most part a casual looking outfit of sky blue pants and purple shirt, but overtop of it Iro wore a breast plate, shoulder plates, and forarm and shin guards. She also wore a darker blue cape that went almost the full length of her back.

“Alright, well. Agapi forgot to mention this earlier, but she is our main medic. But when she’s not available, her daughter Iro here can patch you up instead. She’ll also be training alongside you most of the time.” Athan explained as they approached the girl. “Iro, this is Mina, the person that was summoned to help us.”

“Oh, so you’re the one.” Iro said, sounding distinctly disappointed, but putting out a hand to shake regardless. “Hello Mina, nice to meet you.”

“You were hoping I’d be a hot guy your age, weren’t you.” Mina said flatly as she shook her hand. Iro blushed, not saying anything, and that told Mina she’d hit the nail on the head.

‘She’s just like Danis.’ Mina thought, both annoyed and amused at that fact.

“Anyways, like Athan said, I’ll be training alongside you. Don’t think I’ll go easy on you just because you’re a kid though.” Iro then said, a competitive smirk coming to her lips, one that Mina mirrored.

“Hah, I’m a chosen one, you I’m the one that should be carful to go easy on you.” Mina shot back. Beside them Athan chuckled.

“Glad to see there’s already some competitiveness between you two, but make sure it remains healthy competition. We are all still on the same side, don’t forget that.” He said as he placed a hand on Mina’s shoulder. “In any case, we’ll let you get back to your work. We still have a few more stops before we’re done.”

Iro waved them off and went back to work cleaning the med bay, and Athan lead Mina over to the kitchen where the last two remaining un introduced people were.

“Mina, allow me to introduce you to Foteini, our supply manager and chef, and Nik, Dory’s son. Foteini, Nik, this is Mina.” Athan introduced. Both of them turned to look at Mina.

Foteini was what Mina had seen Danis describe as petite. She was clearly an adult, but just barely, probably only in her early 20s, and she was very short and slim. She had bright blond hair that she had tied into a long ponytail, wore a purple t-shirt, sky blue pants, and a cape that went down as far as Iro’s. She also wore dark purple leather gloves.

Nik on the other hand looked basically like a kid version of his father. The only real difference was the outfit as he wore a dark blue translucent shirt that covered chain mail, dark blue pants, and a blue cape that went down to about his knees.

“Huh, younger than I expected… I’ll be able to use less supplies than I expected… unless her goddess blessing means she needs to eat more than I’d expected… should I make less or more than I’d planned to make…” Foteini trailed off as she looked back down at the food she was preparing, seemingly already having forgotten they were there. Nik on the other hand was looking at Mina with surprise.

“You’re the one goddess Uraina sent us to help us save everyone?” He asked. “I didn’t expect you to be a girl my age.”

“What, did you expect me to be teenage boy like your older sister?” Mina asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Older sister? Wait, you mean Iro?” Nik questioned, and Mina nodded, prompting Nik to aggressively shake his head. “No, no way, Iro is NOT my older sister!”

“Ok ok, calm down, sheesh. I was just guessing and I guessed wrong, no need to get so upset.” Mina said with a roll of her eyes.

“Yeah, well, you shouldn’t make guesses about important stuff like that.” He said, sounding shockingly defensive.

“Ok, I’m sensing more hostility than I expected here. Perhaps you two should get to know each other at a different time. We’ll let you get back to your cooking.” Athan said, leading Mina away from the kitchen area, allowing Nik to get back to cutting vegetables.

“So, that’s everyone huh?” Mina asked once they were a few steps away from Nik. Athan shook his head.

“Not quite. For the rest of them though, we need to head outside.” He said, and began guiding her towards the door.
