Chapter 2:

First Day of Adventures

A Gal and A Recluse in Another World

After we took that picture, I noticed something strange.

Koharu's phone… was still on. The battery hadn't dropped even a percent.

She looked at the screen and frowned.

"Fujimoto, why does my phone have an infinite battery life?" she asked.

"Hold on, let me test something." I closed my eyes and murmured the name of my ability.

“ Hidden Observatory.”

The air seemed to vibrate, and a magical window appeared before me.

Name: Yui Koharu

Class: Heroine

Level: 1

Attack: 100

Defense: 100

Intelligence: 103

HP: 116

Speed: 120

Magic Attack: 140

Magic Defense: 100

Skill: Feelings — “This skill consists of creating wonders from your feelings.”

“ See ?” I said , pointing to the floating text.

“And you still think your power is bad?” I said.

She crossed her arms, sulking.

"Of course I do! That sentence doesn't make any sense. 'Creating wonders with feelings'? What does that mean?" she asked.

Did coming to another world make her slower?

—Koharu, think with me. — I said , laughing lightly.

"The phone had no battery, right? But you wanted to keep using it so much that your power reacted, " I finished .

She blinked, confused.

“So you ’re saying that… I wanted him to have energy so much that I ended up creating an infinite battery?!” she asked sullenly.

— Exactly. — I replied.

Her face instantly turned red.

"You idiot! Are you saying I'm addicted to my cell phone?!" he shouted , shaking me by the shoulders.

— N-no, that's not it! — I protested , half laughing, half trying not to fall.

After letting go of me, she took a deep breath and changed the subject.

— Okay… now I want to see your status. — I said.

I nodded.

“ Hidden Observatory.”

Name: Fujimoto Satoru

Class: Hero

Level: 1

Attack: 65

Defense: 50

Intelligence: 88

HP: 45

Speed: 100

Magic Attack: 60

Magic Defense: 60

Ability: Hidden Observatory — “Allows you to see anyone's status and abilities. It also reveals lies and reveals the nature of their soul.”

Koharu made a worried face.

"With those numbers, you'd die if a pigeon looked at you the wrong way. We need to level up soon," she said, quite rightly.

— I agree, — he said , crossing his arms.

"According to the map, there's a beginner's dungeon near here," she said , taking the scroll Kaiou gave us.

— Let's go there. — she said confidently.

— Now yes, I like the plan. — I smiled .

— I've played a lot of RPGs to know what to do in a dungeon . — I was confident.

She arched an eyebrow.

"I just hope you don't think it's a real game," she said worriedly.

The sun was already beginning to set when we reached the dungeon entrance.

The air was cold and damp, and the ground was covered in dark moss that glowed faintly.

As soon as we entered, there was a small room with a closed chest right in the center.

"Come on, Fujimoto!" Koharu said excitedly.

"There must be something to increase your level in there!" Koharu said confidently.

As she was getting ready to run, I grabbed her arm.

—Wait. This is too easy. Dungeons are dangerous. Let me test something first. — I said.

I picked up some rocks from the ground and started throwing them.

The first ones fell without effect.

— See? — she said .

" It's okay," Koharu said.

But something in the air bothered me.

A shiver ran down the back of my neck.

“Let’s get out of here,” I muttered.

“I have a bad feeling,” I continued muttering.

We left the room, and then I threw the last stone, straight into the chest.

The sound that came next made my blood run cold.

The chest opened into teeth.

From within, a giant carnivorous plant emerged, pink petals dripping with acidic slime.

“I knew it!” I yelled , pulling Koharu back.

" Dungeons are no joke. One mistake here and we're dead," I said.

The monster tried to reach her, but Koharu created a translucent energy wall.

The creature roared and backed away.

After a few coordinated attacks, we managed to escape through a side corridor.

We walked for a long time until something strange happened.

A chill ran through my body.

The hands began to tremble.

"Fujimoto, what's wrong?" Koharu asked , worried.

— This… this feeling… — I swallowed.

— It's the same thing I felt when I looked into Yumi's soul. — I said.

"What?" Koharu asked, not understanding the situation.

—It can't be… she's here. She's hiding with me. — I said desperately.

I pulled Koharu and we hid behind a stone pedestal.

A few seconds later, footsteps echoed.

It was her.

Mayumi Yumi

Alone.

“ Hidden Observatory.”

Name: Mayumi Yumi

Class: Heroine

Level: 3

Attack: 129

Defense: 89

Intelligence: 149

HP: 105

Speed: 109

Magic Attack: 109

Magic Defense: 143

Ability: ??? - ???

My heart raced.

“This is absurd…”

"She's only at level 3 and already has stats almost equal to Koharu's at level 1. None of the other students come close ."

Koharu noticed my gaze.

"What's wrong? You look scared." Koharu asked me.

Before I could answer, Yumi stopped in the middle of the room and spoke to herself.

—I still haven't found those two worms… — he whispered.

"They said they were here, but it seems they tricked me," Yumi continued whispering.

Then she smiled.

A smile that made my skin crawl.

"No matter where you hide… I'll kill you, Fujimoto and Koharu," Yumi said .

Koharu held her breath.

Yumi turned her back and disappeared into the darkness.

We waited a few minutes before coming out of hiding.

"That must be Hiroshi's doing," I muttered .

“He must have sent her after us,” I continued muttering.

Koharu shook her head.

— No. Hiroshi is too dumb for that. — Koharu replied.

She looked at the floor, serious.

"Yumi isn't controlled by him. That's the kingdom's own doing," Koharu said .

— What do you mean? — I asked.

Kaiou 's room . This place is corrupt. Anyone who interferes with the king or queen's plans loses their minds. And you, Fujimoto… your power is a threat," Koharu said .

I remained silent.

She was right.

My gift revealed lies. And lies were the most abundant in that place.

“When my power activated in the Hall of Heroes,” he said, remembering

"I realized Kaiou lied. He said we would return home if we defeated the Demon King. But it was a lie." I continued.

Koharu looked serious. Then, with a wave of her hands, two cloaks appeared.

"Let's use this to disguise ourselves. Then we can change our appearance," Koharu said .

slime- type creatures .

We leveled up a few times, but nothing too high, just enough to breathe a sigh of relief.

As the sun was setting, we came into view of Atorin, a small town surrounded by cracked stone walls.

A place of weak people, rejected by the rest of the kingdom.

The kind of place where no one asks questions.

We entered an old tavern with a crooked sign.

Behind the counter, a short lady in a dirty apron greeted us with a gap-toothed smile.

"Good evening, children. I'm Toro, owner of this place. If you want a room, I'll charge in advance," said the old woman.

Koharu took some coins out of her purse and paid.

We went upstairs.

The room had two beds, a cracked mirror, and the smell of old wood.

Koharu looked at me and said:

— Sit down, — she said.

— Huh ? — I didn't understand.

She created a magic pair of scissors in her hand.

"I'm going to cut your hair. Your 'school hero' look is so obvious." She replied.

I froze.

— What?! — I still didn't understand.

— Hurry up. — She smiled.

"It won't hurt," Koharu said .

I gave in. I closed my eyes and let her cut.

When he was finished, I picked up the cracked mirror.

—It was… great. — I admitted .

She smiled slightly.

— Now it's my turn. — she said smiling.

Koharu created a translucent barrier around us.

"That way no one will see us changing clothes," Koharu said.

When the glow faded, I was paralyzed.

She had short hair, dyed light yellow with small red streaks, and wore a heart-shaped shirt and a gray skirt.

—Ko … Koharu … — I murmured.

She winked teasingly.

"What's up, Fujimoto? Do you like my new look?" she asked.

— I… don't know what to say. — I replied.

"So you thought it was ugly? Was it the short hair? The color? Or the clothes?" she asked.

I shook my head awkwardly.

— No. It's just... I was remembering all the ways I've seen you. And I realized you look beautiful either way. — I said, a little embarrassed.

She laughed, blushing slightly.

"You can be cute sometimes, right?" she said with a beautiful smile.

He turned to the bed.

— Good night, idiot. — said Koharu.

— Good evening, Koharu. — I said.

We lay down. The room was silent, only the distant sound of the tavern.

For the first time since I came into this world, I was able to close my eyes in peace.

Tomorrow, we would truly begin to understand what it meant to survive in Asferio .

The next morning, Koharu and I decided to talk to the tavern owner.

When we went downstairs, we found Toro, the lady in the wrinkled apron who was manning the counter, cleaning glasses with a worn cloth.

“Mrs. Toro,” Koharu said politely.

"Are there any quests available? Anything we can do to gain experience?" Koharu asked .

The old woman sighed, leaning her elbows on the counter.

— Unfortunately not, girl. Almost no one has the courage to leave the city. — he replied the old woman.

— Why? — I asked .

"A large red dragon has been seen flying over the mountains. Rumor has it it targeted Atorin… no one knows why," Toro replied.

Koharu crossed her arms and gave me that determined look that always makes me afraid.

"Did you hear that, Satoru ? This is a perfect opportunity for us to level up!" Koharu said confidently.

— Yeah… or to die burned — I replied, half serious, half ironically.

But the truth is, she was right.

— Okay. Let's try. — I said.

We went out into the fields outside the city.
