Chapter 1:

The Blade’s Genesis: Forged in Silence

Blade's Edge

The Blade’s Genesis: Forged in Silence

I had a brother, who once told me "The world moves on with or without you, but your choices echo long after you're gone" for my brother that was his way of life and I couldn't say the same was true for me. I was all grown up, now as a 17 year old I decided The Blade’s Genesis: Forged in Silenceto train every day, to become stronger so that what happened to us all those years ago would never happen to anyone else. The strong taking advantage of the weak, my friend Maximus went on a journey to ensure that never happens again but he was blinded by hate and spite for those he saw wielding blades and I fear that he might find someone who is going to lead him down the wrong path.

One day as I was doing my usual training one of the Nuns at the orphanage saw me and told me to follow her down the street to grab some items that we needed for the orphanage; I obliged and went along. As we were walking down the street, I came across a poster that wanted new students for their academy, I asked the Nun if I could go because I really wanted a fighting a chance if I ever hoped to make a difference in this world. She was hesitant at first but she finally let me join, so once we were done buying the items we needed, we went back to the orphanage and I waited for the next day because a new dawn was upon me.

The next day arrived and so I quickly rushed out of the orphanage, and while running towards the academy I decided to first stop by a clothing store to change my outfit so that I didn't look like I was out of place. When I arrived, I was surprised to see that the one who was in charge of the academy was a former Blade Sentinel, these were not just any ordinary blade wielders but elite protectors of the sacred swords who rank higher than the Blade Paragons. His name was Alaric, from the stories I heard he went by the name Alaric, the Silent Blade. He was now retired and looking to pass on the Torch to the next generation of Bladers. No wonder so many people arrived they all hoped to become one of the legends whose names would go down in the history books. Alaric was holding an audition where you had to pass in order to be accepted into the academy. From what I was seeing from a far people came out bruised and crying only to be dismissed by the rest as them being weak. But the majority of applicants started to decrease and then it was finally my turn, when I went into the interview room Alaric told me to step on to a stone and then there it was a mirror image of myself, my past self but more aggressive and clearly not in the right state of mind. In the back Alaric told me "You must overcome your past self and move on, we shall see whether you have the will to become stronger than yourself or if your still sheltered in your own shell" and so before I even realised it my mirrored-self attacked me from me behind and I fell on the floor and this went on quite a bit but I said to myself "With all the training have been doing does it even count if I can't surpass myself" So I mastered up all the strength I had left within me and decided to give it one more try, but to no avail it was hopeless, I couldn't defeat my other half, look at me already accepting defeat, I couldn't let the same scared little boy back then be the same scared little boy now so I took a breath of fresh air and said to myself "but even when in doubt, when all hope seems lost, when faced with an opponent much stronger than you are all you can really do is keep on giving it your all, for as long as am still breathing even in my last breath I would never accept defeat, I would never run away not ever again" and so I got up with my badly bruised body and charged forward, then in a span of a blink of an eye Alaric stood right Infront me and told me to stop, he said he had seen enough and told me "Boy you are bladeless, you must realise that your efforts can't makeup for your lack of talent, why is it that you keep going even though all hope seems lost?" and I replied to him saying "Of course I know am bladeless, even I know with all my training I can never make up for being a talentless person, I know that better than anyone else but even now, If I could hope to change the future that is now feared to be for people like me and help make the future that could have been then I'll try and try again till the future I sought becomes the reality am proud to be a part of" after uttering this Alaric took me behind the interview room and asked if I recognised the rune on the wall to which I replied yes. Then he asked if I knew the story behind how the Blades became to be to which I said "yes two brothers decided to created weapons to put humanity above all the creatures on this planet and they had created 5 weapons which helped foster the survival of mankind through out the centuries." Alaric said "Well aren't you well educated but your both right and wrong at the same time." He kept on going to say that "The brothers you speak of did help mankind's survival but at the same time they nearly erased all of humanity as we know it, do you know how people get chosen by their blades? Every person on this earth has something we call dust in their blood and when one is born, they take a drop of their blood and put it up against the blades, the blade that is most compatible with a person then gets chosen to be the blade they get to wield for the rest of their lives. But here's the thing the organisation I worked for the Blade Phylax tells everybody that they have dust with in them and the chance to be chosen by the blades." When I heard this I asked him why would they say that if they know there people like me who were never chosen by the blades and to that he replied "The truth is the organisation has been telling a lie for centuries" and I asked "About that not every person is chosen by a blade, yeah that seems pretty obvious" then Alaric said "Well no and yes, the two brothers who had created those blades long ago did not just create only five but they had created eight whole blades which were to be compatible with every person alive, but three of these blades were stronger than anyone ever imagined, turns out some people like yourself had a higher affinity of dust than anyone else and could wield these blades, not only were they powerful they cam to form the earth's layout as we know it today, scientists say that the continents just started drifting apart but well as you know now, that separation made by those three blades held too much power that the Blade Phylax decided to keep them secret from the rest of the world for centuries. So, you see boy you're not bladeless but you hold power unimaginable for people like me to comprehend. There's only one person the organisation allows to have this strength and that is the one that rules it all The Archon. Archon of the Phylax is the living embodiment of the covenant, true power unrivalled with." After hearing all this Alaric told me that we shall continue the rest another day. Training begins after tomorrow, and so I left off not knowing what allowed him to take a chance on someone like myself. They called me bladeless, but if Alaric spoke true, then I carried the echo of something older, something the Phylax themselves feared. Alaric had seen something in me I still couldn't see in myself not strength, not talent, but the will to fight even without a blade

The Genesis of the Blades was no creation story. It was a warning.
