Chapter 9:

Chapter 9: Super Full Power

Howl: Finale

Ferral got up, chuckling a little. “So, you’ve unlocked Super Full Power, too, huh? Figures.” Leona tilted her head, confused. “Is THAT what you named it? Well, that sounds stupid.” Ferral looked offended, “HEY! It’s cool! But, I wouldn’t expect you to know what cool was!” “No, the hell it’s not. It’s childish.” “NO! Our awakened state was supposed to be the pinnacle of our power. Going beyond that makes it ‘super.’” “You’re a moron.” The two started arguing back and forth while Dr. Atlas watched from afar. Confused. “Wow, they sure bicker like siblings.” He half-chuckled.

“It doesn’t really matter,” Ferral said, “I’m going to kill you to wipe away the rest of my past.” He got ready to attack. Leona did the same, “Come on then. Try to kill me.” They darted to each other, quick as a flash. Their movements were almost blurry; only visible when one would deliver a solid blow to the other. Random splashes in the water or a rock getting destroyed. The normal human eye could never keep up with their speed. As their brawl continued, the boom of an incoming storm sounded through the sky as gray clouds began to roll in.

Leona kicked Ferral in the jaw, then grabbed his left arm and spun him around, throwing him toward the cliff. He crashed into the rocks, making a crater the shape of his body. Leona leaped into the air for an attack, but Ferral jumped out of the way, her fist slamming into the rock. Ferral drove his claws into the wall, stopping himself from falling, and scaled up toward Leona. She tried to remove her arm, but it was stuck. Then Feral grabbed Leona’s right leg with both hands, ripping her out. As the two fell toward the ground, Ferral spun her around, slamming her body against the cliff a few times before the two hit the water. Ferral got up, hopping backward to create distance. Leona burst from the water and charged at him.

They interlocked hands, slamming their heads against each other. As blood ran down their foreheads, Ferral cocked his body all the way back and smashed his head into Leona’s. She let go of his hands, stumbling back. Ferral kicked her stomach, and she slid further backward. He jumped into the air, putting his hands together and throwing them down against the back of Leona’s head. She impacted into the water, her body not moving. Ferral sighed. Panting, he raised his right hand, ready to deliver the final blow. As he thrusted his claws forward, in the blink of an eye, even too fast for Ferral to react to, Leoana punched his stomach.

He coughed out blood. She socked his lower jaw, launching him back and laying into the water. Ferral groaned as he tried to get up, staggering and falling back down. That last attack dazed him rather badly. Once he got back, Ferral looked at Leona and gasped in shock. Her eyes were no longer the same purple they were before. Now, they were a vibrant gold, and a sun-like pattern surrounded the pupils. “W-What is this?” Ferral muttered to himself. He barely had time to think before Leona seemingly vanished before reappearing in front of him. He only had a split second to block her attack, shielding his face with his forearms. The impact of her punch was so great, Ferral almost lost balance as he slid back. He uncovered his face, and Leona was gone again. He blocked a kick from his right, Leona behind him. Ferral swipped backward, but Leona was gone yet again.

He put up his guard, his eyes darting all over as Leona blitzed around the water. Her speed was way greater than before, but Ferral was able to keep up slightly. Using his other senses to gauge where she’d attack next. He spun around, blocking her punch, then grabbed her forearm and pulled her closer. Ferral sent a left hook that connected with the side of her face. She fell into the water, and as she started getting up, Ferral kicked her in the head. It sent her flying toward the land, slamming against a tree and hitting the ground. She got back, the two panting heavily. Leona groaned, covering her right eye in pain as she stumbled, resting her left arm against another tree. Her golden eyes were fading back to their purple color.

“Seems you can’t hold that for long, huh?” Ferral asked. Leona groaned, annoyed. “No, this power is incomplete. I was hoping to end this before the strain took over.” Ferral squinted his eyes, “Wait, did you say incomplete?” She nodded. “How long have you had this?” “Just discovered it about a week ago. Why?” Ferral smacked his forehead, “You mean to tell me you barely gained access to this new power, and the FIRST this you did was track me down?” “Well, when you say it like that, it sounds stupid.” “IT IS STUPID!” He ridiculed, “You did this EXACT same thing when you awoke!” She scoffed, “Oh, I’m sorry! Some of us can’t just adapt to everything in a few seconds.” “I can’t control that! That’s just a part of my DNA! You’re too bent on proving you’re better than me to think about the issues these forms can have on us!” Leona’s face turned a bright red, “I DON’T CARE ABOUT BEING BETTER THAN YOU!” She snapped, “I know I’m better than you! I don’t abandon everything like you! Everyone who cared!” “YOU THINK I CARE?!” Ferral barked back. The two started arguing again. Dr. Atlas still watching awkwardly.

As the two argued, Dr. Atlas walked over. “Not to break up the therapy session…” The two looked at him angrily, making him jump. “But uhhh…they’re still coming, and they’re almost here.” Ferral exhaled, turning back to Leona. “I don’t have time to deal with you. My village is in trouble.” “Huh? Village? You live out here?” Ferral began walking to Dr. Atlas. “It doesn’t concern you. Why don’t you just leave and come back when you’re not so stupid.” She growled, “I don’t want to hear about being stupid from you!” Ferral ignored her, positioning himself so Atlas could hop on his back again. Ferral bolted off, leaving Leona alone. She stood there in silence, lost in thought. After a few minutes, she ran after them, following their scent.
