Chapter 6:
Bio-Mage
The speed, the speed is unreal.
I felt faster than I did earlier!
“Kay! Above!” Getsurin hollered as the creature leaped into the air to strike Kay.
The creature hit the earth like a mutated meteor, quaking their surroundings. Kay regrouped with Getsurin, struggling to gain the advantage in the fight, in spite that it's two against one it feels more like two vs a pack of wild animals. Kay and Getsurin were swift and calculated in every strike they delivered, but the creature showed zero signs of slowing down its crazed assault.
Getsurin looked at Kay, seeing that she’s running low on energy, god knows how long they've been fighting. But more surprised that he isn’t tired much at all. However, the longer it goes on the more dangerous it can become, a new plan needs to be made and fast.
“Kay, I have an idea.” Getsurin huffed.
“Oh yeah? Let's hear it.” Kay remarked with exasperated breaths, but optimistic.
“I think trapping this thing will be the best way to at least stop its rampage."
“That bridge behind us?”
“Yeah…”
“It's old and damaged from the fight, I bet we can make it fall directly on top of this beast.”
“I can vibe with that.” Kay grinned with excitement at the idea.
“Alright, do you think you can loosen it more while I distract it?”
“I think that can be accomplished.”
“Let’s do this.” With the smooth phrase, both Getsurin and Kay jumped into the plan. The creature was still stunned from the landing so Getsurin took advantage by quickly bombarding the creature on the back of the head and neck with well refined palm strikes. With the creature in a further daze, he then shifted his stance downward in a position to strike. Focused on the creature's deformed jaw, Getsurin lunged his body upward with his leg at the forefront to deliver an immensely powerful kick. Sending it far back several meters. The creature growled in what had to have been pain, while Getsurin looked around for a moment in disbelief at his evolving skill set.
Kay easily removed any loose pieces of the bridge supports that were already damaged, but then moved to the intact areas of the bridge. She was hesitant to release a heavy punch as she is still greatly new to this style of violence. Nevertheless, she closed her eyes and blindly swung her fist into the thick concrete destroying much of it to reveal the steel insides.
“Oh-ha!” Kay howled in delighted shock at the continually growing potential of her newly gained powers. To then begin breaking chunk after chunk of steel and concrete of the bridge’s support beams.
The creature's roar shook Getsurin as it forced its enraged body upward, readying itself to charge. Getsurin knew that it was still acting on instinct and blindly attacking, but he had to remain cautious of its strikes. Faster than the blink of the eye the creature was next to Getsurin’s face. His pupils dilated with shock at the sudden speed creature, he then just had the single thought: this’ll hurt.
First time being launched into the nearby building, destroying it. Getsurin was able to rise from the destruction, but just barely as he had one arm clasped over his abdomen to relieve this sudden rush of pain that was impossible to avoid. The dust and debris clear to reveal the creature approaching closer to Getsurin, eye full of incoherent madness.
“Getsurin! Are you almost ready!?” Kay asked with urgency as she got closer to the desired instability of the bridge.
“Yeah!” He shouted back, surprised that he can even stand let alone shout. Groaning at the damn pain, but still able to think in this ridiculous battle. He quickly formed a plan to get the creature over to the bridge.
Not too far from him was a fire extinguisher, without another moment to spare, he grabbed it and blasted the creature covering it with the chemical foam. To then sprint to the bridge, the once blinded creature shook with annoyance as the foam fell off of it to instantly charge to Getsurin. He saw Kay panting from preparing the bridge and got in front of her.
“Okay, we just have to make it slam into vulnerable beams and it should just fall on top of it.” Getsurin explained as Kay nodded. “Can you throw a few more punches?” He asked.
“Yeah… Why not.” Kay replied, knelt down somewhat with clear exhaustion but willing to keep up the fight.
“Here it comes.”
The creature charged again like an enraged bull, exactly what they wanted as the two jumped out of the way for the creature to collide with one beam. Unfortunately, not enough to collapse the bridge. The two sneered with annoyance, realizing that they may have to fight a little more. The creature turned its sights to Getsurin and charged, but Kay leaped to it with a powerful punch to the face, forcing it to stumble and roar. The creature raised its deformed arm, ready to strike Kay, but Getsurin noticed that she wasn’t fast enough to block the attack. She’s too drained of energy! Getsurin panicked, for him to rush over with pure muscular reaction.
Time felt as if it slowed for Getsurin as he was suddenly next to the creature, seeing every grotesque detail of its face. Was this a person? He quickly thought as he prepared his fist. The creature's face was wide open for an attack, in that moment, Getsurin’s entire left arm pulsed with fire as it morphed into a deep, brassy gold. Veins constricted by the sudden surge of muscle fibers that instantly grew in his arm. His arm changed into something much more powerful than before.
Getsurin’s strengthened fist connected to the creature's jaw, creating a shockwave that pushed the air away from underneath the bridge. The creature fell back into another support beam and shook the bridge, finally beginning to crumble. However, the creature still stands.
“What do ya think, one more kick oughta do it?” Kay smirked, with Getsurin in agreement.
The two paused for a moment while the creature stumbled into the perfect position. The creature huffed in a weak roar, while the two readied themselves. Without another second to spare, the two stormed to the creature with one more synchronized devastating kick to its chest.
The creature was flung into the last support beam, instantly shaking the entire bridge into an uncontrollable instability. Kay grabbed Getsurin and the two rushed out from under the bridge to watch the whole thing collapse. Creating a massive cloud of dust and debris.
“We did it!” Kay hopped with excitement as Getsurin sat on the ground in relief, sighing that it's finally over.
“Holy hell, Getsurin, your eye.” Kay quickly notices the second the two lock on one another.
Getsurin quickly got up and found the nearest reflective piece of glass he could find. “What the hell?” He understandably questioned, as his left eye was indeed far from normal, closer to a devilish eye than a human's. Darken with haunting blues, circling around the pupil were geometric patterns, with the pupil itself transformed into a deformed star.
“Just ignore it for now, we have to leave before the authorities arrive.” Getsurin reasoned.
Before they were ready to run from the destroyed site, the ground shook. The two looked at the wreckage from the bridge as the rubble began to move. Getsurin and Kay both readied themselves as the rubble moved to slowly reveal the seemingly unstoppable creature.
“DIE!!!”
The creature roared with ear piercing rage. Kay looked at Getsurin, he soon did the same. “We can’t do this forever.” He remarked, with mild defeat, while Kay didn’t want to agree but felt that the next move was to flee from this monstrosity.
“We’re just going to have to make it disoriented one more time and run like hell.” Kay proposed.
“Alright, let’s try it.” Getsurin agreed.
They heard the creature roar once more but oddly its typical long winded shrieks were suddenly cut short. Getsurin was first to notice, the creature halted its movements, soon kay saw that it was no longer enraged as before.
“Someone is… Hugging it.” Getsurin announced in disbelief.
“Huh?!” Kay understandably hollered with confusion.
“It's even shrinking." He then added as he studied what was happening to the creature and the unknown hero.
The two hesitated for a moment before they rushed over to the unusual sight. They come to the unbelievable sight. The Creature was in fact a human, now resting in the lap of a normal young woman. Kay and Getsurin slowly approached the two, both sniffling from fighting tears of relief, but for different reasons. The once creature cries of regret, while the woman cries are more ambivalent.
“Are you okay, ma’am?” Getsurin was first to ask with as much kindness as he could muster.
“I’m-I’m fine, this is my brother, Yuuichirou.” The woman explained. A moment of quiet confusion froze the air, each of them unsure of how to move forward with the nonstop chaos that’s been occurring within the heart of Japan.
“Please, please, tell me what’s going on.” The woman simply asked, tears flooding her face, frightened by the unknown.
