Chapter 6:
The Superstar's Long-Hidden Love
Previously…
Actually, Owen himself didn’t know why the name “Ailine Su” had been lingering in his mind since last night. He could have fully handed the patient over to Lisa, but for some reason… there was something that kept him from letting go completely.
He hated unresolved curiosity.
“Has the patient’s ultrasound result for Ailine Su come out?” Owen asked.
“Yes, I just got it from radiology.” Lisa showed Owen an envelope containing the examination results.
“And what are the results?”
“I haven’t opened them yet.”
“Really? You’ll inform the patient of the ultrasound results, right?”
“Yes…”
“Let me know what it says later.”
“Hm?… Wait a moment…” Lisa felt something unusual about Owen.
“What is it?”
“Ho ho, I didn’t know you could be this dedicated to a patient who isn’t technically your patient. Is it because Miss Su is a famous actress? Ah, I never expected the famously indifferent Dr. Owen to have this side, huh?” Lisa teased.
Medically, Ailine was under the supervision of Lisa, an internal medicine doctor, while Owen was a surgeon whose focus should mostly be in the operating room.
“Do I seem like that?” Owen challenged.
Lisa narrowed her eyes, as if trying to analyze him. “Impossible! You love surgical knives more than anyone…”
Lisa knew Owen’s character very well.
“You know that.”
“Tch, you’re so stiff. I was just making small talk.”
“I just don’t like leaving something unfinished when I’m the one who started it.”
He meant that since he was the first to handle Ailine, he felt he should continue taking care of her until she fully recovered.
“You’ve always been like that, since the beginning… Haaah, if you stay like this, you’ll never get a girlfriend! You need to be kind to women! Women like warm and friendly men!”
“I don’t want advice from someone who just broke up with her boyfriend.”
Owen immediately left Lisa’s room.
“Haisshhh… Hey, I don’t really love my ex!”
But Owen had already left, carrying his doctor’s coat.
Lisa stared at the door that had just closed. “Haaah, always like this. Cold, rigid, but… that’s what makes me fall for Owen.”
She could only sigh deeply. She smiled faintly, then it faded.
“Owen, even if I date another man, the winner of my heart will always be you. Don’t you realize my feelings at all? I’ve liked you for over five years…”

Ailine’s hospital room…
While Layla and Emma were having lunch at the cafeteria, Julian took his turn to accompany Ailine.
“Even though I’m already very full, why do you keep feeding me porridge? Why didn’t you bring oranges or some sour fruit? I need something like that to reduce nausea without adding weight!”
“Thinking about weight while sick? Don’t be extreme, Ailine! I don’t want you to develop anorexia! How could I bring sour fruit if your illness involves your digestion? That would be dangerous, Ailine!”
Ailine and Julian kept bickering. Not in a bad way, though—trust me, it was their way of showing affection.
“Okay, okay, I know… Sorry! But honestly, I was already very full because I ate before you came! Believe me…”
“The problem is you vomited earlier after Dr. Young left… You have no idea how worried I was about you.”
Julian was right. The beautiful actress did vomit once her stomach suddenly churned.
“One more spoon…”
“Five spoonfuls…”
“Two…”
“Make it three, no negotiation!”
Ailine nodded happily and immediately ate the porridge Julian fed her.
As she finished the last spoonful, Dr. Lisa arrived and witnessed the very sweet scene.
Lisa held the door handle, calming herself and making sure her professional smile returned. She had already heard the news that actor Julian had come to visit. The nurses and doctors were excited since earlier, including herself.
“Remember, Lisa… doctor first, fan later,” she whispered in her heart.
Then, with a friendly smile, the beautiful doctor greeted them enthusiastically.
Of course, Dr. Lisa was human too—she knew that two famous actors were right in front of her. She wanted to scream in delight, but restrained herself out of professionalism. She wanted to ask for a photo, but decided to keep that desire for the sake of her duty as a doctor with a patient.
“From the ultrasound and blood tests, we found a small mass in the appendix area. It’s a tumor. Most likely benign, but it still needs monitoring.”
Lisa explained calmly, without panic, yet enough to make Ailine and Julian exchange worried glances.
“So… it’s dangerous?” Julian asked softly.
“For now, no,” Lisa replied.
“The tumor is small and benign, right?” Ailine needed confirmation.
“Yes, small and benign,” Lisa answered.
“Small, but still a tumor!” Ailine exclaimed reflexively.
Lisa understood her patient’s reaction. “However, if left untreated, the tumor could grow or press on surrounding tissue. If that happens, the risk becomes more serious and may require emergency surgery.”
“Can I explode?”
“Ailine! Don’t talk nonsense!” Julian shouted. Could this woman really say whatever she wanted like that?
“Okay, okay, I’m joking… he he he”
“You! Please don’t underestimate anything!”
After a small laugh, Ailine looked down. “But seriously, it’s scary.”
The word tumor echoed in her ears louder than it should. She knew Lisa was trying to calm her, yet that single word was enough to make her heart drop.
“What your partner said is correct. I also ask you not to underestimate your body again,” Lisa said gently. “I don’t want you returning to the hospital over something preventable.”
Ailine swallowed. “So… I just need to take medicine and rest, right?”
Lisa looked at her. “For now, yes. But don’t ignore the small warning signs. Your body is trying to alert you.”
“Alright, I understand…”
“Good.”
“But doctor, he’s not my boyfriend! He…”
Before Ailine could finish, Julian cut her off immediately.
“I am her soulmate!” His confident smile radiated from his handsome face.
After saying that, Julian looked at Ailine proudly, while she desperately wanted to hit his face with a pillow.
