Obituary: Hugh M. Carmichael
by Andrea Vásquez Flores
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Hugh Carmichael, a scholar and community member at Hawthorne University.
On April 8th, 2018, Hugh was found drowned in Whitstone Creek by a staff member of the Eastwick College. Authorities have determined his death to be an accident, resulting from a fall.
That is all.
A rising scholar in Hawthorne’s Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences, Hugh had been the recipient of the prestigious Harrington-Schmidt Research Fellowship. Before his unfortunate passing, he had been offered the Departmental Honors Research Grant for his promising project concerning the Reproducibility Crisis in the Natural Sciences. He had been a close friend of many, a treasured son and nephew, and a deeply valued colleague.
We mourn his passing, and offer our deepest condolences to his friends and family.
