Chapter 1:

Excuse me, WHERE?!?

STRING: BOND - Aunt's Experiments

In an otherworldly dimension, June of 2065. A relatively modern world, not as futuristic as you might think.

One room in Ialan’s sister’s aunt’s house is odd. It’s far more disturbing than a slaughter house. See, aunt Aeltheia is what the witches call a “Herbal Witch”, a witch doctor. But rather than a doctor, Ialan thinks she’s more of a mad scientist. She retired years ago, but her…experiments are still ongoing there. And entering that room is something he doesn’t want to do ever again.

Today, Ialan found himself inside that room, cradling a…sort of magical? creature he never once saw in the human world. Maybe a way to describe it is, it’s a two-legged bald sheep—that still has its bumps except instead of wool, it’s…skin—has mossed-covered limbs, and a blobfish-y head. And no, its cheeks are not jiggly. It’s as hard as dried mud. And brainless, and skull-less.

This thing is quite heavy. Dangerous too, it’s powerful enough to attack a 9 year old like Ialan to death. Gladly, his sister Marina has put it to sleep earlier, although the spell won’t last long. “Aunt… a little help?” and he was ignored. Aeltheia was way too busy putting whatever potions on whatever other creatures she made the kids capture. “Aunt–”

BAM! Marina opened the door and barged in, cheery as ever. “AUNT!! I‘VE GOT MORE!” She's grasping a colossal dragonfly-like thing, trying to buzz its wings free from her rope. Its head is as big as a tennis ball. Their bites hurt. Don’t ask how Ialan knows. Oh, but he can see its, uhhh, teeth? Jaws? Mandibles? have already been removed beforehand. So it can't cause harm.

Right behind her is Emeru, holding a box. Inside it is a… err, just imagine crabs connected in a line behaving like a worm. That. It’s muddy like it’s been digging soil, and so are Emeru’s hands. “Huff…huff… this is enough, right?”

“Sure, put ‘em down anywhere,” not even looking their way.

Marina does not like her current attitude, so Emeru gave her a normal beetle and she put it in aunt’s collar from behind, inside her sweater. Aunt immediately yelped and tweaked as the two laughed. Once it’s off, she grabbed Marina, “You brat!”

While watching the usual banter, Ialan noticed the creature he caught had started to wake up. “Um…guys?” Its skin is expanding to emit poison, “Aunt?!” Finally, Theia noticed.

“Shit!” She grabbed an empty paper and drew a Sealing Spell. She ran to the creature to try and stick the seal on where it should—right on the top of its head. Except, this one has no skull. Its head might be hard, but it’s still slimy-slippery like a blobfish. Also has no brain, so it has a dent right on the peak of its head.

Theia went back to her desk. "Ialan! Take this and find a way to put it on the top of its head!" She went on to draw more seals, knowing this might take more than two tries. Ialan approaches the creature and does as told, but...

Where is the “top”? Where should this seal go? Ah, the seal slips off regardless of the placement because of the slimy texture. Are the eyes technically the “top” of its head? It's the highest point... How can he make it stick when it's slipping off...?

...THIS THING DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A FOREHEAD!!!

Well, technically it does, but it's sucked in by its hollow stupid head!

Ialan grabbed a pushpin and stabbed the seal securely into its eye. Shortly after a moment, it stopped moving.

Did it work? Or did the creature just feel unbelievably disrespected that it froze? They don't know.

The thing is, the seal is on. For now.
