Chapter 5: No one's gonna know

Seeing the number that was twice as high as before, he was completely shocked.

He was already close to reaching the power of an E-rank awakener. That was a massive leap, considering how difficult it was to raise one's level.

Advancing usually required huge amounts of experience, along with the absorption of rare potions and treasures.

Yet with just his skill alone, he could already go toe to toe with an E-rank awakener. What made it even better was that his skill had no energy consumption at all, meaning he could use it as much as he wanted without worrying about cooldowns or exhaustion.

"With this, I'm already considered a genius," he said, a bright smile forming on his face.

After that, he headed to his room, took a shower, and slept through the night. Tomorrow would be a busy day and he had classes to attend, and afterward, he planned to test his new capabilities from the school dungeons.

When morning came, he got ready and made his way out. As the guard opened the gate, both men's eyes narrowed, watching him closely.

Leonardo immediately noticed their gazes and simply smiled. He knew they could already sense the faint traces of mana flowing within him, a clear sign that he had awakened.

"Congratulations, young master. Be careful on your way to school," one of them said respectfully.

"Sure," he replied, giving a small nod before leaving the mansion grounds.

Once his figure disappeared from view, the two guards turned to each other, beads of sweat forming on their faces.

They had never once expected that the young master would awaken. Time was already closing in, and they couldn't understand why it had to happen now and not earlier.

"The Patriarch seems to have predicted it wrong," Bernard said to his companion.

"I know big brother. If he awakened, doesn't that mean we have to follow the family rules and…" Luis trailed off, lowering his gaze as he looked at his brother.

The situation did not bring them joy but rather concern. They were happy that Leonardo had finally awakened, yet it came far too late, it is so late for it to change what was already set in motion.

Leonardo, unaware of the trouble his awakening had caused the two, had already arrived at school. Without wasting any time, he went straight to his classroom.

He sat at the back, resting his chin on his hand as he gazed out the window, quietly imagining what kind of future awaited him.

He was the first to arrive, so the classroom was quiet and peaceful. Wanting to pass the time, he decided to take a short nap. After dozing off for some time, a loud commotion woke him up.

As his classmates began to arrive, the peaceful atmosphere vanished completely. The room turned chaotic, filled with shouting and fighting as if the school were anything but a place for learning.

"Take this, you bastard!" yelled by a red-haired thug.

His arm suddenly turned into metal as he punched a fat guy filled with bruises in his face. The blow landed hard, and the victim groaned in pain, looking like he was about to vomit but couldn't.

Before he could even recover, the red-haired thug's lackeys surrounded him. One kicked him in the stomach, followed by several others joining in, each taking turns beating him while laughing loudly.

Leonardo didn't pay much attention to the scene and simply watched in silence. Incidents like this had already become a normal part of his daily school life.

The one being beaten was Loid, a fat classmate who had awakened a D–rank skill, the lowest among their class. Because of that, he was often targeted and bullied.

Blood was already dripping from Loid's nose as frustration and anger built up inside him. Unable to hold it in any longer, he shouted, "Why is it always me? Why are you always beating me up? Aren't I also an awakener like you guys?"

He stood up despite the bruises covering his body, his eyes flashing with a faint trace of killing intent.

"Haha, look at this fucker, the same as us? Are you really that dumb?" one of the thugs mocked before driving another punch into Loid's stomach.

The blow sent him sliding across the floor, crashing into the corner wall right beside Leonardo's seat.

He vomited a mouthful of blood and stared at them with an angry glare.

"You… you. I know my rank is low, but why don't you beat him up as well? He is not an awakener and for the record, he is even more useless than I am." Loid pointed at Leonardo.

Leonardo who was just sitting was stunned and surprised, wondering why he had suddenly been dragged into this.

The classroom fell silent the moment Loid shouted and even dragged in Leonardo. The red-haired thug's face drained of color.

"That bastard is dead," someone whispered.

"He does not seem to know who Leonardo is," another voice said.

"Getting beat up is one thing, but he is actually courting death?" someone else muttered.

"I think we are losing another classmate this semester," a bystander added, the words hanging uneasily in the air.

A lot of whispers began to echo around the classroom, leaving Loid to wonder what he had said wrong.

He rose to his feet, angry and wanting to vent out his frustation, he then stopped right beside the calmly sitting Leonardo.

Looking at Loid he saw that he looked fine, the injuries from the beating had already healed. That was the effect of Loid's D-rank skill, Minor Healing.

Minor Healing was exactly what its name implied, a healing skill that automatically mends minor injuries.

The only reason it was considered useless was that it drained mana very quickly, and it could only treat small wounds.

That limitation made the skill nearly worthless in serious fights. This is also the reason why they love beating up this fatso, since no evidence can be found after everything.

"What are you looking at, pipsqueak? I do not know why you are not involved in any of this bullying, but I will make sure to ruin that handsome face of yours before the end of the semester," Loid spat, then threw a punch.

Seeing that Loid actually dared to attack him, Leonardo couldn't help but wonder where the guy got his courage from.

He was about to move, but before the punch could land, a flash of light intercepted Loid's hand, knocking it away and leaving a burning sensation on his skin.

"Ahhh!" Loid screamed, clutching his hand in pain.

A girl stepped into the classroom. She had blonde hair and a cold expression was hanging on her face.

It was Asia Rama, the classroom monitor of 12-C, the same girl that he slept with last night.

"What is going on here? Are all of you causing a ruckus again?" she shouted, her voice was icy.

"Oh shit, the classroom monitor is here! Didn't I tell you to guard the door?" the red-haired thug barked, slapping one of his lackeys.

"I did, but I didn't see her coming at all!" the student stammered in panic, trying to explain himself.

"Don't bother beating him up, Mark," Asia said sharply.

"I used my skill to hide my presence and recorded a video of you bullying one of your classmates. I'll be passing this to the principal. And you Loid, just because you're hurt doesn't mean you can inflict pain on others. Didn't I tell you before that if you ever get bullied, you should report it to me?"

Asia's cold gaze locked onto Loid, making him lower his head, his eyes filled with resentment.

"This woman is getting on my nerves," Loid muttered under his breath.

His voice was low enough that no one else could hear, except forLeonardo. Thanks to his enhanced hearing, which was ten times sharper than before, every word reached him clearly.

However, seeing that Asia didn't seem to notice the insult, Leonardo chose to remain silent, deciding not to get involved in the situation.

He wasn't the type to talk or even bother conversing with anyone. Throughout his entire school life, and even this semester, plenty of classmates had tried approaching him, but his indifferent attitude always drove them away.

Eventually, they all got bored and chose to ignore him completely. Even though he was undeniably handsome, he was like a plank of wood comepletely emotionless and still.

Staring at Asia who had transformed from a timid, pitiful girl into a cold and authoritative class representative, he couldn't help but lick his lips.

Just as he wondered what he should do next, the Debauchery System appeared in front of him.
