Chapter 119: The Grand Stage

Hiroto was not kidding.

It is 1 PM. The Imperial Press Room is packed. Every news outlet in Japan is here. International crews too.

Hiroto is "hosting." He convinced them he is the "cultural liaison" for the younger royals. Nobody questioned it because he is famous.

I am backstage. I am wearing my school uniform.

Fuji insisted.

"It is who you are," he said. "Do not hide it this time."

So I am Bloody Twilight. About to walk onto a national stage.

Fuji is with his father.

I can hear them arguing through the thin wall of the green room.

"What is the meaning of this, Kenji? I did not authorize this press conference!"

"It was on the calendar, Father. The press expects an announcement. Shall we disappoint them?"

His father is trapped. He cannot cancel it now. It would look weak.

"Fine. You will go out there and announce your engagement to Lady Mariko. If you deviate from the script... you know the consequences."

"I know them perfectly," Fuji's voice is calm.

He walks into my room.

He looks perfect in his suit. But his eyes are blazing.

"Are you ready, Rival?" he asks.

I crack my knuckles.

"Let's finish this."
