Chapter 4:
IRONIC DUO
“Ahhh!” she slammed her right palm on the table.
The short debate of her inner thoughts has made the situation complicated.
“Let’s do this,” she murmured as if talking to herself. She decided to proceed with the yes-go-with-it thought.
She typed the name, Alejandrino Montezales, in the social media search bar.
*tap*
She tapped the name on her phone screen. Some random people showed up whom she didn’t know. She checked their accounts to double-check, but it was not the Drino that she was looking for. She scrolled for more when she stumbled upon a video of a familiar guy who was facing her. She tapped the video reel and turned her phone’s volume up so she could hear what he was saying clearly.
A handsome young man wearing a white polo shirt showed up on her phone’s screen. He has a good physique, which is evident that he has been working out. He’s slightly tanned, with clean-cut black hair, and alluring eyes.
He’s looking directly at the camera as if he’s talking personally to his viewers.
“Do you feel you’ve been left out? Or when no one understands you? I know that feeling very well. I felt so lost, I nearly trusted no one. But what made me feel alive and found?”
Ashmille felt like he was staring and talking right at her. Stunning how the video and audio felt so real that she had goosebumps.
During his video narration, a quick montage of his daily life flashes across the screen. It is a ten-second clip packed with energy and motion.
He’s shown waking up a minute earlier to his phone alarm. He’s hitting the gym at 7:00 AM, beads of sweat glinting under the lights. It showed for milliseconds of Drino’s toned and fit body.
The next scene cuts to him savoring a savory, hearty meal, the kind that looks straight out of a wellness ad. Ashmille wondered if he cooked those or if it was a food takeout.
He then checks in on his business, focused and looking confident. Then it shifts to him while editing clips for his online content, wearing headphones and eyes glued to the tablet’s screen.
Moments later, he’s seen hopping from one destination to another. A beautiful scenery of the mountains where he hikes and camps. He goes to tropical beaches and eats tropical fruits during the summer. The tall city skylines boast of the modern buildings he visited.
He’s living the kind of life that seems slow yet fulfilling. Between all that, he still finds time to lend a hand to others, from volunteering in the community to simply sharing positive vibes online.
“It is by doing simple to complex things that makes you feel alive.” Drino smiled, ending the clip.
A smile that made Ashmille’s heart melt for one second.
Subconsciously, she scrolled up, and a random reel played, but it wasn’t Drino’s content anymore.
She went completely silent, where words caught somewhere in her throat.
She hadn’t expected to hear his voice again after years. The moment his voice reached her ears, the memories of the past kicked in. His voice was deeper now and steadier. It was the kind of voice that makes a heart remember what it shouldn’t. It didn’t sound like the carefree Drino she knew back in college. This was a man’s voice—refined and mature. And yet, beneath all that change, she could still hear the echo of the same boy who once made her feel that way.
In that moment, she realized that time had changed Drino, but not the way he made her feel about him.
Asmille is now bolder. She didn’t hesitate to visit Drino’s social media page. No wonder she couldn’t find his profile immediately because he was using Drino instead of Alejandrino Montezales.
Ashmille was impressed to see his number of his followers. He has 2.2 million followers. His profile picture is him wearing a plain blue polo with a clean beige background. His cover photo is a sunny morning with a luscious green mountain by the lake, which speaks a lot about his routine.
The reel she watched a while ago pretty summarizes Drino’s life in 40 seconds.
As she scrolled through his posts, his page became a collage of moments of Drino’s life. There he was, smiling because he was surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. He travels with his friends or family. He sometimes travels alone, with a backpack, a phone, a GoPro, a selfie stick, a tripod, and courage. Each photo told a story of snapshots of local trips, scenic getaways abroad, and little glimpses of a life that seemed both challenging and thrilling. His captions were captivating. In one post, he shared his thoughts about the beauty and culture of the places he’d visited.
In another, he promoted a new food product. He wrote detailed restaurant reviews, promoted a colleague’s perfume business with genuine support, and posted reflections about life and travel that sounded almost poetic, filled with quiet wisdom.
Then came photos of him in motion. He is hiking through mountain trails, biking by the coast, running under the morning sun, or swimming in clear rivers surrounded by trees.
There were also shots of him volunteering, offering free medical checkups, and handing out donations from his social media platform to the community. He is surrounded by people who love working with him through his efforts for the betterment of his community.
Ashmille lingered longer when she reached his fitness posts, where he shared workout routines and tips on how he had achieved his current physique. There were even posts about financial literacy and tips about starting small businesses. And lastly, his profile is filled with promotions about his latest pleasure, the Drino app.
Many people follow him online. They are mostly positive comments and feedback from mostly strangers. They ask him about his routine, his life, his opinion, and his whereabouts. They wish him good luck on his journey. They praise and adore him.
It was the same Drino, yet someone more evolved. He is someone whose life seemed driven by purpose.
There’s one thing Ashmille kept searching for. She is scrolling further down his page as if the answer might be hidden in one of his posts. Yet no matter how many pictures she saw, how many captions she read, there was still one question she couldn’t find a definite answer to.
Is Drino single?
