Chapter 1:
Immortal Moon
In a shrine somewhere in Tokyo. A teenage girl with long silver hair tied into pigtails and blue eyes wearing a black cloak over a kimono that's she wearing to give herself a low profile to avoid unwanted attention is currently being surrounded by Shrine maidens.
"You there, the silver-haired girl." one of the shrine maidens called out to the teenage girl that currently has no idea of what's happening nor why she's being surrounded by them.
The silver-haired girl Yui's hands started shaking in fear as to why this is happening to her. "You're a descendant of Tamamo no Mae, aren't you?" another shrine maiden inquired holding a talisman in one hand.
'I really should have listened to the villager elders when they told me to not go near shrines or temples....' Yui thought jumping from rooftop to rooftop of the houses near the said place in attempt to get away from her pursuers.
Suddenly she hears a sound that sounds like something cracking from behind her...
It's the shrine maidens, they managed to free themselves from her magic and is now running after her.
"Oh come on, You gotta be kidding me!" Yui raised her voice trying to find a place to hide.
Yui suddenly notices that she now has fox-like ears on top of her head and a fox tail on her back. she freaks out for a second because of this but she remembers that Tamamo no Mae's- her Mother's Myth told that Descendants of Tamamo no Mae grow fox ears and a fox tail when she turns 16 years of age in fox years, around 1.8 years old in human years.
"I just turned sixteen yesterday, so that's why i have these now... I almost forgot that the village elders told me about this when I was ten." She murmured to herself still trying to run away.
"You're not getting away from us!" one of the maidens raised her voice trying to throw a talisman at her to bind her.
In defense, Yui uses a barrier to block the girl's attack but fails. The slip of paper hit her on the leg and she has now fallen over.
The maidens approached her making sure that she's been bound properly, when suddenly-
A man wearing an outfit that priests at a Shinto shrine would usually wear and spoke to Ariella in a calm way: "Would you like to work for the Earth's Immortal Division?"
'What is this guy talking about? Is he not gonna seal me? Wait, Immortal Division??' Yui thought staring at the man with a confused look on her face.
The man then continued: "We won't treat you as a threat if you do, and we'll also stop going after you. So, how about it?" the man smiles at Yui.
Ariella suddenly remembers that her mother-- or rather Tamamo no Mae was killed by Miura-no-Suka with an arrow on the Plain of Nasu by the order of Emperor Konoe.
Yui who was born from Tamamo no Mae's lingering feelings after she died now has to now make her decision...
Will she decide to accept the offer or will she let those people seal her?
'They'll seal me off if I don't agree, I don't wanna join that association. Should I try and break the binding spell? No, that'd be risky... I'll probably die if I fail to do that...' Yui thought.
The man finished by saying: "It's not really a bad deal and You and I benefit from it too."
After a few seconds of thinking, Yui made her decision...
"Ok, I'll join thy association..."
After the priest heard her reply he told the maidens to release the binding spell that was keeping her from getting away.
"You made the right choice, we need someone like you in our side." The man reached his hand towards Yui to help her get up with a friendly smile on his face.
Yui reaches for his hand and thought. 'His hand is warm...' After she finally grasping it.
~~~
A few days after the incident at the Shinto shrine...
The silver-haired Yui is now waiting in the reception room of the Earth's Immortal Management Office Building...
'I can't believe I almost got sealed...' Yui lets out a sigh as she plays with her fingernails.
A man wearing Japanese traditional clothing with dark red hair reaching his shoulders enters the room, he notices Yui's presence and approaches her. "So you're Tamamo no Mae's Descendant, eh?" The man looks at her with interested eyes while putting his face close to hers.
'Who is this man?' Yui asked herself feeling awkward at how close his face was to hers.
The man smiled. "I can see that you've already reached the age of sixteen in fox years. Therefore I'll appoint you as the new Division Leader of this association." He cracks a laugh as he finishes his sentence seeing that he can see fox ears creating bumps on the hood of her cloak.
Yui suddenly got ticked off at the man's attitude said to herself: 'What's so funny, you human.'
The man immediately noticed her expression changed to being calm and composed to a face of someone that just got ticked off and said: "Calm down, we're allies." before clearing his thoughts and continuing: "My name's Hideyoshi and you don't really need to know my last name since you're probably not interested to that anyway." He then shrugs.
He face turns serious. "Now, please follow me." He beckons Yui as he walks into the hallway of the place.
They enter a room that looks like a room that an exorcist would stay in. complete with tatami flooring and sliding doors like any bedroom that you'll see in a traditional Japanese house, There are also some books on a bookshelf that's beside the door leading back to the said hallway and a Door leading to a zen garden.
Yui looked really impressed at how nice the room that they entered was and Hideyoshi just smiles at her reaction before saying: "This is where you'll be staying, and by the way, this building is not just the HQ for this division but also a dorm."
Yui's blue crystal-like eye's lit up as she heard the man's statement.
'Mom and Dad are probably gonna be worried sick I don't come back for a while...' Yui had thought considering she's probably not gonna be back home for a little while.
Hideyoshi then continued: "We'll also provide you with food so... Be sure to work hard" He lets out a slight chuckle and left Yui alone in the aforementioned room.
Yui sits on the floor trying to calm herself down from how annoyed she got at that man and starts to ponder about what Hideyoshi had told her in the reception area. 'He told me that his giving the job of a Division Leader but... what does that mean? I know what a leader is though...' She takes off her cloak's hood that was covering her head exposing her fox-like ears that just appeared a few days prior.
After a few moments of thinking about what that position she was given meant or what it was... She hears knocking on the door that leads back to the hallway.
She turns attention to the said door at tilts her head in curiosity, and she speaks up to answer whoever was knocking. "Who's there?" She asked feeling slightly alarmed by the knocking.
The door then opens...
It was the priest from the other day that offered her a job, he smiles at her the same that he did when he offered the job to her and says. "You look like you're already feeling at home."
'It's the priest from the other day... What does this human want from me?' She tilts her head once again.
Yui really wanting to know as to why was there then asks: "What does thou want from me, human?"
The priest enters the room and closes the sliding door behind him before proceeding to sit in front of her. "Human?" he laughs at her way of addressing him and continued: "My name's not human, It's Hideo." The man that looks like he's in his twenties corrected the Fox humanoid.
Yui started feeling confused asks again but with a serious look on her face: "What does thou want from thou." Her eyes lit up as if she was using magic.
The priest loses his composure for a moment thinking she was going to put a curse on him, but quickly recovers from it."Firstly, I need you to calm down. I'm not here to cause harm to you so relax." He started trying to calm the serious-looking fox girl down.
There was a few seconds of silence between the two before he continued: "You don't trust us, humans, now do you?"
"Nay, Thy have killed thou mother Tamamo no Mae." She answered still speaking in an "old English" kind of way her eyes still lit up.
