Chapter 2:
Star Evolution
The wind whips and blows. She found herself on a deserted island, on some nearby planet.
Nothing else is here except her and the formidable sight of her sister, the silver haired one who rules over the cosmos. She has crossed her arms and is smirking; she is waiting for her sister to stand up. Though she seems to be a bit...impatient? The divine builder is unsure, but she stares into the sky, recounting what had just occurred.
After flying out of her ship, her sister flew towards her in a flash. She collided with her body, elbowing her in the chest. The builder defended herself with her ADF, her auto defense field, but was sent hurtling, flying through the sky. She landed on this uninhabitable planet that bore no name. She gets up off the ground and dusts herself off, eyeing up the surroundings.
“It seems like this island is not inhabited by anything, but by rocks and mountains. How very kind of you to bring me here.”
Star breaker smirks.
“Perfect for you, hmm?” The builder remarks.
“I just don’t want anyone else to get in the way. Now cease talking, now we fight!” She puts her left hand behind her back and raises two fingers with her right hand, holding them in front of her chest. Purple energy flows through them.
“Ah, Star breaker, my sister. You have never changed, have you?”
The woman clad in old battle armor assumes a battle stance, leaning her hips forward.
A hammer materializes out of thin air and she grabs it. She raises it in the air and behind her shoulder. She stares at Star breaker, eyeing her down.
Then, a moment later.
The two clash. Sparks ignite as the two move at inhuman speeds, attacking each other fiercely. Their bodies cannot be seen anymore but brief blurs of light can be seen as they collide with each other. The hammer collides with the two fingers and is repelled, causing a massive energy shockwave that rattles the island they are on. They begin to move even faster.
Her hammer swings down, violently smashing into the ground where the silver one stood.
But Star breaker moves effortlessly, teleporting behind her sister.
She jabs at her neck, murderous aura ablaze. The builder barely dodges but then gets sent flying into the ground. Her sister quickly leaped into the air and roundhouse kicked her from the left, smashing into her jaw. Her neck creaks and she spits out blood as she is sent tumbling into the ground, spinning horizontally. She is sent smashing into a nearby large boulder, crushing through it with the impact.
“Hahahaha! You are rusty! You’ve been skipping your training recently, eh?”
“Unlike you, I don’t have an unhealthy obsession with fighting. Or murder.” She coughs a little blood up but gathers herself, climbing out of the debris. Damage was minimal, it seemed.
“You should. Don’t deny our heritage! The pride of a warrior...” The smirk slightly slides off her face as she ponders something. Her expression has changed.
“Ah yes, the blood-soaked history of our ancestors.”
“That is a myth. A legend. I haven’t been able to find a single damn thing that proves the legends are true.” The builder spits out nastily. Not something she likes to remember. She continues glancing at her sister.
“I’m not that adverse to battle, but there hasn’t been war in eons.” She continues speaking.
“There will be one. Soon...” Something is bothering the silver haired woman. Her sister can tell.
“What do you mean?”
“....” Star Breaker does not respond to her question.
The builder lets out a sigh. She has seen this episode play out before. Whenever she asked her sister about certain things, it seemed like she refused to answer.
It was clear she was hiding something. But what? What was she hiding from her, she wondered. Was it important? Or was she merely posturing?
It was always hard to tell what was on her mind, even when they were younger. When the two once lived together, played together, bathed together. What led her to become like this?
Star breaker was as kind as any small girl when she was young. But when she grew up, something...changed in her. Something made her like this. The builder was unable to determine what happened to her, but she knew what she had to do, at least for now.
“Overly being concerned is just making you distracted, my sister. Let’s get this over with.” The builder raises right arm, making her hammer soar, returning it to her hand. She grabs the visor that is covering her eyes and removes it. A golden aura envelopes her body. Energy she had been suppressing surges out, cracking the ground she is standing on.
“This is our battle, so let us finish it, right now!”
“Indeed.” A purple aura surrounds her. The two stare at each other for a moment then disappear.
An earth shattering collision occurs. The two collide so strongly, it destroys parts of the island they were standing on before. An explosion can be seen from the dreadnaught, which is about fifty kilometers from their location. The waves of energy emitting push the ship backwards, rocking it violently.
“More power to the forward energy shield! Those two really don’t know how to hold back when they get riled up. A sisterly bond~” Diana smiles, enjoying their sisterly “love.” This was not the first time she had seen this sort of thing happen between the two of them. She was, in a sense, almost as old as them.
She was the first machine that Divi built, so she remembers the days of her youth. She was a feisty little goddess, untamed.
The two sisters wrecked place after place, causing a wreck everywhere they went.
She stops reminiscing, then she directs some of the servants on the bridge to redirect the main ship’s sensors. The debris and rocks are splattered but a clear view of the battle can be seen once more, on the ships side viewing cameras.
Star breaker has the upper hand. She is overpowering her sister with little effort. She has grabbed her sister by the throat and is choking her but not hard enough to kill her.
“Pathetic. Wretched. Pitiful.” She leans her body backward as the two are floating in the air and throws her sister hard, sending her crashing through more floating debris in the air. The divine hammer coughs up some more blood, groaning in pain.
This is generally how most of their battles went. She simply couldn’t match up to her sister’s combat strength.
“Do you enjoy this? I certainly don’t enjoy—” She starts. Star breaker’s expression darkens, her fury rises. Her fists clench up.
She violently punches the divine builder in the stomach, stopping her from speaking. Her anger is palpable.
“LIAR. I can see the true essence of your spirit, locked within you. It truly enjoys this battle, as much as mine does.” Star breaker, too, was also frustrated at her sister growing up. She knew she was just as capable as she was when it came to fighting.
She just began to hold back as she got older, never fighting with her true strength.
The Divine hammer had grown rusty. She had grown complacent.
She only focused on building for others, not building herself from within.
“You just sealed it away with your hammer, with your ‘building’!” Star breaker screams at her sister. Star Breaker can see something inside of her, something raw, unrefined. The strength to overcome the impossible. A spark of her true potential. But for the moment, it was sealed.
“Don’t you dare tell me you didn’t enjoy this battle of ours. Or all our scuffles. Your face may not tell it, but your spirit tells me otherwise.” She floats backwards, still angrily staring at her sister.
“I still don’t...” She coughs a little more but finally regains the air in her lungs. She holds her stomach, grimacing.
“No, I will never take pleasure in this sort of thing. Haven’t I told you before? Or maybe you’re just so damn stubborn you can’t see reality yourself!” Her hammer smashes into Star breaker’s back, sending her spinning.
“Ungh. Ouch, how touchy. Did I hit a nerve?” Star breaker goes flying into the air but has mostly shrugged off the attack. She wasn’t even bruised from a giant hammer strike, impressively.
“Anyway. Enough of this farce. I think we can declare you the winner, as usual.” The builder grabs her hammer, then falls over, somewhat exhausted. Losing to her sister was generally the result, even when she was more active. This was simply another loss for her.
She was tired of this; she had more important things to worry about than simple “battles.” This loss was a bit more brutal than usual, though.
The builder was a bit out of shape, this battle tired her far too quickly. Star breaker gathered herself, a little bruised but not nearly as much as her sister. She simply scoffs at her sister and turns around.
“You will see what I mean soon enough.”
“See what? You don’t tell me anything!” Star breaker merely shrugs in response, then continues lecturing her sister, further angering the Divine Hammer.
“I can’t. I cannot tell you what is happening. Instead, you must experience it firsthand. You will have to carve a path to the future.” The anger vanishes from her face. Star breaker has become serious. Solemn even.
“You know. You, you are something. You bully your sister, then lecture her? You piece of shit. How typical!” The divine hammer laughed a little, even though she was angry. She couldn’t make sense of her sister’s behavior or words. She didn’t think this was how sisters ought to treat each other.
Star breaker does not turn around, she begins to charge energy, while she is floating in the air. The silver haired woman prepares to leave.
“I do what I must. But for now, I will leave. We will meet again! And try to train a little more this time...I can tell you didn’t do any hard training for the last twenty years.” Before the builder can respond, she soars off at high speeds, leaving a sonic boom in her wake, shaking the air. The divine hammer merely sighs and gives up, staring into the clouds. Laying on a large chunk of rocks floating in the air, from the island they destroyed.
“Aaaaaah, looks like I’ll have to fix this broken island later, that will take a couple days...”
Her visor lights up and she gets a call from her ship. Diana has sent a visual call from the main deck. Her gleeful face appears on a digital screen in front of her.
“I see you two have finished playing around. Maybe you can play with me later, too, hehe.”
“Stop messing around. You are aware you are not a combat designed unit, you are made for support and observation...you can’t hurt a fly.”
“Nooppppppeeeeeeeeee!” Diana giggles and dances, jumping up and down.
Truly a sight for sore eyes. Those glistening blue eyes, that brilliant golden yellow hair. Her dainty maid outfit she always wears.
“Want a closer look? Just ‘inspect’ me later.”
“Fly the damn ship over here before I send you to the brig.”
“Tch,no fun. As you wish., my lord.” Diana sighs and ends the transmission. She clearly picked up some bad habits from someone else.
“But who? I didn’t design her like this at all. I’m going to figure out where she did!” She grumbles, not even fully realizing her real feelings for Diana. Oblivious and dense as a brick.
After some time, The Dreadnaught soars into view above her, casting a shadow above her. Its length is about ten city blocks, its engines are humming well. Seeing her ship brings a smile to her face.
“This thing has sure lasted a while.” She sighs.
“Compared to my first ship, that thing. Well. Exploded in the first six months. Story for another day.” She looks upwards, staring expectedly. The ship’s shield lowers, and a dock bay door is open, servant drones are awaiting her return.
“It is time to go home.”
Meanwhile, Star breaker flies off into the distance, pondering her life.
Star breaker, the breaker of the stars. A goddess known for destruction, for causing havoc everywhere. She was known as someone who didn’t like following the rules, a troublemaker.
But it was all a farce.
An act she conjured up, to hide her true self. The future depended on it. Also, she needed her sister. The Divine Hammer was pivotal to their success
And the blonde haired warrior would need the others. Ones that she has yet to meet; they will be the ones to guide the universe forward, they will become their protectors.
These thoughts welled up inside of her as she floated away
She grimaced. It was not enjoyable pretending to act this way. But it was necessary. She needed to push her sister forward.
Other gods. These two were not the only two that ruled over this universe.
There were others, she thought.
Some of them will become our enemies, some will betray us. But those words would never come out. No, they could never come out. Star breaker refused to tell her sister the events of the future.
But one day, she thought she will. She must. She will have to wait for that time. The time they can unite as warriors. Star Breaker turns around, seeing her sister’s ship fly away. She thinks of the trouble yet to come. Soon, they will meet again, the god thinks. But for the moment, there are other matters. Searching for the other star warriors that will aid them.
“I must find them, the other ones that are brimming with potential.” She mutters to herself.
