Visitor Chaotic

The data that Nina was able to extract was presented to both King Hunter Aurora and King Reigns Ataraxia. Nina presented the functions of the IRL system. Currently Iris is utilized to capture a retina scan of the eyes, she explained that through a clear image doctors can observe an individual’s health or complications that could be on the rise within the body.

The Radial was the ‘controller’ of the system and was equipped with multiple functions. Through the Radial, users could answer calls, send messages, files, etc. But the primary function of Radial is to monitor the heart rate, pulse, blood flow, and nutrition intake.

The Linkxs sent a signal through the brain registering a temporary neural connection to synchronize with the other two devices, thus creating the IRL.

From the data collected Nina discovered a project file called Colony. She could not find any details but noticed that it was pulling certain candidates’ information and storing it under that project file. When Nina looked at the profiles of the candidates she could not determine why they were selected. She could not find any common criteria that linked all of those candidates.

Nina goes further into the last piece of information that she could find. The database was also separating candidates into two groups and then further separating it again. First, once the database for the candidates was received through the IRL, they are then filed by whether they had unlocked a GIFT or not. Then, in the Gifted file the database separated the candidates by how many Gifts they could use.

In the file of candidates that did not unlock a Gift they were then separated by candidates that had vitals and biometric readings that indicated if the candidate was close to unlocking a Gift. That information was created and based by a growing algorithm of benchmarks of candidates’ vitals and biometric readings when the Gift was unlocked.

All the information gathered is recorded in the database at the Arck maintained by Atlas. Currently Atlas can see all the information in real time and can properly recruit candidates at the Rite. Users of the IRL system are unaware that the data is being collected once the IRL is attached. There is no consent required it is just taken.

Further the file folder for Project Colony is also a concern. No record can be found, and no information of such a project has been hear of…yet.

King Reigns Ataraxia has his suspicions confirmed by Nina.

“So, Hunter, what do you think?”

“This is concerning. What can we do? Atlas has grown in power and with credibility. Both of our kingdoms have aided in their advancements, and we have also benefitted greatly. For us to act in public, and to come against them would create an unwanted enemy. “

King Ataraxia sighs in frustration, “I’d hate to admit it, but you are correct. We are just at fault in the way we partnered with them, to benefit ourselves. But this is wrong. There should be transparency for the people, not just our people but everyone.”

“I agree Reigns, but coming to them with this matter in hand, publicly, would be irreparable. What other options do we have?”

“This could affect the future generations to come sooner if we choose to do nothing. Especially if we do not know what their plan is for that Project Colony. Hunter, we must do something.”

“I understand Atlas wanting the best talent possible, but this seems to be more than that. We’re missing something.”

“We may never see it. It could be years down the road for their Project Colony to come to fruition.”

The two kings ponder and weigh their options. Just then Nina, entrenched on her screens begins to close all her windows in a blink. Then a low hum vibrates, Nina then pokes the space directly in front of her to see it ripple. Then a figure walks through masked with a visor, it’s a female. On her jacket Nina makes out the lapel showing a three-digit number, 099.

The female presses the device on her ear, and the visor lifts up, and the mask covering her nose and mouth splits and retracts just in front of her ears. She smiles at Nina who is stunned in amazement. King Aurora and King Ataraxia are in shock as Avis and Iria watch from a far.

The girl smiles at Nina as she fixes and adjusts her jacket.

“Nina, right?” the girl asks joyfully.

Nina hesitates before she responds, “Yes…can I help you? Do I know you?”

“Not yet you don’t. My name is Mi—r, I mean, my name is ‘Chaotic’. Is that King Hunter Aurora and King Reigns Ataraxia?”

Nina points toward the two kings as Chaotic nods, “Yes that’s them.”

“Cool! Um here go get some ice cream on me.” Chaotic gives Nina some money and makes her way to the two kings. As she clears away from Nina, Iria and Avis rush in front of the kings taking their stance to defend their fathers.

Iria reads the display from her Iris device.

Avis reads her Iris device and sees the same information. Confused the looks at Iria, they nod and without a word they’re about to dash at Chaotic, but by the time they turn to face her, her hands are both their shoulders. The place they just saw her they see a purple smoke settling.

“Too slow princesses. I’m not here to fight.” Chaotic lifts her hands and in that instance, Avis and Iria are pulled together by a purple orb of energy swirling them together like a tether.

“I promise this will be quick.” Chaotic approaches the kings, “With that information you have from Nina, you can have her leak it to this site.”

She opens a window from her customized Radial and pushes the enlarged image to the kings to read.

Hunter and Reigns read and look over the site.

“Who are you?” Hunter asks.

Reigns sees the customized Radial and points, “Did you make that? Isn’t that the Radial device?”

“First, I’m ‘Chaotic’. Second, yes, your majesty it is, and I built –I mean given this as a test…It’s a prototype.” Chaotic catches herself to not give any more information than she needs.

Hunter and Reigns look over the site.

“This is a media outlet. If we give it to them, it will ruin Atlas, and we would be also at risk.” Say Reigns.

“I know someone there that will take care of it. Atlas will be fine. Your kingdoms will be fine, and no one will investigate this matter after this is done.”

Hunter suspecting it’s too good to be true asks, “What’s in it for you?”

“Nothing.”

“Then why?” asks Reigns.

“Let’s just say that it will buy time like you discussed. For the future.”

Reigns and Hunter look at each other unknowingly if they can trust this young woman Chaotic who mysteriously showed up. As Iria and Avis break free they try to apprehend Chaotic but, in a blink, she disappears and is in front of Nina.

“Nina, here is the information for the media site. Follow these instructions and only include these files as part of your submission. Follow everything as instructed and everything will be fine.”

Nina looks up trying to recall if she has seen the young woman before. Her Radial blinks, and Nina opens the notification.

“There you go Nina. Got it?”

Nina reads over the message and nods, “Okay. Got it.”

“Good. Oh here, something for you, in your spare time. See if you can build that.”

Nina receives another message; it’s a schematic for a device she has not seen. It catches her interest, and she stores it on her Radial.

Just then the low hum returns and Chaotic clicks her Radial and the mask comes forward sealing her nose and mouth as the visor lowers to attach connecting to the mask.

*Click*

Chaotic walks through a portal and shortly after in an instant the portal flashes shut.

Nina looks at the two kings awaiting their decision.

King Aurora and King Ataraxia discuss the scenario as their daughters, Iria and Avis give their input. After their deliberation they give Nina the order to follow the instructions she is given from Chaotic.

“Why couldn’t we see her information. There was no name, no age, and Iris could not identify what her Gifts are.” Says a frustrated Avis.

“Maybe there was something wrong with the Iris, maybe it couldn’t read her?” Iria races through possible reasons. But she has an idea why Chaotic’s information showed as ‘Unknown’.

“You already know why Princess Iria.” Says Nina.

Avis and Iria turn to Nina for confirmation to her words.

“Chaotic’s information is not in the Arck database, so the IRL cannot display it to us.”

King Ataraxia overhears, “But she had a Radial device, and she said they gave it to her to test it. That it was a prototype!”

“Reigns, think about it. This, Chaotic shows up with a custom Radial device, her information is not in the Arck database…She wants to stay hidden. Atlas wants to be in control of their technology; they would never let someone run around with an unmarked prototype. But she came to help us?”

King Ataraxia pauses and realizes that his longtime friend and King of Aurora, Hunter is right. He catches himself; he’s overthinking.

“You’re right Hunter. I’m just overthinking. I think she did come to help. We may have the same common interest about the future and Atlas collecting data for Project Colony.”

“Father, are you sure?” Avis asks with concern.

“No, but we can’t be stuck. You’ll find out one day; all decisions have consequences. It’s just a question of which consequence can you live with.”

Nina follows the instructions Chaotic gave and uploads the recommended files that was extracted from the Arck database to the media site. Within the next couple of days, the media releases a report about the information being collected by the IRL system and how users did not give consent for such information to be stored.

Then a few days later another report was released, this time about a global law being passed that required the Arck database be utilized by all five bodies of entities in their recruiting process of candidates that participated in the Rite.

In a couple of years Atlas remade the Iris device into the Iris+1 device that would help prevent data being intercepted during transmission. Nina suspects that her transmitter may have been found. Nina soon found another way to extract information from the Arck database. Atlas never did find how their information was leaked to the public.

At the training facility at Aurora, Avis and Iria grab a seat as the take a breather from their training. Towels draped over the two of them enjoy the view of the horizon facing east where Avis and her family will soon head back to Ataraxia.

“It’s a shame Iria that we didn’t get to participate at the Rite. I would have loved for us to discover each other’s Gift.”

“That’s true. But I think it was done for good reason.”

Mara, Terue, and Nina approach Avis and Iria, each holding a case in hand. Iria and Avis notice them and sit up anxiously looking at the cases they’re holding.

“What are those?” Avis inquires.

“There are prototypes of a custom IRL system made by yours truly.”

Terue side-eyes Mara, “Eh, Mara that’s not nice, Nina did most of the work.”

“I was just about to credit Nina; you just jumped ahead.”

Nina opens the case and pulls out a customized Radial. This Radial is very similar to the one designed by Atlas but is much lighter and there is a dial near the area of the wrist. Nina demonstrates how the dial is secured and how one can access it to turn it.

The next item she takes out of the case is an earpiece. The earpiece goes over the ear and has a boom coming to the front, but it’s not long enough to reach the mouth. Nina explains that this piece will go just under the eye. She demonstrates that once it’s on she uses the dial to adjust the boom to sit right under the eye. Once it’s positioned the earpiece is turned on and adjusts the visual boom which then flickers on projecting the same data as the Iris+1. Nina brings out the various earpieces which her and Mara designed. They decided to call it Whisper.

The user can choose to go with one of the variation designs based on their needs. Whisper can eliminate the audio portion of calls and videos to be more discreet. Mara explains that this system doesn’t require the third device Linkxs, and that if they needed to capture brainwave data, they could easily add the feature in to the current designs of Whisper. Mara explains that this design can be more secure with their encryption and can be utilized for training at their facilities without worrying to transmit the data to the Arck.

Iria looks plays with the features, “Basically we have our own system we can utilize for training. Our soldiers and people can do so without revealing any information to the Arckk database. This would give us a chance to look at our people for talents.”

Avis chimes in, “Correct. Although people who need to seek out certain opportunities will eventually have to go and participate in the Rite, it gives them an option to develop their abilities locally.”

Mara and Nina nod with enthusiasm and accomplishment.

“Where did you get the idea for this?” asks Iria.

“From Chaotic.” Says Nina. “The schematics she gave me were for the Radial she used and part of the earpiece that came from the headset she was using.”

“There were notes on the schematic too. It shows how to integrate some of the other features that could be utilized.” Mara adds.

Elated at the new devices Avis has a mischievous smile, “Iria, how about we go a round or two and see how these things hold up?”

“Glad too. It’s been a while since we gone all out.”

“Alright! Let’s go!”
