Chapter 1:
Three Worlds, One Choice
My name is Haruto Kisaragi, I’m 16 years old, and I study at Hoshizora Academy. My daily routine is simple: I wake up at 7 AM, make breakfast, eat, and get ready for school. It was supposed to be another normal day… but that day changed everything.
Hey, Haruto!”
That familiar voice belonged to my childhood friend—the same person who would later kill me because of a misunderstanding.
We walked to school together as usual and attended classes until the final bell rang. Just as I was preparing to go home, Aoi Kushima, my only childhood friend’s crush, called me behind the gym storage room. I’m fairly popular because of my looks, so I assumed it was just another confession. Still, I decided to go.
When we arrived behind the gym, I already had a feeling about what would happen. That spot was famous for confessions. I sighed softly and said, “Listen, Aoi… I can’t go out with you. I’m really sorry. I’m not interested in dating anyone right now.”
Aoi looked down, her eyes trembling. Then she said something that sent chills through me.
“If I can’t have you, then I won’t let anyone else have you either.”
Before I could react, she suddenly pulled me in and kissed me deeply.
At that exact moment, my childhood friend arrived. He had heard from a classmate that Aoi and I were behind the gym together. People whispered that it was a popular confession spot. He went there—just in time to see Aoi kissing me. From his perspective, it looked like I was kissing her back… and worse, that I was touching her. His expression froze in shock and pain.
He had told me long ago that he liked Aoi. I knew that. That’s why I rejected her. But now, seeing that scene, he believed I had betrayed him. His world shattered before my eyes.
“If you weren’t in this world, Aoi would be mine,” he muttered. “Why, Haruto? Why did you do this? You knew I liked her…”
His eyes grew cold. “Everything is fair in love and war, right?”
When I saw him, I quickly pushed Aoi away. “Wait! You’ve got it wrong! I told her I can’t date anyone. She suddenly kissed me. Please, believe me!”
But Aoi was crying, and my childhood friend turned away without a word.
Later that evening, I received a message from him:
“Meet me at the station.”
I thought, I’ll clear up this misunderstanding once and for all.
When I arrived, he greeted me calmly. “Hey, Haruto.”
“Listen,” I started, “about what happened behind the gym—”
He smiled faintly. “It’s okay. I know you’re popular among the girls… but I’m jealous, you know? You have everything. Even Aoi.”
“Wait, that’s not it!” I tried to explain. “I rejected her—she forced that kiss! Please, believe me!”
He nodded slowly. “Yeah, I know. That’s why… if you disappear, Aoi will forget you and only love me.”
“Wait—what do you mean by that—?”
Before I could finish, he pushed me onto the railway tracks.
I saw the train coming. So this is how it ends?
The impact was brutal. My vision blurred, blood filled my mouth. But somehow, I was still conscious. I thought, I can still move. I’ll go to the hospital. I’ll live…
But he wasn’t finished.
He jumped down onto the tracks, walking toward me with a dead look in his eyes. “Why won’t you die, Haruto? Why do you resist? Just disappear. I can’t stand seeing anyone near Aoi except me.”
“Stop… what you’re doing is a crime!” I pleaded weakly. “You can date her—I won’t tell anyone. I’ll pretend this never happened. Please stop!”
He didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled a pen from his pocket and stabbed me in the neck—eight times.
Then, as I gasped for air, he took a compass from his pencil box and drove it into my eyes.
My vision turned black.
That was the end of Haruto Kisaragi.
When I opened my eyes again, I was surrounded by clouds and golden light. Is this… heaven?
But instead of peace, I found myself before a colossal figure radiating divine energy.
“I see,” the being said in a deep voice. “Another soul from Japan. Due to the ongoing war between the gods and demons, the Japanese god is… unavailable. So you’ll meet me instead—I am Todopoderoso, the Destroyer of Gods.”
I clenched my fists. “Don’t give me that excuse. If you’re a god, tell me—does a human life mean nothing to you?!”
Todopoderoso frowned. “Watch your tone, child. But… you’re not wrong. The battle between gods and demons caused chaos, and your death was an accident I’ll take responsibility for.”
“Accident?” I shouted. “I was murdered by my friend! And you call that an accident!?”
He sighed. “Enough. I will let you choose the world of your next life. Consider it my atonement.”
He raised three glowing orbs before me.
“The first world,” Todopoderoso said, “is one where only women exist. You can enjoy yourself however you wish.”
I glared. “Are you some kind of pervert, old man?”
He coughed awkwardly. “Ahem. The second world—you’ll be reborn as a slime. A fun, free existence.”
“Definitely a pervert,” I muttered.
He frowned. “Fine, then. The third world is one I’ll choose. A place far from both gods and demons—a world where fate itself is unstable. That’s where you’ll go.”
Before I could reply, light surrounded me.Todopoderoso’s final words echoed:“Haruto Kisaragi, may your next life be more interesting than your last.”
And then… everything went white.
