Chapter 11:
My Dark Lord Roommate
“So what you’re saying, is that the old school house is haunted?”
“Yes.”
Well looks like that’s one mystery down-YEAH RIGHT! What the hell, so right next to our school is a haunted building! Forget about whether this is normal or not, I’m worried about our safety right now. Especially with what Eve said, the old school house is a ghost den. Meaning multiple spirits reside there, this isn’t good at all.
“Eve, is the current Silver Seal Academy going to be safe?”
“See for yourself.”
I looked back over to the schools, that’s when I noticed some strange spectral hand of dark energy coming out of the old academy. The hand began rushing towards the old school, I honestly thought the school was about to be destroyed. However, right before the hand could touch the school building, it bounced away from the school. It was like there was some kind of wall there keeping it from entering. While I began thinking about what I just saw Eve uttered something.
“...I see, so they have a barrier in place.”
“A barrier? Eve, what are you talking about?”
“Let’s not worry about it for now, I will say this though. You have a pretty interesting school Tom!”
Eve gave me a weird smirk, almost as if she was making fun of me for going to school near a haunted building. I sighed and decided to walk away, it’s best not to worry about it. Besides, I have school tomorrow so I shouldn’t stay up all night. As I thought that, Eve began asking me some stupid questions. One of them being how good the school food was, I simply ran off and left Eve in the dust.

“That’s all for today, class is dismissed.”
Everyone seemed happy now that the day was over, even Mr. Maxwell seemed chipper today. He even had enough energy to teach the class a lesson for the day, meanwhile I’m fighting sleep right now. I couldn’t sleep one wink last night, seeing the old school building terrified me. The only reason I’m awake right now is because we’re near the old school building. The ominous feeling of that school is forcing me to stay awake. I need to keep my eyes open in case something comes my way. I struggle to get on my feet and clumsily pack up my things. I then trudged out the door and down the hall, only to bump into a trash can on my way out. Who puts a trash can in-
“HEY JERK! WATCH WHE-WHY ARE YOU HERE!”
“Don’t tell me…!”
I immediately found myself waking up, only to spot Nina and Stacy in front of me. Crap, so that trash can I bumped into was-
“HEY YOU JUST THOUGHT I WAS AS SMALL AS A TRASHCAN, DIDN’T YOU!”
“...Sorry.”
“YOU JERK!”
My antics rewarded me with a slap on my right cheek, yep I’m fully awake now. After my brain got rattled, Stacy was about to check on me but Nina stopped her.
“We don’t have time for this Stacy, we got to meet up with the occult club!”
“The occult club? I didn’t know you guys were interested in that kinda stuff.”
“It’s not like that! You know what, since you’re interested, listen to this!”
Nina began pointing at me as she explained what they were up to.
“The occult club reached out to Stacy because they wanted her to bear witness to their exploration. Of course I’m coming along as backup support.”
“Exploration? Backup support? What is the occult club planning?”
“They're planning to slip through security and explore the old school house! Time to find out whether the old academy is haunted or not!”
I couldn’t help but get goosebumps over my body, they plan to go there! I can only imagine what would happen, after all the place is actually haunted! I got to stop them somehow, but I can’t tell them about mana. What should I do?
“Is everything okay Thomas?”
“Huh?”
Stacy noticed I was in deep thought and asked how I was doing, well here goes nothing!
“Hey do you guys have ro-”
“Absolutely not! The invite was only for us and not for losers like you! Sure you might’ve beat that jerk the other day, but you’re still the class loser.”
Well that hurts Nina, still there’s got to be something I can do. In that case how about this?
“Hey, do you guys really need to go?”
“Huh, what are you saying?”
“I’m saying you should sit this out, I got a bad feeling about this. What if the old school house actually is haunted?”
Nina went silent for a moment, and Stacy looked like she had chills. I don’t want to scare them, but they need to know how bad this is. I thought I was getting through to them, but then Nina started laughing.
“You really think you can stop us with an excuse like that, I swear there’s nothing I hate more than a loser trying to get in the way of my fun!”
“What! Listen, I'm only trying to help you! I’m not trying to-”
“Don’t act dumb with me, I’ve seen the way you’ve stared at Stacy! On top of that, you asked if you could join us at first! Just admit it, you want to cramp our style!”
Of all the stupid things to say, dammit Nina! I’m trying to save you two!
“Why are you acting like some puppy whenever you’re around us, is it because Stacy gave you some chocolate. Of course it is, you show a loser some courtesy and they start to get it twisted!”
“What!”
“I know, Stacy, you tell him yourself! Tell this loser to get lost!”
What! Don’t bring Stacy into all this, in the first place you’re probably the one who’s forcing her to go along with all this. I looked at Stacy, she was looking between me and Nina trying to figure out who to support. As I thought, she probably doesn’t want to be here either. Stacy’s eyes darted between the two of us, she was struggling to choose which side to follow. However…
“I’m sure we’ll be fine Thomas, thanks for worrying about us but we’re going.”
…In the end her friend won, putting their lives in danger.
“That’s what I thought, well we should get going now. Later, Loser boy Tom!”
“Hey Nina, that's rude!”
There goes Nina dragging along Stacy, Stacy looked back at me while she was being dragged away. I wanted to stop them, but Nina’s words bit at my skin. I know their walking to their demise right now, but all I want to see now is that little twerp get what she deserves. However, it’s not like I can blame her, she doesn’t have the abilities I do. Of course she’d think I’m just some loner trying to ruin her fun, still though. Can I really let this happen? Am I really just going to sit here and watch this?
****
“Can you believe that loser, the nerve of him, am I right Stacy?”
I’m so pissed off right now, how dare that loser try to meddle in our affairs. Still, why is Stacy so quiet?
“...Hey Nina?”
“Yeah, what’s up bestie?”
“Maybe Thomas was right, maybe we shouldn’t go to the old school building.”
What? Don’t tell me she has cold feet now, and she was so excited before. Damn that loser Tom for ruining our fun!
“Stacy just forget about that loser! Come on let’s go meet up with them, the plan’s probably about to be set in motion!”
“Wait Nina! Maybe we should think about this!”
I ignored my friend’s protest and dragged her along with me, I assumed it was due to that loser’s interference. If only I knew that Stacy’s pleas were a warning, and that I was about to make a big mistake.
