The Old god of Space was a neutral god. It did not like taking sides, when the other gods came to it during the war of old, it hid away in a space only it can access. But when the War reached its climax, it couldn’t just stand by and watch as an entire continent sank. So it warped the space around the entirety of the Lawless Lands, it shifted it away, erecting a distortion to keep the two lands apart, to keep them from ever meeting again, until the time was right, or, until a certain Princess showed up.
