Chapter 3:
Yuro No Toki
After stepping out of Mr. Sullivan's class, the chaos and sounds of the hallways filled my ears.
I pivoted on my heel and turned left; multiple people called out my name, but I chose to ignore them.
After retrieving my things from my locker, I left the building and began my long walk home.
Or that’s what I let people think; in reality, it was time for my daily quest.

How long ago had I gotten this thing?
Had it been 3 cycles or maybe 5? I lost track.
The run was always the easiest since I could do it on my way home... mostly.
Two hours later...
The doorknob felt extremely cold to the touch, and yet that couldn’t be correct; it was an extremely warm day.
I opened the door. No light spilled out; someone was inside. I normally left the lights on.
I found my hand instinctively on my katana. My hand rested on the door for a moment before I pushed it open.
Unsheathing the sword, I rushed inside. The TV was on?
"Took you long enough! I've been waiting for you forever!" I was surprised Minula actually waited the 2 or so hours.
"Why do you have your sword out?" She was laying down on the couch.
I sheathed the katana and set it next to the door. "I thought someone had broken in," I said as I jumped over the couch and scooted next to her.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
She pointed at the book in her hand. "Reading, duh!"
"You know reading in the dark is bad for your eyes." I stood up.
She looked up from her book. "Can't be that bad for me."
The carpeted floor felt weird compared to running for 2 hours.
I walked into my room and closed the door.

A small gray box appeared in my hand. Its surface was smooth to the touch, and on the top was a small ribbon.
I undid the ribbon, and a small card fell into my hands.
The box disappeared, leaving only the card.
I flipped the card over; 'Skill Card.'
Flipping it back to the front, it said 'Overclock: Rarity Rare.'
I read through it, and at the bottom, it said 'To use, tear in half.'
Lengthwise or widthwise?
