Chapter 47:
PSW AU: The Amazon's Dream
More than half the boxes Suzanna brought back from the Ogre's Plate couldn't fit in the fridge, so they were just stacked up on the kitchen counter, waiting to spoil. Sarah took a photo and posted it to the apartment block's group chat, while Suzanna stood awkwardly by the sink.
"There," Sarah said, typing the invitation to come and collect, "Hopefully, all this doesn't go to waste."
She turned to glare at Suzanna again, "I don't care how long it takes or how either of you feels about it, you are paying back every single cent he spent on you today. Got it?"
Suzanna nodded as Sarah walked to the living room and fell onto the couch, "So, did you at least have fun on your date?"
Fifth time. Tomato face, "It wasn't a date!"
Sarah made a duckface, "Really? What was it then?"
Suzanna's whole body quivered, and she stared at the floor, "It was... I-I-It was... N-Nevermind, I'm going to take a shower!"
She marched over to the bathroom door and grabbed the handle.
"I'm not fully sold on him," Sarah stated, prompting a head turn from the big girl, "But... I can rest easier knowing you're in good hands."
Suzanna smiled, "Thanks, Sarah."
"And I'll admit it, seeing him up close, he is pretty hot..."
Suzanna blushed and her smile widened, "Yeah..."
"And he has a really nice bike."
Suzanna closed her eyes, her smile widening further, "Yeah..." then she opened them wide with horrified realisation and saw her roommate glaring at her again with an almost poisonous aura around her.
"You know, when I got home and couldn't reach you, I called that restaurant..." Sarah explained through gritted teeth, "They told you guys had taken off, on his bike."
She then slowly stood up and started making her way over, "You wanna tell me where he took you?"
Suzanna pressed herself against the bathroom door, trembling as Sarah got closer.
"Well?"
"He sh-showed me, C-Crüger..."
"Who?"
"His, uh, monster truck..."
"... You... rode a motorcycle AND a freakin' monster truck?!"
"... Y-Yeah..." Suzanna quietly admitted.
All of the incredible muscles on Sarah's body, honed over a lifetime of weight-lifting, amateur wrestling, and mixed martial arts training, became taut, "Suzanna..."
Suzanna held up her hands, "Wait! B-Before you get mad, th-there's something you should know."
"Enlighten me."
Suzanna took a deep breath, "It's... all your fault."
"What?"
"You're the one who told me to go outside in the first place," she said, folding her arms and giving Sarah a stern expression of disapproval in an attempt at saving herself, "I-If you had just let me stay inside the whole day, I wouldn't have done that."
Sarah stared at her in utter disbelief and then just started laughing. Laughing loudly and heartily. Suzanna hesitated for a moment before joining in. The two childhood friends shared in this moment of joyful camaraderie for a full minute.
And then Sarah stopped laughing.
Suzanna didn't. Not until it was too late.
Outside, some of the neighbours had gathered to receive Sarah's generous offer of free food. The door to the apartment violently swung open, with the giant form of Suzanna attempting to sprint out, only to trip and fall.
She desperately looked up at the crowd of onlookers and cried out, "HELP!"
Unfortunately for her, they were all too familiar with the two of them, so they knew to create as much distance as possible when the smaller woman appeared in the doorway. Suzanna looked back in utter terror and then tried to crawl away.
Sarah smiled at the neighbours, while still maintaining that same poisonous aura, "Hey, everyone! Thanks for coming. I'll be with you all in a minute."
She then grabbed Suzanna by her feet and slowly dragged her back inside.
"Sarah, please!" Suzanna begged, clawing at the ground to no avail, "I won't do it again, I swear!"
"Oh, I'm gonna make sure of that," Sarah promised.
Suzanna tried one last gambit, the one that never worked, "I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY! I'M SO-"
Sarah slammed the door shut. Suzanna's screams and continued cries for mercy were muffled, but not unheard.
The crowd of neighbours could do nothing but exchange guilty looks, nervous laughter and join together in prayer.
Two things would be accomplished before this night was over:
1) Suzanna would never sit on the back of a motorcycle again. In fact, she wouldn't be sitting comfortably on anything for quite some time.
2) None of the very expensive food that Simon had paid for would go to waste.
