Chapter 26:

Naoe’s Haikus

The Girl at the Plum Blossoms

Melancholy days

Laughing as it all changes

Food lightens the mood

Time moves slowly on

It ebbs and flows like the breeze

Leaves drift in the stream

Wind rustles the trees

Voices carry from afar

Unknown languages

Forgotten stone paths

I may never find my peace

But I found a way

I once was and not

Losing myself in the fall

Like these maple leaves

His tranquil presence

Impermanent peace still counts

I’ll cherish those days
