Chapter 4:

Chapter 4 The Jealous Spark

"Between Class and Heartbeats"

The morning sunlight filtered through the classroom windows, illuminating the rows of desks and the quiet hum of students settling in. Yui Matsumoto sat at her usual seat, her blue eyes fixed on Yuto Takahashi from across the room. Her heart beat faster than normal.

He’ll be mine… no one else can have him.

She had spent the night thinking about yesterday’s after-school session. The way Yuto had laughed, the warmth of his hand when they touched, the way his messy hair fell over his eyes… it all replayed in her mind like a perfect little movie she could watch forever.

Yuto, on the other hand, was oblivious to the storm brewing just a few desks away. He leaned back in his chair, talking quietly with Riku, stretching lazily.

Then, the door opened, and Yui’s sharp blue eyes immediately locked onto the intruder.

“Good morning, everyone!” a cheerful voice rang out.

Emily.

Yui’s jaw tightened imperceptibly. Emily was pretty, bubbly, and a little flirty but worst of all, she had zero respect for personal boundaries when it came to Yuto.

Yui watched, invisible flames of fury building, as Emily casually leaned on Yuto’s desk, laughing at something he said. She rested a hand lightly on his shoulder, and Yui’s vision narrowed.

How dare she…

Yuto laughed, completely unaware of the storm brewing behind him. “You’re too funny, Emily.”

Yui’s hands tightened on her notebook. Her pulse was racing—not from embarrassment, but from possessive fury.

No. No one touches him like that. Not her. Not anyone.

Before she could think, Yui stood abruptly, her chair scraping against the floor. She moved faster than anyone realized—her stride smooth, purposeful.

Emily tilted her head, smiling brightly. “Yui, you’re staring again. Don’t you think you should relax?”

Yui’s lips curled into a small, dangerously sweet smile. “Relax?” she whispered, her voice low, almost a hiss. “No… I can’t relax when someone is so close to my Yuto.”

Emily froze. “Wait… your—?”

Yui’s hands shot out, grabbing Yuto’s wrist without warning. He yelped, startled, his eyes wide.

“Y-Yui?!”

She pulled him close, pressing her chest against his back and nuzzling into his neck. Her breath was warm against his skin, and her low, possessive growl vibrated softly.

“MMM… he’s mine,” she murmured, her voice carrying a dangerous sweetness. She hissed softly, almost like an animal protecting her territory.

Yuto’s face turned red—not just from embarrassment, but from confusion. “Yui… what are you doing?!”

Emily stepped back slowly, raising her hands. “Okay… okay… I get it! I didn’t mean anything!”

Yui’s blue eyes gleamed dangerously, her grip on Yuto tightening slightly. “Good,” she whispered, letting her head rest briefly against his shoulder. “You should know… no one will ever have you but me.”

Yuto froze, unsure whether to protest or melt under the intensity of her embrace. She’s… terrifying. And yet… why does my heart feel like it’s racing?

Emily gave a small nod, stepping back and muttering, “Alright… I’ll give you your… your ‘space’.” She hurried out of the classroom, glancing nervously over her shoulder.

Yui finally released Yuto, though her hand lingered on his wrist just a little longer than necessary. She smiled faintly, sweetly, like nothing had happened.

“Sit down, Yuto,” she said softly. “We have work to do.”

Yuto rubbed his neck, trying to regain composure. “Uh… yeah. Sure. Work.”

But his mind was a mess. Yui… she’s… intense. And I kind of… like it?

Yui returned to her seat, her expression calm and collected, though inside, her thoughts were racing:

No one will ever come between us. I’ll make sure of it. Emily… anyone… they’re nothing. Yuto is mine. Forever.

The rest of the day passed in a strange mix of tension and quiet normalcy. Yui focused on her notebook, meticulously planning the festival project, but every time Yuto laughed at a joke from another student or glanced at someone else, her fingers itched to grab him closer again.

By the end of the day, as Yuto packed his bag, he stole a glance at Yui. She was calm, unreadable—but he couldn’t shake the memory of her nuzzling into him, the low, possessive sound she had made.

She’s… crazy, he thought. And somehow… I can’t stop thinking about it.

Yui caught his glance, a faint smile curling her lips.

Good, she thought. You’re mine. And soon… you’ll realize it too.
