I had already checked the map before, and I’d found a route to escape this cursed jungle. But the thing is… the map makes it look easy. Reality? Yeah, not so much.
So, I took out my camera and the map, pressed the button, and instantly dove straight into the map.
“What the hell?!” Shimon shouted.
Obviously, he had no idea my camera could do this. From his perspective, I just vanished into thin air, leaving him staring at empty space.
“It’s okay, he’ll come back. Trust me,” Mira told him calmly.
Shimon gave her a hesitant nod. “...Alright.”
Inside the map’s VR world, I quickly navigated the paths. The way out was actually quite close—but who knew what kind of nightmare awaited us on that route? Still, it was a straight shot to freedom.
I returned from the map and told them, “I found it. The fastest way out of here. Just follow me.”
And yeah, I know what you’re thinking: Why am I suddenly acting all responsible?Well, let me explain—situations like this turn boys into men. And in my case, I’m the only one here with the skills to pull this off. So… you’re welcome. Also, yes, I’m super cool.
We started walking in the direction that led to freedom. The others followed, but before long, I felt something chasing us. This time, we didn’t have the luxury to stop and investigate.
“Follow my lead!” I shouted, and we started running.
That’s when I saw it—a massive silver-haired wolf, the size of a human, with fangs sharp enough to bite through steel. It was sprinting toward us at incredible speed.
No choice—I used my Memory Mist to slow it down. But when the mist touched the wolf… I felt no hostility from it. That was strange. I stopped running and turned to face it.
“What are you doing?!” Shimon yelled.
“I don’t feel any threat from him. Let me handle this,” I said, though Shimon was already preparing a spell just in case.
The wolf’s glowing silver coat shimmered as it locked eyes with me. I knew we were the same size, but compared to its muscular build, I felt small. And yes, I was kinda terrified on the inside—but I tried to play it cool.
Back on Earth, I loved dogs. I even had one when I was seventeen. He passed away after four years. I… don’t really want to talk about how. Some memories are better left alone.
I slowly reached into my item box and pulled out raw meat. The wolf snatched it from my hand and began eating. I petted his head—soft, warm, and perfectly groomed fur. His tail wagged like a happy puppy.
I turned to leave, but he followed me, licking my hand.
“Uh… you can go now, buddy. We’ve gotta get moving,” I said. But of course, he didn’t understand—or maybe he just ignored me.
Shimon and Mira were staring in disbelief. “What are you doing with that thing?”
“He’s not letting me go. I think he wants to play,” I replied.
They looked like they’d just seen the laws of nature rewritten. This terrifying beast… acting like a spoiled dog?
A thought struck me. “I should keep him as my new companion.”
“You’re insane,” Shimon muttered. “He could be dangerous.”
But after some persistent insisting (and maybe a little begging), they finally sighed. “Fine. Do whatever you want.”
I turned to the wolf. “Come with us if you want.”
Now, I’m terrible at naming things, but after thinking way too hard, I decided: “Your name will be… Frost.”
The moment I said it, his tail wagged furiously, light flared from his body, and a strange voice echoed in my head:
You have tamed the Mystical Wolf of Hell Jungle.
I froze. Mystical wolf? I quickly checked my camera—this wolf was powerful. And… he could use magic.
Why he approached me and decided to join us is still a mystery. But I’d figure it out later. For now, we ran together, Frost easily keeping pace.
And then… I saw it. A bright light at the end of the path.
“Finally…” I muttered, a smile creeping onto my face.
