Chapter 2:

Waking up from a deep slumber!

You were always 5cm away.

I woke up from the deepest sleep I’d ever had. Never slept better.
But something felt off. The smell of the room, the air—it was strange.

As I sat up, I tried to climb down from my bed, but instead I tumbled to the floor.
“Huh? How did I fall? My bed isn’t that high…”

Before I could figure it out, my mom came rushing in.
“Aron! Are you okay? What happened?” she cried, running straight toward me.

I froze. Since when does Mom come running whenever I get hurt?
It felt like… at least ten years since that happened.

She knelt down, hugging me tight. “Are you hurt anywhere?”
Her voice shook with worry, but that wasn’t the part that scared me.

She was tall.
So much taller than I remembered.

“Mom… how did you get so tall?” I asked, my voice trembling.

She laughed, brushing my hair back. “I didn’t get tall, silly. You got small. One day, my little angel, you’ll be as tall as me.”

Angel?
Why the hell was she calling me that?

I stumbled to the mirror, and my heart nearly stopped.
I was smaller. I’d shrunk.

I glanced at the calendar. July 27, 2000.

“Remember,” Mom said softly, “today’s your birthday. Be a good boy, okay?”

My hands shook. My voice cracked. “What year is it?”

She gave me a puzzled look. “What’s wrong? Did your sleep make you forget? It’s the year 2000.”

I felt my stomach drop. My body trembled.
I really… time-traveled?
Back to my past.
Back to my birthday.
