Chapter 3:
REFLECTION BOY
"This story starts with a loving married couple, the beauty of their bond, and the love they shared through all the good times and the bad ones."
He caressed her head while she remained silent, her eyes fixed on the boy.
"After some time the married couple was blessed with children."
"Dad, I am bored; can I go?" She tried to pull out, but she was too weak.
"Come on, this is a good story..." He smiled faintly. "They were blessed with a pair of lovely twins, a boy and a girl. The girl was energetic, loving and sweet. The boy was a little handful, but he was also a good kid."
She struggled to escape once more while he continued.
"They all had a lot of fun together; they all loved each other. The twins frequently argued but mostly got along."
"Dad, this is a boring story...."
The mirror boy's voice overlapped hers; she glanced at her father. He didn't seem to have noticed.
Tears shimmered in her father's eyes, and he looked down at her.
"Dad?" She reached out to his face.
"Then one day," his voice trembled. "They decided to go out for vacations..." He tightened his arms around her, crying.
"Dad...what happened?"
The boy's voice echoed as he continued the story. "Both of the children had a place in mind. They argued until the sister gave up, and they decided to go where he wanted to go...."
"No," she whispered. "They went where she wanted to go..." she spoke with darkness cast on her eyes.
Her father's grip loosened; he blankly stared at her while she continued. "On their way there he...he died...he died...."
"He didn't die!" The boy's voice cracked out of the mirror.
"Shut up!" She yelled and staggered to the mirror. Clasping her trembling hands on the cold glass. "You are not him... You don't know... you are just my reflection!"
"Riku?" Her father tried to stand up, but his legs only trembled.
"YES, I am your reflection..." He gave her a faint smile. "I am you."
"No!...No!" She clutched her head, wobbling away from the mirror.
"Look for yourself..." The boy's form wavered; his usual clothes faded, leaving her reflection behind.
"That...That can't be me...?" Her knees buckled, and she collapsed on the floor. "That is you, not me."
"Riku?" Her father slowly dragged himself onto the floor. He crawled closer to her with his hands, pulling his legs forward. He hugged Riku from behind.
"He didn't die...she died..."
Riku stared at the mirror. At her own reflection. Pale skin, dishevelled hair, dark circles cast under eyes and an unfit girl's school uniform.
A boy – the reflection boy.
Riku's lips quavered. "She died, Aiko died...
