Chapter 3: Nature

First, Mr. Forbirinto gave Hillary nine Nature scenes and a magnifying glass and said to her, "Here're nine scenes of Nature where you can solve riddles and find hidden objects with this magnifying glass." And then he asked her, "Are you ready to solve riddles in all nine Nature scenes?" "Yes, Mr. Forbirinto!" said Hillary. "Very good!" said Mr. Forbirinto. "Now it's time to start with the first scene of Nature." "Thank you, Mr. Forbirinto," said Hillary. So Hillary began to solve riddles in all nine Nature scenes. First, in the first scene of Nature, Insects, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a frog, a starfish, a star, an orange butterfly, a dragonfly jar, pipe cleaner wings, a grass-hopping bug, a white egg in a nest, earth that's been dug, THORAX, a bug on its back, a green caterpillar, a beetle, a jack, three nibbled leaves, two painted eggs, orange wings back in place, two inches of legs, an umbrella, a blue butterfly, a fly on its sketch, a shoelace to tie, a heart-shaped leaf, a squirrel, a bone, a hairy spider and a rectangular stone, and she did. And she also used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a yellow toy ladybug for the first time, and she did, too. Second, in the second scene of Nature, Beach, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 and the magnifying glass to find an egg shell, a wind-up tail, two birds in flight, some sand in a pail, the number one, a shy turtle's head, a surfboard, a green eye, a shell that's red, a front wheel, a fossilized fish, a white sail on a boat, a blue rock on a dish, octopus arms, a shimmering shell, a small tractor scoop and a silvery bell, and she did. Third, in the third scene of Nature, Fruits and Vegetables, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a turtle, some seeds on a plate, a worm in an apple, a knife, a skate, a strawberry slice, two eyes on a face, two ripe tomatoes, a red shoelace, a kiwi, a lemon, a pear, a juicy fruit mouth, two carrots, a chair, corn to be popped, a star, two bees, a tangerine peel and a pod with three peas, and she did. And she also used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a yellow toy ladybug for the second time, and she did, too. Fourth, in the fourth scene of Nature, Leaves, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 and the magnifying glass to find a moth wing, two owl eyes, an N, a hole that's been dug, the tip of a pen, a shamrock, an ant, three dried brown leaves, a green caterpillar, a shirt with no sleeves, a worm, a nibble of bread, an acorn, a shovel, a berry that's red, a spider, antlers, a tail of a cat, a stem of an apple and a brim of a hat, and she did. Fifth, in the fifth scene of Nature, Desert, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a brown lizard, a camel, a key, an arrowhead in the sand, a globe, a three, the shape of a bird, a bar of white soap, a tumbleweed, a telescope, a bucket, a toy airplane, her name, an antler, a plastic key chain, the front of a car, two maracas to shake, a hat on a cactus and a slithering snake, and she did. Sixth, in the sixth scene of Nature, Snow, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 and the magnifying glass to find a penguin, a polar bear nose, a drum, a pearl, two shiny black crows, the eye of a needle, a top of a tree, a blue bird's beak, an old-fashioned key, a snow pea, a smiling sun, a spider, a screw, the number one, a scoop on a tractor, footprints in the snow, four acorns, a present and two fives on a doe, and she did. Seventh, in the seventh scene of Nature, Nuts, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a pinwheel, one more seed in a cart, four eyes, a pine cone, a black and gold dart, a spoonful of berries, a pod with one seed, two acorns, a marble, a fuzzy white weed, an oak tree, a cart that's been packed, two green and brown leaves, a nut to be cracked, a round wooden toy, thread used to sew, a metal nut and five nuts in the row, and she did. Eighth, in the eighth scene of Nature, Rocks, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 and the magnifying glass to find CENT, a chalk letter T, four golden beads, a flag for the sea, five claws on a foot, a nose on a rock, a blue and white marble, a piece of green chalk, an eraser, the wings of a fly, a clasp of a bracelet, a dot for an I, a ten cent face, a bug in the sand, a stone arrowhead and a ring for a hand, and she did. And finally, ninth, in the ninth scene of Nature, Flowers, Hillary used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a gold string, a bee in a bloom, a daffodil bud, a bird, a broom, a soft pussy willow, a rose petal in place, a penny, a thimble, a flower face, a brown leaf, some shiny red lips, a butterfly wing, two paperclips, a daffodil on a page, a home by the sea, a honeycomb, some bark from a tree, an earthworm, a white spider mum, two dark purple petals, a little toy drum, the last petal on the page, a fern, a plane, a sunflower seed and a striped candy cane, and she did. And she also used her Riddle Solver Ray 3,000 to find a yellow toy ladybug for the third time, and she did, too. When Hillary finished solving the riddles in all nine Nature scenes, Mr. Forbirinto came her and said, "Well done, you completed all nine Nature scenes!" So Mr. Forbirinto gave Hillary a green Nature badge. "Thanks, Mr. Forbirinto," said Hillary. "You're welcome," said Mr. Forbirinto.
