Chapter 1:
Surviving Beltane
“Come on, man, hurry up!” Cayrein said as he pulled at my sleeve. “The sun’s already set, and they only allow so many in!”
“Yeah! Yeah!” Blaht added, tugging at the other as he aided in my abduction. “We need to hurry or we’ll get locked out!”
“Jax, come on!” The first begged. “Stop being such a wet blanket. It’s going to be crayyy! The three of us are going to see so many elf tiddies.”
Together, the two pulled me through the streets of Faeline, the Elven capital that sat just beyond the edge of the southernmost continent and right where the world met the realm of Faerie.
On any given night, this city was aglow with bioluminescent plants as the smell of sweet mead wafted through the streets. But one night a year, from the moment the sun set till it rose the next morn, new sights and sounds and smells permeated this world.
The Festival of Beltane, taking hold between the first Equinox and Solstice of the year, was a ritualistic holiday celebrated by the people of Faeline on behalf of their Faerie kin. It was a feast of carnal pleasure, filled with sacrifices of flesh to celebrate an inebriation of the soul.
“Uhhnnnggg-yeah! Yeahhh!” Moans echoed from the open window of a nearby house. “Nnnggg—harder!”
My vision shifted up, spotting a plump, glistening bosom bouncing in the amber torchlight. The elven woman, her face aglow with ecstasy, gripped the window frame as she cried out into the night. Behind her, a half-orc figure thrust with rhythmic pulses before reaching out and taking her by the long ochre hair. With a cry of elation, they disappeared back into the room, and the moans intensified.
“Ohhh, dude.” Blaht licked his goblinoid lips, having experienced the same moment as I. “Oh man, I can’t wait to get used like that.”
“We won’t get that opportunity to if Jax doesn’t stop dragging his feet!” Cayrein scolded, turning to me, turquoise eyes staring at me down his vulpine snout. “Hurry, dude!”
“Guys, jus-just go on without me.” I stuttered nervously, the smell of sweat and pleasure beginning to overwhelm my Felis senses. “I-I can find my way home.”
“Oh, no you don’t!”
Both gripped my arms firmly and continued to pull me along.
My boots dragged along the cobblestone road as my heart raced. It beat against my chest loud enough to offset the thudding of headboards against walls. But with every home we passed, my sensitive feline ears still heard them.
Moans of pleasure. Cries for more. Praising Gods and Devils and Faerie alike.
This was a holy place to some. And tonight, they sang their divine hymns aloud for all to hear.
This is supposed to go on all night? I thought, separating my soul from my body as friend and foe, dragged me forward to my destiny.
But…how? I don’t understand how anyone could—
“Dude, there it is!” Cayrein yelled out as we rounded a final bend in the road. “Moonkissed House!”
Their pace quickened as they dragged me even faster towards the gargantuan banyan tree. The closer we drew, the more I began to see. It was not just a tree, but a collection of dozens of structures fixed together by root and branch and bridge. All under a single canopy of dense foliage.
Even from a block away, I could see bodies moving along the exterior. Some figures stood with drinks, engaging in casual conversations, while others became one with the bark of the tree as the throes of passion consumed them.
And the sound. The sound. The cacophony of cheers, and elated cries, and moans of pleasure that came from this ‘promised land’ rang in my ears and sent my heart racing.
But before I could do anything to fix this feeling. Before I could slip the grasp of my companions. Before I could use my feline talents to slink away and find a path home. Before the night could take me. Change me. We were there. In line to enter.
“Oh, no you don’t!” Blaht scolded me, feeling as I tugged myself free to run. “You’re not getting away from us! All for one!”
“And one for all!” Cayrein responded.
Both of them grabbed me firmly and thrust me to the front of our group in line and into someone.
“Guy’s stop, I don’t—”
“Hey, watch it.” The person before me spoke, turning to look back.
She was a tall woman, a few years my senior, dressed in a sheer white tunic. Beneath it, there was not much for clothing, simply scraps of cloth concealing the most erotic spots of her curvy body.
I took her in at that moment. From top to bottom and everything between. My heart was racing as I admired her soft, caramel features and the cinnamon colour of her curly pixie cut. Atop her head, a pair of feline ears poked out, twitching at the sounds of the orgy we approached.
“Wait your turn, kid.” She snapped, giving me a once-over. “Do your parents know you’re here, little cub?”
“We’re old enough!” Cayrein replied quickly, peaking a head over my shoulder and taking in her body. “For your information, we’re students at Vale—”
“Didn’t ask.” She snipped back, glancing at me once more before turning around, her tail whipping at my face.
“Meow,” Blaht whispered, poking around my side. “Kitty got claws. And daddy-like.”
“Guys, I’m sorry, I—I shouldn’t be here.” I stammered as I tried once more to free myself from their grasp and the line.
But both gripped me firmly.
“No way, bro!” Cayrein announced as he pointed forward. “We’re almost there! See?”
My head shifted, looking back to the tree that now loomed overhead. We were indeed almost at the front. The smell of lust was now thick in the air and playing with my senses.
“Okay, when we get in, let’s go straight to the bar and grab one of the elixirs,” Blaht added, and I watched as he ran a hand through his greasy black hair, licking his lips excitedly. “Those will help us get into the groooove—”
“Next.” The dwarven bouncer called, and I felt my friends pushing me forward.
The felis before me stepped up to the leather-clad figure and extended a hand. I watched as she received a technicolour stamp to her wrist that pulsed with magic. Then, taking another step forward, a second figure greeted her, bestowing upon her head a thin crown with a talisman affixed to it.
Stepping beyond an ornate threshold, the woman looked back once more to give me a derisive glance before disappearing up a spiralling staircase and away from view.
“Next.” The bouncer called again, and I felt my friends push me forward aggressively.
I stumbled into the man, whose thick, brown beard was braided down to his broad, bare chest. Looking up, I stared into the riveted leather mask and the confused glance he gave me.
“How old are you, kid?” He asked.
“Ei-eighteen?” I stammered, looking back at my friends and the long line behind them. “B-But I-I can go—”
“Nah, you’re good. You just look young. You're gonna be a hit.”
He took my hand and, flipping it over, stamped my wrist. I now felt the pulse of warm magic I had seen before wash over my body as he motioned me forward.
I trembled as I stepped ahead. Music echoed down the staircase before me, intermixed with cries of ecstasy and the stench of pleasure.
Now, I stood before an elven woman also not much older than myself. She wore a sheer, rose coloured negligee with nothing beneath it.
Y-Yikes!
Suddenly, I found myself so transfixed by the tender, blossoming buds beneath the fabric that I nearly missed the words she spoke to me, only catching the end.
“…until it's ready to join.”
“I’m s-sorry, what?” I stammered as she leaned over, placing the crown and talisman on my forehead.
It was too big for me and immediately began to fall off to the side.
Grabbing at it, I directed my eyes away from the elven bosom, up to angelic beauty they belonged.
“C-could you repeat that?”
She smiled, leaning over. My heart began to race as her lips met the side of my face before drawing close to my ear.
“It keeps the talisman on its forehead…until it's ready to join.” She whispered as her hand wrapped around my back and gently guided me towards the steps.
“O-Okay,” I muttered, turning to look back at my friends.
But they were not coming. As I anxiously stared at them, they argued with the bouncer who held them at bay.
“Sorry, folks, we’re full.” He announced, adjusting himself to keep them back as the archway I had stepped through began to close. “Find somewhere else to party.”
“Jax!” Cayrein and Blaht cried out to me before the trunk of the tree closed, locking me inside the stairwell.
