Chapter 3:

Still hangin' out, 2 years on

Hangin out with the gyarus

Time, sure flies. It hardly feels like anything happened, yet here we are, 2 years later. I've graduated high school, yet now, I know not what to do. I'm still friends with the gyarus, but there are times I wish I could take the next step towards a life of happiness. Maybe I'd ask out Hanabi, no, Mirai, ahg, Kazamatsuri and Ai are cute too!

But in my dreams... harem.

"Of course you'd dream of something like that," Hanabi smirked as she smacked me on the head.

"Polygamy's illegal, but only for now. We elect a bunch of harem-crazed otaku, boom, harems legal," Kazamatsuri grinned.

"I believe harems were the norm back in the day. Why'd society ever fall out of favor with them?" Mirai pondered aloud.

"Uh, maybe because the best love is only between two people, not 3 or 9?" Ai glared.

"Then how about we all live together, even if we don't all marry?" I suggested.

"Uh, I have a boyfriend."

"I have my eyes on a man too," Mirai chuckled.

"Girl-friend," Kazamatsuri smirked.

"Hanabi?" I nervously asked.

"Single... or not, depending on your answer," Hanabi playfully smiled.

"I'll marry you!"

"A bit of a jump, but guess I'm not single anymore."

"When we make babies?"

"Hmm, for that, dream it up, but maybe in a few years, it'll be a thing."

And just as she said that, the author guy popped his head out of a bush. "Spoiler! They marry, have babies, and live happily ever after. The others have families and babies too. There, now you don't need to wait a whole year to find out if they have babies."

"Well he sure sounds cranky," Mirai frowned as the author vanished back into the bush.

"Probably just stressed about his daily upload self-imposed quota. You remember what he had Muramasa Jouzu do back at Streama festivalen?" Kazamatsuri smiled.

"Yeah, he had him Deus ex machina us all out, but after leaving a caveat stating that he did it after a bunch of stuff happened off-screen, so he'd be able claim that he could go back and add that stuff in as a flashback tale anytime. That fucking author. Can't he actually write and finish that thing proper?" Ai huffed.

"Well, he was kind of swamped with contests shortly after starting it. It's not entirely his fault," Mirai chuckled.

"But hey, at least we know we join the Happy end club. See you tomorrow, Jouzou!" Hanabi waved.

"Yeah," I sheepishly smiled as I waved back. "Wait, can't we all hang out at my place? I've got extra rooms."

The gyarus all turned to each other before nodding in approval.

Score!

That night, we had lots of fun. It really is worth it to have friends. Friends make life so much more fun, and one might even be your friend for life.

The author might not be willing to make this series anymore than an annual little Easter egg update kind of story for Streamer Royale, actually, no, he's going to end it with that cop out ending. But, I have no doubt he'll at least continue to throw us chapters annually here, which is all I could dream for.
